I live for HARRY POTTER <3

by vclx0 on 2018-06-01Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

OKAY. I am obsessed with Harry Potter, but more so obsessed with this specific movie. The Prisoner of Azkaban has been my favorite film & book since the get go. NOW i loved every last second of this, the idea to show the ENTIRE movie while an orchestra plays the music is GENIUS. To be honest, sometimes I even forgot that I was at a symphony and not just out watching the movie. So in that sense, yes it was amazing heck even the merch was awesome! (just wish they had magnets). That being said, the only thing that threw me off was all the yelling during the movie. Now I totally get the crowd and movie interactions but it was a bit much for me. I would have liked to enjoy the movie and music and not have to listen to people yell at every little thing on the screen. But otherwise, I loved it!

    Great Orchestra!

by BFoxx on 2018-05-29Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

It was amazing to hear a live orchestra, they did a fantastic job!! The downside though was the audience. They cheered/clapped every time a character made their entrance or something good happened in the movie...as well as making out loud comments about the characters. I was there to listen to the orchestra and the movie, not people's reactions and comments to something they've probably seen a million times by now. Otherwise it was an entertaining different type of event to try!

    A Magical Night!

by Roanna on 2018-05-23Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Prisoner of Azkaban has always been my favourite HP book (and movie), so I was pretty excited to see it on the big screen again - especially since I was taking my 12 year old niece, who has never had the opportunity to see an HP movie in theatres. Of course, the movie was fantastic (as always), but the TSO was excellent. PoA has one of the best scores out of all the HP films, and the orchestra did it justice - they were so perfect, I kept forgetting they were on stage because they sounded exactly like the movie soundtrack. The crowd was also very boisterous (which was encouraged) and it made for an entertaining night.

    Toronto symphony orchestra is amazing

by Neilthomson on 2018-05-23Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I don’t think I’ve witnessed a room full of musicians with that much talent before. Just incredible from start to finish. To see the movie score come to life like that is almost indescribable. So much room for error in such a huge piece and it sounded flawless throughout

    Truly amazing!

by Colie on 2018-05-22Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Five of us went, and nobody was disappointed. It was a very unique experience, with the orchestra right on stage and movie behind and the whole audience cheering and booing at the right times. We would highly recommend this or any other Harry Potter movie!!

    Such a great event!!

by angela23 on 2018-05-22Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

We loved Happy Potter and the PRisoner of Azkaban! Not only we do love the movie, but watching the TSO this way was so accessible. The symphony was so great that we often forgot they were playing and that we werent just watching the movie. We had to keep reminding ourselves to notice the orchestra! So great and we will definitely be coming back!

Don't come to listen to the orchestra

by NicoleM082 on 2018-05-22Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

The crowd was mostly youths, which is great! However, the conductor encouraged people to cheer and make noises that correspond with what is happening in the movie. Thus, it was 2.5 hours of listening to people clap and cheer for no reason at all. Clearly everyone in the audience has seen the movie before. It was very distracting while trying to watch the movie and listen to the TSO. What was even more frustrating was that people were cheering for the actors rolling in the credits, while the orchestra was showcasing beautiful music. It was a very disappointing show. I have tickets to the fourth movie, but will sell them or give them away. What a shame. I do not recommend this to a TSO lover.

HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban with choir

by ChillmanG1 on 2018-05-21Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Had a great time. Enjoyed the event and loved that the music was done live with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Gave the movie a much greater depth and made it seem more real. The audience participation was also great and nice to see many young kids there as enjoying themselves as well as adults. Can't wait for the Goblet of Fire to be performed. I enjoyed speaking with the conductor as well.
