Unbelievable show. System, slipknot, periphery, gojira, btbam and in flames were all nuts. Best weekend ever
Both days were amazing, just the mud was a annoying
Awesome concert, some of the line-up orders brought down the tempo. Also, way to muddy, not enough preparation for weather conditions. Show was amazing though, all that talent under 1 fest, truly epic!
A weekend of Metal in the mud at Downsview Park was a spectacular way of spending the weekend moshin out to some of the best Heavy Metal bands in the world. Many people took in the Saturday conditions to have some extra fun, and the left over mud Sunday gave more opportunity. A definite excellent weekend for metal heads, and for new metal heads to experience.
WIDE variety of bands... Enjoyed every minute of this weekend! (rain and mud and all!) My husband and I went in 2011, and decided this year to try the Platinum Lounge Passes... totally worth it. We didn't STAY in the lounge all day, but the bathrooms, beer and food vendors and a dry/mud free place to stand and sit were appreciated. We went with a group of about 12 people but we were the only ones to shell out the extra $$... We'll definitely buy this package again next year.
The mosh pits were unreal, the crowds were hyped up, just a great atmosphere to get crazy and have a good time. Slipknot and In Flames were both especially deadly !!
All the bands brought they're A game, The whole venue was covered in mud before the first band started. There were way too many rules for a metal festival ( no re-entry.... what do i do with autographed posters? I WANT TO MOSH) and there were 2 huge dividers in the crowd, which really sucked, even Corpse Grinder fisher pointed that out.beer was expensive as hell (8 bucks each) beside the obvious flaws, it was an amazing and surreal weekend, i met most of my favorite bands that were playing
Even though it was extremely muddy and the weather wasn't the greatest my entire weekend was awesome. The mud almost made it more fun and the cooler temperatures made the large crowds more bearable. The bands were great for the most part. Marilyn Manson didn't put on a good show in my opinion. Slipknots performance was awesome and consistent with every other time I've seen them. SYSTEM OF A DOWN was insanely awesome and was most definitely the highlight of my weekend.
My 13 year ol wanted to see the event and artists, and even through the rain he had an amazing time and was a tropper and stayed through the entire event. I enjoyed as well. Was a great set up, great artists and lots of fun.
The event was amazing, even though it rained hard the first day. Slipknot put on an epic show as always. Food was decent. Girls were hot. Overall a good time.
Had a great time! Wore my rubberboots because of all the mud! I hope to be there again next year!
Amazing show, second day was the best! Although I have to say that I am not a fan of having to switch stages after every band finishes playing, other than that, I enjoyed it a lot.
Awesome times! Too bad about the weather! Got soaked both days!
Amazing weekend loved playing in the mud slipknot put on there best show in a while, five finger death punch was awesome as well as in flames, and killswitch engage!
I had a great time. I went solo both nights and with different weather conditions and with my experiences I was able to battle the elements head on. The venue was excellent the security and vendors were very good. The Headline Bands were excellent for a festival atmosphere and I left the 2 day event impressed. The bands I knew were not a disappointment and were quite good and I left with 2 more bands I appreciate. Godspeed Apocalyse and Origin were quite good. P.S. FOR NEXT YEAR make it a three day event and have some female fronted symphonic metal bands performing. Just a thought
The most fun I have had all summer! All the bands were great, all the people were nice, and the food was great. My only complaint was all of the mud. But you can't do much to fix that. Nonetheless it was the best!
Heavy T.O. was just that....HEAVY. Good mix of old metal but a clear focus on newer metal. Aside from the venue and parking being a total mud pit I don't have much to complain about. Except for maybe the lineup on Sunday.... Deftones, five finger death punch playing 3rd and 2nd last...WTF? Killswitch or In Flames would have at least had people watching had they played 2nd last...unlike FFDP who played in front of what looked like 15 people (5 of which may or may not have been passed out) while everyone and their brother crowded in to see system of a down more than an hour before they started.
Concert was amazing! Seeing SOAD completed my life! Loved that there was no long intermissions in between bands. Sound was great! Even the rain and mud was a good time! Better then burning and sweating . Only down side was $8 beer. :$ that's way steep. Food prices definitely over priced as well. Should have had free water tank like warped tour! And what it says online you can bring in live up to it. Overall amazing experience and would do it all over again! Like right now!
This was my first time attending a festival. Despite the mud, my day was amazing! I only attended the Sunday portion and now look forward to attending both days next year. The facilities were reasonably clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. I was a little disappointed to not get autographs from my favourite band, Killswitch Engage, since they shut down after half and hour of signing. The only complaint I have was the inconsistencies between what was allowed to be brought in on the sign/website and what was being turned away at the door. The signs and website said we were allowed a single unopened bottle of water, but they were confiscated at the front. Given the water was being sold to us at $4/cup, it was a rip.
The bands performing in the festival were amazing. Slipknot and System both killed it on stage and their set list choice was absolutely unforgettable!! The music did not disappoint and all the bands played their hardest and heaviest. Any heavy metal fan would have been completely satisfied after the two hardcore line-ups that were Heavy TO! \m/ However, the overall venue was were the disappointment began. The rain/mud could not really be helped BUT more mulch and wood chips should have been laid out Sunday morning to help generate pathways for people to walk on. The stages were also set at the bottom of the hill which made getting there near impossible without the risk of slipping (again not really the venues total fault). The beer was outrageously priced, at $8 each for a small can, and the food choices were not the best in the world. The other disappointing change from the 2011 show was the lack of band merchandise. In 2011 each band had numerous shirts and stuff available and there was a lot of Heavy TO stuff as well. This year there was barely anything, and definitely nothing special if you were a girl, because then you were limited to about 3 options.
