About

In describing Henry Rollins, the tendency is to try to squeeze as many labels as possible into a single sentence. "Rollins is many things," says The Washington Post, "diatribist, confessor, provocateur, humorist, even motivational speaker...his is an enthusiastic and engaging chatter." Entertainment Weekly's list includes "Punk Rock icon. Spoken word poet. Actor. Author. DJ. Is there anything this guy can't do?" TV Guide has more concisely called him a "Renaissance Man" but if Henry Rollins could be reduced to a single word, that word would undoubtedly be "workaholic." When he's not traveling, Rollins prefers a to keep a relentless schedule full of work, with gigs as an actor, author, DJ, voice-over artist and TV show host to name a few of the roles that keep his schedule full. Rollins has toured the world as a spoken word artist, as frontman for both Rollins Band and Black Flag and as a solitary traveler with insatiable curiosity, favoring road-less-traveled locales in places such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Siberia, North Korea, South Sudan and Iran.

Henry Rollins: Frequent Flye was a Fantastic show!

by Twindwick on 2010-05-25Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

My first thought was that I would hear some old material from Henry like most "Stand up" artists do, but low and behold it was all new. The man in my opinion is a genius and a kind hearted person behind all those tattoos and serious looking faces. I have been a fan since the early 90's when I was introduced to his "Henry Rollins Band" Album with the song "lier", and hooked to his multi series of talents ever since! If people could see through Henry's eyes they would probably suffer from an overload! He has so much LIFE experience under his belt which most individuals could never obtain. His travels across the globe give so many stories, (like Henry told us himself) he could have talked till next morning! I have no complaint, but that I was tired near the end (was a 3 hour show!) and like Henry told us, "Our butts will be numb from sitting so long". This man is a hard worker and puts his full "self" into all of his work, so whether you dig him or not, you gotta give him respect for his hard work ethic. Thanks Henry! I hope he comes back to Kelowna again, because this guy is personally one of my biggest Idols

    Awesome

by coffeegirl67 on 2010-05-24Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Henry Rollins was a wicked awesome time. He was on stage for 3 hours without intermission, and somehow without taking a sip of water. Is he superhuman? Maybe. The man knows his world events and has travelled many places, and we the audience are the lucky individuals who reap the benefits of that. If you are on the fence about going to his show....JUST GO. And you will not regret it (unless you have a closed mind).

Henry Rollins is an amazing speaker. I wouldn't label him as a stand up comedian but rather a performance artist. Many of his stories are hilarious and some of them are moving. He is a true intellectual but speaks in a way that anyone can understand. I really admire his way of thinking and find him to be just as wise as the Dalai Lama. I left his show feeling motivated and inspired to live my life to the fullest.

I've seen Rollins a few times and he definitely brought his top game this time. Perfect, non-stop stories and rants with huge round about asides. My only complaint was the show wasn't well advertised and the theater was only half full. For Kelowna to continue to get shows like this there needs to be more advertisement so people will know to purchase tickets. I hope we get to see Rollins on home turf again, it was awesome.

    Awesome show

by Rollinzor on 2010-03-25Bronson Centre - Ottawa

Just as good as his last show there in 2003! I don't know how the man can stand and talk for 3 hours and not drink a sip of water. His words of wisdom are always relevant and the world needs to hear what he has to say. I laugh at the people who went to see Ann Coulter that night instead. Keep it up Henry. Tell your agents to book you for Ottawa on every tour!
