About

In describing Henry Rollins, the tendency is to try to squeeze as many labels as possible into a single sentence. "Rollins is many things," says The Washington Post, "diatribist, confessor, provocateur, humorist, even motivational speaker...his is an enthusiastic and engaging chatter." Entertainment Weekly's list includes "Punk Rock icon. Spoken word poet. Actor. Author. DJ. Is there anything this guy can't do?" TV Guide has more concisely called him a "Renaissance Man" but if Henry Rollins could be reduced to a single word, that word would undoubtedly be "workaholic." When he's not traveling, Rollins prefers a to keep a relentless schedule full of work, with gigs as an actor, author, DJ, voice-over artist and TV show host to name a few of the roles that keep his schedule full. Rollins has toured the world as a spoken word artist, as frontman for both Rollins Band and Black Flag and as a solitary traveler with insatiable curiosity, favoring road-less-traveled locales in places such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Siberia, North Korea, South Sudan and Iran.

Loved Henry Rollins but not the venue

by Huntress308 on 2012-06-09Myer Horowitz Theatre - Edmonton

Henry Rollins was incredible. The venue wasn't very good. The seats were narrow and the air seemed stale, like an old movie theatre.

    Great show; bad venue

by rpm1 on 2012-06-08Myer Horowitz Theatre - Edmonton

As always, Mr. Rollins did his usual excellently long show. How does one man speak for nearly three hours straight, keep up his level of energy, and entertain so well? Having seen him at the Winspear the last several times, I was disappointed by the transition to the lesser Horowitz. A three hour show without intermission in those claustrophobic rows and seats gets kind of painful.

    Awesome experience

by Anonymous on 2011-03-28The Great Hall - Toronto

SHow was great. Henry gave out 10$ to every single person as he determined we were overcharged for the event. That was an experience i've never seen and wont soon forget. Was my forst time seeing him. He had so many interesting stories and kept everyones interest. He basically didnt mocve for 3 hours or even stop to take a drink of water! A complete pro! Will definitley go back to see him when he comes back to Toronto.

Henry says fans are more important than $$$

by Laparka on 2011-03-28The Great Hall - Toronto

Had a great time. Henry was in fine form. Talking about visits to William Shatner's house, stories covering 30 years of performance including the early years with Black Flag up to playing for one amused woman in Costco. The man talked for about 2.5 hours almost without taking a breath. See ya next year!

Henry is the master of the segue

by Prahapete on 2011-03-27The Great Hall - Toronto

Fantastic show. Henry is the master of the segue. It's very hard to keep up with the brilliant mind of this man. Hey, how did he get to where he is talking about shopping at a U.S. big box store, a visit to North Korea, his Black Flag days..... Oh ya, and laugh, did I ever laugh, non-stop. It's awesome for the soul to laugh like that. Mix in the societal insights and social commentary, plus the $10 refund delivered personally to your seat. Yes, Henry apologized for a computer glitch that overcharged everyone at the show by $10. So, to start the show he explained that 5 Canadian fans sent him very respectfully crafted notes to ask why the tickets to his show were so pricey. He reached behind the curtain and withdrew a wad of $10 bills and handed them out. That's a class act.

    Henry Rollins never disappoints

by DispatchGus on 2011-03-26The Great Hall - Toronto

Henry's ability to capture an audience never wavers. Everyone was entertained and compelled by his spoken word from his animated stories and bold opinions. Can't wait until next year!

    Great thinker of world views

by Stannimal on 2010-06-14The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I"m a conservative, and although Henry is clearly from a left wing and I'd say a little more than center -left, he clearly has some very important things to say from very interesting points of view. I believe that we need men like him who are indeferant to the average thinker bound by the laws and ideas of society and is brave enough to take his own path through some of the more difficult areas of the world that others would avoid and return with it's story though pure insight and comedy.

    Henry kept it real

by Kro138 on 2010-05-31The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Henry was intense! He ranted for just shy of 3 hours only moving one leg once. Didn't even have a bottle of water on stage. It was a continuous stream of Rollins banter with the audience hanging on every word. I hope he stays away from HellA spends more time where he belongs on the road spreading the word. Spoken Word.

    Great Night

by black77 on 2010-05-27The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

This is the fourth time I have seen Henry Rollins in a spoken word tour. I think its a must see because its so entertaining, but it makes you think as well. He has a great perspective on life and I really enjoy hearing about his experiences in his life. He really should be seen at least once for those of you who are unsure how good it would be- give it a shot, its worth your time!

Wow.........what a great show!!! So much fun. I laughed, I thought, I dusted the cobwebs off my brain. Well done, Mr. Rollins, well done. Such an amazing personality to engage the crowd with only a microphone and the power of intelligent speach. Please come back again soon :)

Solid performance by Rollin's, after listening to most of his work for free I figured I owed the guy something and I wasn't disappointed with the live show.

Hollins is Still Worth Every Penny

by Surreal1 on 2010-05-26The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

This was the 7th time I have seen Henry Rollins spoken word show over the last 10 years and it is still a fantastic evening. Rollins was in prime form on this tour with themes and stories that were wickedly entertaining. The ticket price for the event was $24.50 and let me tell you, I would pay Henry rollins 8 bucks an hour any day of the week. Hands down the best bang for your buck you'll get all year. When concerts ticket prices are spirialing out of control, Rollins' prices have remained stable. See this show and you will laugh your ass off!

Henry Rollins has been my hero for years now, this was the first chance I got to see him. My seats were excellent, it was almost like meeting my hero. The venue and sound were fantastic. I can't find anything wrong with the night. I will go see him every time he comes to town.

2nd time at Rollins spoken word

by Erictheb on 2010-05-26The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Second time that I have hung out with Hank and he is as interesting as usual, a great story teller, insiteful and intellegent. I think I smiled for the entire 2 hours and 50 minutes. Unfortunately the theatre was hot and seats were very uncomfortable. The guy didn't take a drink of water for the entire show, he has wicked machine gun delivery and is often off on tangents (which I love) and then he would bring it back again. He is a master of humourous self depreciation while being smart enough to realize that what he has to say is important and most often correct. As a result he does give himself the respect he deserves. He might have been a bit preachy but thats okay he was preaching to the converted. Ann Coltor got 2000 protestors in Ottawa and he got none - so who's alternative now tough guy? haha - the right? OMG that is hilarious.

Stellar as always, Henry puts on a great show and talks for 3 hours straight without taking a breath or sip of water.
