Beer too expensive

What is Vancouver Sevens?
Three days of world-class rugby, paired with the best costume party you've ever seen! This weekend is forecast for rugby with a high chance of a party. After years of success in Vancouver, this has become an iconic tradition, and this is surely Your Year. Still not convinced? Here are Seven reasons why you should be coming to Vancouver Sevens:
1. It's the best party in town, with an electric atmosphere that you have to experience for yourself!
2. The best teams in the world all under one roof at BC Place. Will returning champions like Argentina and New Zealand top the podium, or will we see an underdog take the number one spot?
3. Canada's own women's Olympic rugby silver medallists on home soil. Cheer on our Olympic medal-winning squad right here in Vancouver!
4. The globally renowned costume party. The fancy dress tradition turns a weekend in February into Halloween like you've never seen it before.
5. Three full days of world class sport in your backyard. The three-day pass gives you access to the entire tournament, so you can follow your favourite teams from first kick-off on Friday all the way through to Sunday's grand finale. Sports!
6. This is the longest running annual sports event of this size and scale in Vancouver. Come see what the fuss is all about!
7. There's something for everyone. Want to introduce your little ones to rugby? Stay tuned for more on opportunities for them to get on the pitch at BC Place!

Well organised, well run. Sevens are very entertaining. Glad it was mens and women’s teams playing. Concession stands were clean well run, offering a variety of food. One drawback when just outside of building there needs to be more garbage cans.
So much great Rugby to watch & lots of fun in the stands! Loved the costumes & good spirits all around.
The event was entertaining. However, food & beverage was grossly overpriced that it detracted from the enjoyment. Limited offerings in the gift shop as well.
Apart from during the pandemic, we have attended the Sevens at BC Place every year and have loved the whole experience. This year however was really disappointing. The format had changed to be over three days and if you are a fan of women’s rugby, that’s great. I do understand the women players wanting to perform in a large stadium. We are fortunate to have incredibly talented women players. However, I believe the main attraction for most is still the men’s tournament and this is what brings in the majority of fans and also the revenue. If the tournament series is going to be reducing venues then this is a huge factor to consider. I think having the women’s games interspersed with the men’s changed the entire atmosphere in the arena. However this was also due to the lack of the fans favourite music and singing which brings the crowd to its feet and creates the party atmosphere that Sevens is famous for. The mariachi band, although ok, was just not hitting the mark and the sound system made it extremely shrill and painful to listen to. On the Saturday there was a live band in the much shorter interval but they didn’t perform any fan favourites so again the crowd lost interest. The timings of the games changed to extend until late night by which time a lot of the crowd had left. Previously finishing for the day around 8pm meant supporters could still get out in time for a dinner, an evening somewhere more comfortable or to hit the last ferries/transport of the day. Our whole group much preferred the previous start times of around 8:30-9am and an earlier finish time. I overheard a nearby family with young children complaining about the lack of “bottomless popcorn” and refillable soft drinks, in that it made it unaffordable for their family when it came to refreshments and they had to leave the stadium to get snacks for the kids. I’m sure the venue would rather keep patrons and their dollars in the building rather than leaving to spend elsewhere - plus it also reduced the amount of games they could watch even further. So in summary, yes it was fun, yes we watched some incredible rugby performances but it just lacked the atmosphere of previous years.
My wife and I went to the event for the first time and met up with friends. My wife had never been to any kind of rugby match before. She loved the game -- the pace, the excitement and sportsmanship. We both loved all the costumes that spectators were dressed up in. More than a sports event, it was a destination event with people from all over the world coming together to cheer for sport and teams, but also just to have fun and enjoy life. Five stars.
Open up the top area. The general admission areas are too chaotic now with not enough space. Large groups are encouraged, but it is a challenge to keep everyone together in one section unless you stay in the same place all day
With the new three day format, I think more woman’s games should be played on the Friday and the men’s game should start on the Saturday.
Great time but ridiculous prices for alcohol at BC Place!
Should be a easier way to transfer the tickets to your partners.
This is a fantastic family sade enviroment. I took my teenage rugby playing son and can honestly say I will be back! Even with the alcohol service I never witnessed any negative altercations or issues. My only comments would be perhaps the ticket price is a little steep for families and please sell different team merchandise!
Whoever was in control of the music was absolutely terrible and cutting off drinks with 4 games left, was a bad call too. The Rugby was great tho
The positive aspects of the games were that there were 50% less tickets sold than previous years as well as no "open seating" tickets. All spectators had to purchase the seats that they selected before arrival. It was also positive that all "vaccine passports" were verified at the door along with ID and the tickets. The biggest negative for us was that the mask rules while sitting in your seat was not enforced. Although it stated it in the rules and kept being announced overhead that masks must be worn at all times while sitting in your seat except for when you were eating or drinking, this was not enforced by anyone. While looking around, we noticed that we were the minority to be wearing them all the time. We did see a woman walking around with a sign saying to do so, but spectators clearly ignored this rule and she didn't enforce it. Although we kept ours on throughout the games, others around us did not even though they were seated, behind, beside and in front of us. The other negative is the high price of tickets this year along with the over-inflated prices at the concessions. I understand trying to make up for some lost revenue, but now you will most definitely lose spectators because of these factors. We are now unfortunately part of that group of lost spectators for future years and we've been loyal fans and have purchased multiple tickets for every previous year.
Such an awesome time, great seats, and amazing plays. I would highly recommend that everyone go watch sevens no matter what your level of rugby knowledge is!!
Watched Rugby Sevens for the first time. It was fast paced and exciting. Even better watching it with my daughter. All the staff were friendly and professional.
The ticket pricing is really becoming ridiculous for this event. You can at least leave the stadium now to get food but the food prices are not the problem. Drinks are through the roof and I am not just talking alcoholic beverages. Water is nearly $6 after tax. I have attended every Sevens since it came to Vancouver and to sit in the "cheap" seats behind the poles is becoming crazy. This was the first time I only bought a day ticket. There was no atmosphere there (behind the poles) because of limited seating and people who could afford bought in the main area. This year we obviously had a pandemic but I for-see next year being the same with another price hike. Why not offer some cheaper tickets and open more seats. That way the stadium can still make money on overpriced drinks
Too many good teams missing so most games were not competitive
Hi, this year's rugby was not the same as previous years this is because, teams like Fiji, New Zealand, Argentina and Australia didn't play in Vancouver. We would love to see these teams come back in February 2022. There wasn't enough competition between the teams.
The crowd is the most entertaining part excluding the fantastic Rughby . However , having a live band playing at a break adds to the crowds energy . Maybe a guest player highlighted ?
The games and the crowd was phenomenal . The weekend was full of fun for the kid's and for the adult's . Seeing 16 nations play under 1 roof was just mind blowing . Love rugby 7s games ❤❤
