About

INFORMATION SOCIETY IN CONCERT:

Information Society was America's chart-topping answer to '80s  British synthpop juggernauts like Erasure and The Pet Shop Boys. Their 1988 single "What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy)" hit No. 1 on the dance charts, proving The States could synthpop with the best of them and paving the way for future dance music artists. Today they continue to bring their classic sounds to fans on tour, treating ticket buyers to sweaty sets full of lush keyboards, body-rocking beats, and deliciously '80s vocals. Whether they're playing hits like "Walking Away" or performing high-energy deep cuts, Information Society always treats concertgoers to a blast from the past that feels perfectly at home in the present.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Information Society was formed in 1982 by a group of college students in Saint Paul, MN. They spent their early days experimenting with various electronic styles before settling on the fusion of synthpop and electro heard on their 1986 debut single "Running." The The song was a sensation in NYC's underground club scene and went on to become a Top 10 dance hit, setting the stage for a string of popular singles that followed. Their self-titled 1988 debut album peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard 200, spawning the dance hits "Walking Away" and "What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy)", which both featured vocal samples from Star Trek. Their rise continued in 1990 with sophomore album Hack and its bevy of popular singles including dance floor favorites "Think" and "How Long". Information Society released two more albums in the mid'-90s before calling it quits in 1997, but reunited in 2007 for the album Synthesizer, their first in more than a decade. Since then they've continued to tour tirelessly, including an acclaimed string of shows in support of their 2014 album Hello World.
