About

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) are an English electronic music band formed in Wirral, Merseyside in 1978. Founding members Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys pioneered a distinctive synth-pop sound, scoring major hits like "Enola Gay" and "Maid of Orleans." Rounded out by members Martin Cooper (keyboards, saxophone) and Stuart Kershaw (drums), OMD released several acclaimed albums in the 1980s, and have continued to record and perform over the decades.

  • Great Evening of Entertainment in a Beautiful Setting

by BigMac on 2022-07-10Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

First time seeing OMD anywhere including on video. These two Glaswegians who are friends from high school put on a great show. The whole show including the back up band was extremely professional. Surprising how many songs I knew as they obviously have a large repertoire after 40 years together. The setting in Stanley Park, in Vancouver was amazing. We were visiting the fifth highest ranked city in the world of Vancouver for a week and found out they were perfuming. Lucky to get resale tickets. Great live experience and our first concert since the pandemic started.

  • FABULOUS SHOW

OMD, the band put on an amazing show!! Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park was a great outdoor venue. We lucked out with beautiful weather. If it had rained, I don't know if the show would have been so good. Even with the dry weather the grass was quite muddy. I can't comment on the bathrooms as I didn't use them. I had a great night! THANKS!!

  • The best!

OMD is such a great live act that I will continue to see them whenever they come. They have 40 years' worth of hits and, a rare thing: recent material that is actually good. The outdoor venue was great for a sunny day but could have been scary considering how much it rains here.

  • OMD at Malkin Bowl

by Be the Rainbow on 2022-05-24Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Wow! My friends and I were so impressed by OMD. I saw them back in 1986 at Thunderbird Arena and now all these years later, they are still amazing! Their interaction with the audience and the quality of music was outstanding, not to mention the wonderful venue. This is my favourite venue for concerts!

  • Didn’t disappoint

Wonderful live show in the open air if Vancouver. Both nostalgic to listen to songs from the early 89’s through to some awesome new material in recent years. Hope they keep on going as long as possible

Ive never seen OMD, but been a fan since the early years. They did not disappoint! Started on time, smart stage setup, very clean. The band looked good, great energy, this exceeded my expectations. Convincing, relevant show that was time limited to 2 hours based on park 10pm curfew. Ahem exactly why Parks Board? Can’t still be Coyotes or Covid , sooo? Anyhow there were great visual projections, awesome lighting and the sound system of exceptionally high quality in clarity and punchiness. All their good hits , some new songs, vocals were great. Best show in a long time , also a lovely sunset snd cool spring night at Malkin Bowl that wasn’t soggy,. One quibble, can Malkin Bowl Mgt make a better effort to inform patrons that all booze sales are CASH ONLY? So many people walk all the way down, up the maze to buy booze tix first , many finding out only then, they have to go all the way back to the entrance to get $$ from tbe ATM. And after that hoop you still have ID check and then there’s moving on to do the ticket for drink thing. Buying a drink in ridiculous! But OMD we awesome.
