    Janelle Monae is on fire!

by EdenRose on 2013-10-20Kool Haus - Toronto

This was probably one of the best, most energetic shows I've seen all year! I almost lost it when she broke into a cover of the Jackson Five's "I Want You Back." This was her "Electric Lady" tour, and she lived up to the name. Channeling a bit of James Brown, Prince and some old school Motown, the high energy was fantastic and I recommend seeing her if you get a chance!

    Janelle Monae, the performer!

by thegiggirl on 2012-07-12Mainstage Marquee at Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

Fantastic show! I've seen quite a few live shows this across many genres but this show had a n energy all its own. Janelle Monae and the Wondaland society had just as much fun as onlookers, which isn't always apparent. The event was held in an event tent at Nathan Philips Square.

Janelle Monae was a ball of fun

by Kikz on 2012-06-25Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

Her opening act Roman Gian Arthur, who is also apart of the Wondaland society, revved us up for Ms. Janelle Monae. He was awesome on his guitar and had a smooth voice. The whole crew, band, backup singers and Janelle herself were electrifying. I was happy to hear her tributes to her influences, Prince and the Jackson 5. I must mention Kallindo her guitarist is amazing, I could go watch him anytime! Also, her Goldfinger performance showed her true theartrical performance as she's quirky and cute. The only bad thing was the venue, I don't know why there was a smoky atmosphere but it made it somewhat hot. Overall, I was very happy that the TD jazz festival had Janelle Monae as an opening artist, she's dominating her own lane and shows us that real LIVE music can still be made!

    unforgettable!

by FiniBergman on 2012-06-24Mainstage Marquee at Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

What can't she do? She's wild and focussed all at once, approachable yet enigmatic, a soulful 'automaton' -- the creature of Metropolis infected with contagious energy. I was surprised that many chairs weren't set up, so only us earlybirds (fanatics) got seating. That left most people grumbling and standing. It didn't matter. Everyone (except one grump) was standing, dancing, cheering, revelling! Roman GianArthur, I await your New release with much anticipation. Your set was too short! Janelle, you are welcome back any time!
