The preformance was well above expectations! Strong voices carried the show. I had expected that I would not like the singing as well as that on the ablum, but was plesantly suprised to hear an excellant job. I would highly recommend this show and would see it again myself!

Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 2010-01-08Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton Rating: 2 out of 5by Anonymous on 2010-01-07Prince George CN Centre - Prince George The set was poor, some of the performers had talent, but not all. The costume design was lacking and the production quality was disappointing. Definately a let-down for me.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Jesus Christ Superstar was super
by Guyzerone on 2010-01-07Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryI fell in love with the music, and saw the movie, in the early 70s. The show was great. Ted Nealy, at nearly 60 years old, is still a fantastic singer. The supporting cast, especially the characters of Judas and Mary Magdalene, were right on.

by NancyandStu on 2010-01-07Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryThe actors played their roles extremely well and we really enjoyed the production. The orchestral music arrangement was also very wll done. the accoustics in the remodelled Jubilee are very good for this type of production. Stage set is simple but effective. Well done.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Jesus is so old
by BiggerFanThanYou on 2010-01-07Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryI realize it's been 37 years since Ted Neeley played the pivotal role as Jesus in the movie but someone needs to tell him that he's now a bit too old for the part. Judas and Chiaphas were great and the rest of the cast did a good job. The leper scene was less than stellar and look a bit odd with all the heads poking through the "sheet".

by rupert3 on 2010-01-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonSorry Ted Neely, your voice is amazing but the role belongs to a younger man. A receding thinning hairline on Jesus just 'did not fit.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Amazing singing!
by barbg on 2010-01-06Prince George CN Centre - Prince GeorgeI've always loved the movie and the soundtrack - for many years - and was impressed that Ted Neeley is still performing. I'm glad I saw him but he should pass the role to a younger performer. The supporting cast was excellent! I particularly liked Judas and Mary Magdalene. Their singing was superb. Jesus' voice no longer has the richness and vibrancy of the younger days and it's plain next to all the voices around him. Still I'm glad I finally got to see him
Rating: 4 out of 5 Perfectly memorable
by GrammaParrot on 2010-01-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonThe cast was wonderful; their voices beautiful. Ted Neely was a joy to see (finally) though his voice was occasionally somewhat strained. He received a warm welcome from the audience which was acknowledged in character. Even though the show has been touring for a long while, there were many younger people there who may not have understood the minimalist set. I enjoyed the whole production, the set, lighting, etc. The venue was most accommodating and comfortable for the audience and very suitable for the production. The music was wonderful and is still playing in my head. Thank you for the opportunity to express my appreciation.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Time nearly up for aging Neely
by macktown on 2010-01-06Prince George CN Centre - Prince GeorgeI have been a fan of Jesus Christ Superstar for a very long time. I was a little concerned about Ted Neely's age and when he made his first appearance I thought to my self "Yikes I hope he still has the vocals to pull this off" Ted looked old and a little fragile. Judas , who has most of my favorite songs, was good and then it was time for Jesus to sing :Whats the buzz" Teds' voice cracked a few times and I was more than worried about him pulling off the big notes that were still to come. Bottom line is that he did pull it off and was a Superstar especially in the second half. The cast was very good , Pilate and Herod were highlights for me. It was a very good performance but its time for Ted Neely to pass the torch.
Rating: 4 out of 5 JC Superstar
by Rubii on 2010-01-06Prince George CN Centre - Prince GeorgeThe show was phenomenal and Ted Neeley is truly an icon. However, it is true - he is not a young man anymore and especially with the rest of the cast being in their 20s and 30s, he did look a little aged for the role, but boy he could still belt out those high notes in Gethsemane. Andrew Hartley as Herod was very entertaining and John Twiford in the role of Judas was awesome. (For some reason I kept thinking "Rasputin" while watching him - I bet he would make a great Rasputin : )

by psalmone1 on 2010-01-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonEven though Ted Neely looked a little old to play Jesus (okay a lot old!) he still can sing!! Powerful voice that he used to great effect in this production. The whole cast was good - I really enjoyed it.
