Jim easily had as good a time playing his music as the audience did listening. He was energetic throughout the whole night. He rocked that guitar. He rocked that microphone. The setlist was perfect. A little bit of every album. One of the best concerts I've ever seen. Love this band.

About
Jimmy Eat World in Concert
Jimmy Eat World started in 1993 as a punk trio formed by childhood friends Jim Adkins and Zach Lind. After years of hard work in the studio and on the road, the band settled on a poppier sound, hitting the spotlight in 2001 with breakthrough album Bleed American. The album included several successful singles including "The Middle," which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became an MTV staple. After extensive touring in support of the album, the band returned to the studio for 2004's Futures, which peaked at No. 6 and earned the band another No. 1 single with "Pain." Chase This Light in 2007 and Invented in 2010 would achieve similar success, cementing the band's role as one of the most successful indie acts in the business.
In 2013, Jimmy Eat World celebrated 20 years of independently released records with Damage, their critically-acclaimed eighth studio album. At their live concerts, the band delivers a blast of non-stop energy and enthusiasm, delighting ticket buyers with heavy guitar riffs, boisterously precise drum solos, and three-part vocal harmonies anchored by the familiar croon of frontman Jim Adkins. 2013's Damage saw the band transition from teen-angst rock towards a more sophisticated sound, with lyrical content taking on a markedly more mature tone on singles like the album's title track and "I Will Steal You Back."

Rating: 5 out of 5 Jimmy kicked bum!
by Godney on 2011-05-28The Garrick Centre - WinnipegGreat show! They were tight as always. They played about 4 songs from the new album and 4 more from Clarity. The rest was evenly taken from their other albums, everything from lighter acoustic tracks to heavy rockers. There was something for every fan. Dizzy was my favorite. They finished strong with their most radio friendly tunes The middle and Sweetness. I saw them last time they were in Winnipeg, and I'll definitely be there when they come back.
Rating: 4 out of 5by useyourshoe on 2011-05-28The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg I'm not the biggest Jimmy Eat World fan, but that was a great concert. They had great stage presence and energy, and built up excitement with a well-composed set list. I'd recommend it to even the most casual Jimmy Eat World fans.

Rating: 4 out of 5by Jacquelyn on 2011-05-27Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton The lead singer was the only one that was entertaining to watch. Everyone else looked bored especially the drummer. Although, the music was played really well and I still enjoyed it overall. The crowd was lame. Everyone was just standing still.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Jimmy Eat World
by silentQ on 2011-05-25Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonOh the EEC, sometimes its an awesome venue and sometimes it sucks, luckily this time it was a great show, Jimmy Eat World were awesome, tight musically and didn't deny the crowd their favorite songs - saved Sweetness till the end of course - but they really don't engage the crowd much at all. It could have been that we didn't press up to the front of the stage so maybe we missed out on the 'intimate' interaction with the band but a 'Hey Edmonton' is nice ya know? Still all that aside I'd see them again, at any venue in the city, they are tight, they are fast going from song to song and they are creative with their music, all good things in a band we thought. Didn't love the opener - Colleen Brown Band - kinda thought it would've been a more 'rock' group, but would for sure see them again before casting judgement. Colleen is a great songstress, and the Band is worth taking the time to get into and all the rest of the musicians are easy on the eyes which always helps make a great show! Well worth being tired at work on a Tuesday!
Rating: 4 out of 5 A great show under cover
by Dollhouse on 2011-05-25Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonI'm sure I have ranted before about how much I hate the Edmonton Event Center as a venue. I will talk about it again today. There are three large pillars in the middle of the room that block many people's view of the stage. This venue would be able to hold much bigger and better shows but because of those pillars, they just can't accomodate the crowds. The light system is not favorable either. Most of the stage lights come from behind the band. I often find it difficult to see the people on stage. I don't go to live shows to listen to the band and get blinded. I go for the full experience. As for the actual show, it was exceptional. Jim Adkins (lead vocals, guitar) sounds as good live as he does on his albums. His performance is energized and it seems like he has fun in what he does. He clearly enjoys audience interaction/participation. I find that's a major aspect to a live show as well. I want to feel like the band is there with me, not like I'm in a crowded room watching one of their videos. The other band members were not as interactive I hate to say. They did a lot of "standing there". My theory is they're not the multi-taskers that Jim is. Moving around and playing might be too complicated. The band played an impressive 1.5 hour set followed by a three-song encore. Most songs came from their "Bleed American" and "Invented" albums. The other songs were from "Chase this Light" and "Futures". My highschool self was very happy with the setlist choices.
Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 2011-05-24Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver started out really strong, ended really well, but at some point in the middle it got sort of boring... the latest songs are really not so good. Overall a pretty solid live band though.

by Lisachristine4 on 2011-05-23Commodore Ballroom - VancouverLoved the concert & the venue! They are so amazing live - lots of energy, great stage presence, super talented! My only problem is that it was too short, although it was probably the typical length. Definitely will go again when I get the chance!!!
