About

Joan Jett grew up during a time when rock 'n' roll was off limits to girls and women, but as a teenager, she promptly blasted the door to the boys' club right off its hinges. After forming her band the Blackhearts in 1979, with whom Jett has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson and Clover." With a career that has spanned music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism, Joan Jett remains a potent force and inspiration to generations of fans worldwide. As a producer, she has overseen seminal albums by Bikini Kill, and the Germs' LA punk masterpiece 'GI.' Jett and Kenny Laguna (her longtime producer and music partner) co-founded Blackheart Records from the trunk of Kenny's Cadillac after rejections from no less than 23 labels. 40 years later, Blackheart is a thriving entertainment company producing music, film and television, and continues to champion emerging bands. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts continue to tour the world with headlining shows and alongside fellow rock legends like The Who, Green Day, Heart, Foo Fighters and Alanis Morrissette (Summer 2024). 'Bad Reputation,' a documentary about Jett's life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Following up on the band's 2022 releaseChangeup, their first-ever acoustic album, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' EPMindsetswas released as a Record Store Day First vinyl piece on 11/24/23.Mindsetsis available to stream now.

    Band: Awesome, Venue: Awful

by dinecake on 2011-05-23Emerald Queen Casino - Tacoma

The band was great, as usual! (the "Stars" were all all earned by the band, they get 10 stars - it would have been 5 if not for the venue) I have to say I won't be arranging a road trip to see JJ at the Emerald Queen again, sadly I wouldn't recommending anyone spend 1+ hours in a border line up, drive 4 hours and pay for a hotel room when you can't see anything from your seats and you couldn't leave your seat and go up front. There were 2 screens at the sides of the stage - but If I wanted to watch a video I'd stay home and watch You Tube for free. The room is huge and flat so being way at the back makes it impossible to see anything - sitting or standing. Everyone around us was complaining - you couldn't leave your seat and go up front either. AND we figured that even if we had paid double and gotten seats closer to the stage, it would have been the same type of view - you just need a few tall people in front of you and that's it - no view. PS: The band needs to put out more merch - we were all set to buy things and between us we pretty much had everything that was out!

    Loud in Leather!

by Totofan on 2010-09-13Pengrowth Saddledome - Calgary, AB

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts opened for Aerosmith this night and what a show they put on! Pretty much all the radio favourites were played with lots of energy, and that smouldering 'bad girl' sexy stuff that Joan can still pull off (hey, she's barely 50!). An excellent warm up band but still worthy of headlining a smaller venue. They definitely got the crowd rocking and smiling.
