About

JOE SATRIANI IN CONCERT:

Joe Satriani’s virtuoso guitar playing is more than just flawless technique and blistering speed -- he also forms an emotional connection with fans that is beyond words. His genuine love of riff-based rock ensures that audiences are in for a sonic thrill ride at his live shows, where his nimble fingers and finely tuned ear bring his ballads to life. While “Satch” (as friends and fans refer to him) turns melodies inside out and shreds up a storm, his cast of astounding supporting musicians keeps the grooves solidly rocking throughout six-string stunners like “Surfing with the Alien”, “Satch Boogie”, and “Flying in a Blue Dream”.  Ticket buyers are in for a transcendent instrumental experience that can't be beat, featuring a brilliant musician in impeccable form.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The highest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time, Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, NY in 1956. Before he gained fame, Satch made a living teaching some of the most influential guitarists of the ‘80s, including Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Steve Vai (David Lee Roth), and Larry LaLonde (Primus). His solo career took off with the hits “Always with Me, Always with You” and “Satch Boogie” off his 1987 album Surfing with the Alien. He kept his hot streak alive with his next two albums Flying in a Blue Dream (1988) and The Extremist (1992), which both went gold. In 1996 Satriani started the G3 Tour with friends Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to bring instrumental guitar music to the masses. In 2008 Satch joined forces with former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals), Michael Anthony (bass), and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to create the supergroup Chickenfoot. While those projects keep him crazy busy, Satriani still continues to tour and record as a solo artist, releasing Unstoppable Momentum in 2013.

    Joe Satriani was AWESOME

by LynnPont on 2011-01-08Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Very excellent concert in Kelowna Jan 6th. To me, Joe's guitar in almost all of his songs takes the place of lyrics... it's as if his guitar is singing the song.. it's very strange and beautiful music!

Joe puts on a great show

by bobbywasabi on 2011-01-07Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The Jubilee is a great venue for a concert like this. Sound was great, loud enough to feel the music but still to hear everything clearly. Earplugs were not necessary. Joe's tone was fantastic. It amazes me how he can remember what to play on all those songs and he never seems to miss a note. He is a guitar legend.

    Joe was great!!

by leroysdad on 2011-01-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Joe Satriani was at his best. Right from the start. he broke into riffs that were extremely intricate and well preformed. The nite consisted of tunes that were not for the faint of heart. Song after song showed the command that satriani has of the guitar.

    Joe Satriani show was great

by piterklu on 2010-12-16Métropolis - Montreal

Everything was excelent, except two things. I was close the scene on the left side. My wife had camera Nikon D80, it's good camera but not professional, and she was making photos. I think that the official photographer realized that it's a good spot and he maybe thought that he had competition cause suddenly security guy ask my wife if she has permition to do photos this camera and he asked not to do the photos. So I don't have to much nice pictures of this show. I'm asking what ta hell, everybody was doing the pictures and filming the show with their cameras and nobody was against. Maybe security should have some training of types of cameras cause it was ridiculous. Another thing, all the time crowd was interupted by guys with trays of beer. I was on many shows but I have never seen such a thing. It's not Octoberfest. If somebody wants to drink a beer during the show there are bars both side of scene. Joe Satriani on the stage and I have to make a room every 10 minutes for the guy with the beer. I think something is wrong. Plus DVD was reliesed and now everybody will have oppurtunity to see that in Montreal people istead give applause they prefer to drink a beer. I now Metropolis has to earn money but maybe it's disrespect for Joe. AAA and one funny thing:) security guy who was standing close to scene was yawning all the time and I hope that cameras didn't record him. That's all folks Peter

    Joe Satriani Rocks Montreal!!!

    by 69King on 2010-12-15Métropolis - Montreal

This is the best Joe Satriani's show I have ever seen! I have already seen superb performance by Joe on 3G tour (and on all of his DVDs) but this show was simply amazing! Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed a fantastic night attending this show; definitely worth the price! As always, we could read the pleasure of mastering the guitar on Joe's face. This was entertainment at its best! The crowd was enjoying every moment of Joe's flawless performance, always wanting more. I hope the new DVD / Blue Ray will be available soon so we can relive that memorable show in our home while waiting for Joe's next visit to Montreal.

Joe enters the outer limits of wormhole wizards

    by Brent123 on 2010-12-11Massey Hall - Toronto

Nothing short of spectacular! Joe was on, as usual ... Never missed a stroke! Even though his lights and visual effects were modest, they added a new dimension of space and depth to his wormhole trip to outer space. A brilliant selection of fan favorites and new Black Swan choices... Loved that the played "Light Years Away" as the first new track he played. The sound quality was just about as good as Massey Hall can deliver for hard rock! Over-all it was worth every penny. Would loved to cough up the big bucks for the special VIP pass and meet Joe afterwards, but the concert itself was outstanding.

    Joe's finger marathon!

by hiboudolly on 2010-12-11Massey Hall - Toronto

I was really happy with the song selection. I wanted to hear the whole new album and he played most of it. There were times when I was watching his fingers in complete awe. So many notes in such a little time but always pleasant to the ears. As always, I was disappointed with the conservativeness of the Toronto crowd. Joe's music, although strongly appreciated by guitar nutties, screams to be danced to and watching people sitting still at a concert freaks me out.

    Joe Satriani ...brilliant!

    by 6dollarman on 2010-12-10Massey Hall - Toronto

While many musicians as they age gradually seem to struggle with writing great music. Not Joe. His music just gets better and better. I have seen 60-70 major acts from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd ,ACDC to Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Joe Satriani's show is one of my all time favourites.

    Satriani Satisfies

by pcarel on 2010-12-10Massey Hall - Toronto

What can you say about Joe that hasn't already been said before. His playing technique is superb. His riffs and melodies make any guitar player drool. The band was very tight and played tune after tune never disappointing his legion of fans. I took a couple of buddies to the show whom weren't very familiar with Joe's music and they were blown away.

Joe Satriani Is Not Of This Earth!

by Zeliig on 2010-12-10Massey Hall - Toronto

If there is a better live performer than joe around i have yet to see them. His tone is simply unmatched and he doesn't miss a note. His improvising on songs is simply incredible. The set list was great and the sound in massey hall is excellent. Joe Satriani is one of the very few artist's who sound better live than their studio recording's. He opened with Ice 9 and closed with Summer Song, 2 of the best piece's of music ever written. The opening act lasted 20 minutes and joe rocked it out for 2 and a half hours. It was hands down the best concert i have seen.In my opinion Joe Satriani is one of the ten greatest guitar player's of all time.

He is such an amazing performer. He played for over 2 hours and had the crowd off its feet for a good part of it. I would highly recommend checking his shows out the next time he is in town. You won't be disappointed.
