I have been a fan of John’s for almost 40 years. This concert was amazing, he did not disappoint the crowd. Great concert.
Really great to see John again. Great mix of new and clasdic songs. The sound was a bit off, with vocals getting overwhelmed by the music plus a lack of clarity. Not sure the Orpheum is the best venue for a rock show
Great show by John and his band. Video at the beginning could be shorter, but the rest of the show they play most of John's hits that you will sing along to. Mellencamp is one of my all time favourite's.
Really enjoyed the entire show. John was clearly there because he enjoys entertaining and connecting with the crowd. He played his old hits, but also gave moments of just acoustic guitar and even a blues, which made for a nice rounded and enjoyable show.
He still has it. I have always enjoyed his older stuff, as well as his last few albums. After this show I rediscovered his stuff from the 2000s. His grandmother's passing forced him to come to terms with his mortality, and in typical Mellencamp fashion, he captured it in brilliant lyrics. The balance between the music and the singing was perfect. Too often the music washes out the singing. He has a great band. I still can't believe he came to my town!
The first 30 minutes of the concert was video of his life story, for a 2 hour concert I don’t think we got our money’s worth. The experience was much better the last time he in Saskatoon.
Wasn’t impressed with no large screen, it took away from the overall experience. Enjoyed the music and the set list
Awesome, his band was great and he was still the same always good
All very good, however I would suggest that he bring a big screen so all actually can see. Despite being in an arena it was alright he had a smaller crowd so it could have been a center stage concert rather than at one end then this would have accommodated the paying public far better! Thanks
A 26 minute documentary of John Mellencamp’s life and career was an insult to his fans who already know who he is and how he got there. It bored everyone to death and set a bad tone for the start of the concert. If we wanted to see a documentary we would have stayed home and watched TV. It was a horrible choice as a time filler. As a result, I won’t be going to another of his concerts. However, John Mellencamp is one of America’s finest song writers and a very good performer. He has excellent musicians in his band, as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the concert, once it FINALLY got started.
Knowing some of John Mellancamp’s songs are quite upbeat and have decent energy, you’d expect the concert to reflect that energy. Unfortunately it did not. The start of the show is the crowd watching a 30 minute video of his life and career. If I had wanted to see that, I can watch it on the Internet. The performance starts and the entire show is low energy. The band is wearing suits and a dress. John is in mechanic’s overalls. Can’t say I thought it was a good wardrobe choice. The band seldom smiles or shows any emotion. The band pretty much stands still except for occasional all coming up to the front of the stage in a line and then falling back when John starts to sing the next verse. I was very disappointed and will not go to see John perform again. It’s clear his Glory Days are behind him.
Loved more of the older songs. Wasn’t familiar with some of his newer songs.
Such a good show. His voice sounded as good as i remember. Thourougly enjoyed my time at this event.
John Mellencamp still has it. He was awesome. The seats need to be a little further apart, almost sitting on people’s laps. Loved all the old and new songs.
Great concert for a small market, didn’t play 2 of his biggest hits but band played amazing!
Loved the choice of new and old songs. When He Did the Old Songs it was like a Gaint singalong With everone singing and dancing.......great concert.....
This concert was a memory i will never forget his voice still rocks he is amazing sound was great seats were great i will always remember this concert in my top 3 for sure john cougar kicks ass amazing.
The video that was provided at the beginning of the concert instead of a warm up band was simply awful. It was so boring and not well made. Everyone at the concert was talking amongst themselves and not watching the video. I would have showed up a half hour later if I new I was going to be subjected to that! The concert itself was great, he still has an amazing voice. I really like his new music as well as his old hits. I wish he would have played more of his new songs at the concert. I wish the concert was a bit longer, he didn't do an encore. His band is also great.
John Mellencamp voice was still like it was in the 80.s He sang well and enjoyed the concert, Just wish there was an encore , liked the intimate setting. 5 stars definitely!
Some bluesy ballads and a big serving of old favourites. Still gives a great night for his fans.
