Another great show from John Mellencamp. Show rock then slows down then Rock for about the last hour. Plays for 2 hours sounded excellent great band too.
The venue was wonderful. The Orpheum was fabulous. John was personable, funny, joking, chatting and his singing was amazing. A must see for anyone.
John is a great musician Cool. Funny simple loved the concert. Will be with me til I die Sad to see the real talented musicians to starting to pass away. Miss the 80s And also don't like they don't take cash
We travelled to the Vancouver concert from Kelowna by plane just for the concert and since it was a smaller venue seemed like a great thing to do. The show was to start at 8pm and it did. However there was a 30 minute movie to start it off that were clips from old movies with Marlon Brando, Humphrey Bogart, Liz Taylor all put together into one movie. Crowd started to boo after 15 minutes, but I guess they just wanted to see John. He came on at 8:30 and was good. There were local security guys at the front of the stage chasing everyone back to their seats as I stood there filming him sing. Next thing some big guy comes to the local security guy beside me and tells him to get lost as he was taking over security. The big guy let me stay at the stage and keep filming. The older music that most people came for really got the fans on their feet. He did some story telling with lots of f words, so if it didnt bother you who cares. He also smoked lit cigarettes on stage, unusual to be allowed but money and fame rules. He played one encore and went off stage at the end of the encore and I guess everyone thought he was coming back on for one more but he didnt. Kind of a strange ending but I enjoyed the smaller venue and the songs he played. A good show overall.
I guess before buying tickets to see John I should. I realize that his performance would be far from what it wouldโve been many years ago.
Great concert.Love the mix of old and new material.Nice to see Bandmates that are enthusiastic who have stuck together for the most part for years. This was my third time seeing Mellancamp and it never gets old.
The first half an hour, they showed 6 - five minute black and white films. After the first three, the audience was starting to get mad, some where booing. I felt that the films were way too long, and so did some of the audience. Other than that, the show was good.
Loved the intimate venue! Sound was fantastic. Only complaint would be how close the rows are together with no leg room.

John Mellencamp put on a wonderful show @ the beautiful Orpheum Theatre! Hard to believe heโs 71, he looked & sounded awesome! His voice is a bit raspier, but still strong & sounding great. Much of the crowd didnโt like the movie clips before the concert started, but he played a solid two hours, so people left happy I think. My only complaint was the drunk lady in the crowd who swore at John for trying something a bit different. Heโs an artist whoโs given people so much over the years, so he should be allowed some artistic leeway!
The video for the first 30 mins did have me wondering what was going on, am I in the right place? Although it was interesting and informative, I thought it was a little too long. Other than that, the actual show was truly entertaining! John can still rock it!! So glad I was able to experience this! Thank you.
Of course as a long time fan, I really appreciate Johnโs amazing musicianship and songwriting. He brings back so many wonderful memories for me. Thatโs the gift of music. My only wish, because he played in such an iconic theatre (The Orpheum in Vancouver), is that it was more unplugged. I think the acoustic guitar would have sounded much better. The electric guitar was too much noise for that venue. All in all, heโs one of the best. Again, love love love him!!!!
Excellent experience, it was very fun and great to see John Mellencamp
John Mellencamp was amazing ! He sang all his hits plus more !! He had so much energy and didnโt disappoint!! He even called out the rowdies for spoiling others experience , which was amazing even though they didnโt listen ! Great experience !
10 minutes before 8:00pm an announcement came up saying the show will start on time except that instead of the show starting we sat and watch old movies for 30 minutes. Audience was beginning to get impatient. No encore. Not the best venue for a rock concert.
Music great the 25 minute viewing to start could be shortened to 10 minutes. If John feels he needs to share with us fans shorter would be better. Always enjoyed his music. This was the 15th time over the years I have seen him live๐
This was the third time Iโve seen him in concert. The other two concerts were fantastic, but this recent experience was not good. Old movies were played for the audience for about 30 minutes. It went on and on and the crowd was getting restless. John finally came out and sang several songs nobody seemed to know . He did about 4 popular songs that were fantastic. Not enough for the cost and effort on a Monday night ..
Not to bad, first time to see JCM . The crowd was roady the screen show was way to long. The sound was great bass a bit high, from our seats row 17 seat 9,10. Was ok some tall people in front but usually are. Overall great venue and JCM didn't disappoint.
Mellencamp gave his heart 5 star performance. The opening with black & white movie clips was stroke of genius, very interesting. The venue is not the best for patrons standing waving their arm wildly, spilling their drinks acting 16 as long as they can, at everyone's expense. Mellencamp was great, the view of two wide bouncy derriere's & the their red wine on my clothes was not as enjoyable. Hurt so good.
