"It's not for me to say" - but "Chances Are" if you went to the Johnny Mathis concert this weekend you have a "Certain Smile" on your face. I went "By Myself, and what "A lovely way to spend a Eveninig" I "Cant Get out of this Mood" , I seem to get all "Misty" just thinking about it. The "Last time I Felt like This" It was "Wonderful Wonderful"
He walked onto the stage without fanfare, said hello, and began to sing. We were entranced! He did two beautiful sets of music, combining full songs with medleys of some of his most beloved tunes. The backup orchestra added luxurious sounds to his very beautiful voice which is as strong as ever. I would go see him again, anytime!
Our second time around seeing Johnny Mathis and he was just amazing and we would go to see him again!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed the concert. I felt that it was for seniors more than the baby boomers. The band was terrific and so was the comedian. Johnny was gracious and even came back for a curtain call. He sang many of the songs that were very familiar to me. I do wish that he had put a little bit more energy into the concert.
I have always been a long time fan of Johny Mathis. I think all of his songs are written from his heart with true meaning . He is an icon of love songs that is totally missed by song artist today. I was a little spectacle about him reliving his music, but he was absolutely fantastic, not only with his voice , but also with his humbleness. I would encourage everyone to take in his performance , because they will not be dissapointed.
Totally enjoyed the show from start to finish. Johnny Mathis is a Legend is his time and still has that smooth way about him. Every song brought tears to my eyes. Very Happy I went and would go again anytime.
The last time we saw Johhny Mathis was in the 60's at the O'Keefe Centre in Toronto (now the Hummingbird Centre) we have all aged well - we enjoyed listening to Johnny - brought back good memories of the 50's, 60's . We attended this concert with the same friends we were with when we first saw him at the Toronto concert. It is great to see that he is in great shape and still can sing the oldies but goodies. The only thing I found disappointing was - not with Johhny -but with the audience - this concert was at Rama Casino in Orillia. Ontario Canada - and I found the audience comiing in late and constantly leaving the venue was rude - I don't know if Johhny could see all the comings and goings of the audience - you would think that they could sit through a less than 2 hr performance without getting up and going out - if it was a bathroom thing - maybe they should be handing out "depends on the way in". Probably was that they wanted to get back to the gambling... nevertheless - I just thought it was desruptive to me and probably others who came to see a wonderful show, and very rude to the performer. Hopefully Johnny didn't see all this activity - Other than that,it was a very enjoyable show - and especially since he has been doing this for 50 years....
great show - wish Johnny did a bit more talking during show - comedian was very funny seats at Casino Rama too close together - need a little more room - butting against other people
As good as he was when we were young and falling in love. When he reached those high notes he made me shiver. My husband and I were brought back to those heady days of young love and raging hormones. Will see Johnny again when the opportunitiy arises.
Seats are horribly uncomfortable. Great singer but not a showman.

Johnny Mathis performed before an enthusiastic crowd on Thursday with a dedication to his voice and fans that will not soon be forgotten. Although he is past 70 years old, his voice was in fine form, indicating a true professional who exercises care for a singer who has become a national treasure as a vocalist for ballads and standards. During the two hour show, there were magical moments where he transported the crowd back to his early hits, including 'Chances Are, 'Wonderful, Wonderful,' as well as the classic, 'Misty.' Age in the singer may have demonstrated strain in a few of the softer notes, or greater difficulty reaching parts of a song that possess a higher pitch, but his interpretive skills continue to grow and shine in this wonderful singer. His singing was a marvel for all who appreciate a great song performed by a truly wonderful legend in popular music!
The show was fabulous, Johnny Mathis still has a lovely voice and his choice of songs gave me goosebumps. The comedian was an added bonus and his act was great. Laughter is truly a wonderful medicine. My sister and I couldn't stop talking about the show.
I was thrilled to hear Johnny Mathis sing last night. His voice is as smooth and velvety as it has always been. Of course the repertoire he sings is unforgettable and his band, in particular his pianist, are first-class musicians! Mathis is also first-class, dressed with impecably good taste and still in very good shape for his age. He is handsome and has a smile that radiates for miles! It was a delightful evening. His "intermission" comedian Gary Mule Deer was absolutely hilarious and I would go to an entire show of his given the opportunity. My husband and I were still howling as we drove home. A magical evening indeed!
Johnny Mathis was the ultimate performer in every respect, a true professional who give 100% plus. This was the best show I have ever seen and can't wait for his return to Casino Rama.
Mathis was magnificent. He is one of the legends, a true pro. He uses his still very rich and unique voice as if it were one of the instruments of the 26 piece orchestra which accompanied him.
Many of 'his' songs with their first note of the music rendition to follow brought gasps of anticipation from the audience! His voice still epitomizes the listener's hearing and comprehension capabilities in the world of sound as "look at me" (Misty) and "Maria". You had to hold your breath until that inkling of the sound you were waiting for arrived.
The concert was just okay. JMathis sang familiar and popular songs; orchestra was good. However, JMathis did not connect directly with audience; he seemed shy on stage. He would be better performing at a small, intimate music lounge where his less-than-powerful voice would carry better. The mid-show comedy act was great and funny - brought life to the audience.
I think it was marvelous that Johnny could still perform at his age, and even though he cannot give the performance he could have given at one time, it was still vintage Johnny Mathis, and and I loved every minute of it. I was so happy that I got to see him perform in person because he is a one-of-a-kind phenomena and will never be replaced.
Johnny Mathis was great, his voice is the same as it was 30 years ago. He has the most amazing voice in the world. His performance was great. The comedian he had a 1/2 time was so funny. The only thing is the chairs that you have to sit on. I guess I'm used to the Princes of Wales, Royal Alec. But I would come again dispite the chairs....they could have been worse I guess.
