About

Johnny Reid on Tour

When Johnny Reid introduces a song, his natural Scottish burr is plain as day, but as soon as the Canadian country star — who moved to Canada as a kid — starts to sing, the North American spirit inhabits him. Reid's voice is full of classic country twang, but at the same time it bears a gruff brand of soulfulness that can sometimes make him sound like a country version of Bruce Springsteen. The band pumping away behind him sports a similar mixture of musical flavors, bringing a dash of rock 'n' roll and soul to Reid's countrified tunes. Never one to put on airs, Reid brings a guy-next-door vibe to his performances, no matter how big the venue, and even when he's got the crowd singing along in an arms-aloft anthem, he still has a way of maintaining an intimate connection with his audience on every song.

Johnny Reid in Concert

When Johnny Reid was a child in the small Scottish town of Lanark, it would have seemed incredibly unlikely that he would grow up to become a Canadian country music star — but that's exactly what he did. Reid was 13 when he and his family made the move to Canada, and it didn't take long for him to soak up the North American vibe that would one day guide his career. In 1997 Reid released his debut album, Another Day, Another Dime. It wasn't until his third album, 2005's Born to Roll, that things really began to take off for Reid; the single "Gypsy Soul" hit No. 12 on the Canadian country charts, and the album eventually went platinum in Canada. Solidly on the path to stardom, Reid went on to score a long string of hits in the years to come. In the process, he also managed to rack up an astonishing number of honors, including multiple Juno awards, and a towering heap of awards from the Canadian Country Music Association.

    Palmerston concert

by Jala on 2009-10-12Palmerston Arena - Palmerston

Johnny Reid gets a 5 star rating. Second time we've seen him in concert and he put on another fantastic show. Just loved it. The venue at Palmerston arena was another story. Poorly organized. Tickets said 7:00 pm start. Lined up outside in cold for long time, crowd didn't start moving in until after 7; freezing cold inside too; couldn't find seats because the lights were out. Disappointing venue. Good thing we love JR so you kind of forget about that once he started his show!

Palmerston arena was freezing but by the end of the nite you wanted to stay all nite just to be able to hear and see more. amazing singer, amazing man

by birchsmom on 2009-10-12Palmerston Arena - Palmerston

His concert was the best I have ever been to. His interaction with the audience was fantastic. It was nice to see him dance with an older woman. You know she will never forget it. Most artists only interact with the young girls. Just because your not 25 anymore doesn't mean you don't feel the same way about an artist. I will never forget his concert in Palmerston and was amazed he even considered playing in a town with 2500 population. Most small town people are intimidated driving to the big cities where most artists have concerts. Thankyou Johnny for the memorable experience.

Johnny Reid was amazing in spite of the mess

by Delaniesmom on 2009-10-12Palmerston Arena - Palmerston

Johnny Reid was so totally amazing. So badly unorganized by arena. They never started letting people in until 7. Victoria Banks started at 7 so we walked with her saying Thank You and Good Bye. We totally missed her. The seating was terrible. We we so squished we had to sit sideways. But Johnny put on a great show and you can sure tell he appreciates his audience.

Johnny Reid - Amazing- Yet disapointed

by ShannonBouffard on 2009-10-11Miscellaneous Venues Northern Region - Muskoka

We went, We saw, We enjoyed the show. For a small town like Elliot Lake to pull in Johnny Reid is truly amazing. Unfortunately I was very disapointed when yet again Johnny Reid would not grace us with his presence to sign our photos or CD's. He did the same thing at country fest. I can honestly say, it will be last time I see Johnny Reid. I would recomment his show to people, but tell them up front not to expect this new star to sit out front after for a meet and greet. I waited an hour and half in line at country fest, missed his whole concert to be 8th person in line to meet Mr. Reid, to find out after he was done performing that he was in a rush and had leave right at that moment. Not impressed Mr. Reid.

Johhny Reid - worth the trip

by Grumpylou on 2009-09-20Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

The 7 hour drive from Terrace to Prince George was a small price to pay to see this fantastic entertainer in action. His voice and the feeling he put into every song made me a believer. The floor seats provided a great view for the concert but the were spaced much too close together...unless you weighed 95 pounds! I would gladly go to see him again. Ciao

    Johnny Reid was absolutely incredible!

by MichelleM1971 on 2009-09-08Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

Johnny Reid far exceeded my expectations. I found him to be an amazing performer and an incredible person. He was able to reach out to everyone at the venue and make it a personal moment; actually mingling among the audience during a couple songs. There were a couple of children who truly benefited from this as Johnny picked them up and sang to them. He also brought up a little boy on stage during another song; Johnny offered him his tie but he didn't want to wear it. All in all, it was a truly unforgettable experience, one I would gladly attend again.

Johnny Reid has an amazing voice!!!

by Bang on 2009-09-08Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

Johnny Reid is a wonderful entertainer and he really knows how to get the crowd going. He has a voice that"s cross between Rod Stewart and Bob Sieger. I saw him at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival in 2007 and then in Prince George on the 3rd of September. I would go see him anytime. My only disappointment was when he went into the crowd but not over by us!!!

Johnny Reid's concert in Prince George was first class all the way - My husband and I enjoyed his performance from the moment he stepped out on the stage to his closing (call-back) song of "Thank You". It was a pure crowd pleasing event for all ages - I would definitely see him again. Thank you Johnny for such a wonderful evening!!

by BoobyBoy on 2009-09-07Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

One of the best entertainers I've seen in years! "A very intimate evening" would be the right billing for his show. It was non stop from beginning to end. I liked the way he acknowledged all the band members and informed us where they were from. A real CLASS ACT!!

    Johnny Reid was fantastic!!!

by finnigan on 2009-09-07Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

If you ever have the opportunity to see Johnny Reid take it as he is an amazing singer and entertainer. He involves the audience, young and old, from the moment he sets foot on the stage until he leaves. I will definitley be going to see him again!!!! I've heard him described as the Rod Stewart of country music - HE IS WAY BETTER THAN ROD STEWART - you have to hear him to believe it.
