About

Journey in Concert

As the original legends of arena rock, few bands in existence put on a show quite like Journey. Anchored by singer Arnel Pineda's thrilling vocals and Neal Schon's unstoppable guitars, the band continues to show fans, both old and new, exactly how it's done as they tear through marathon sets of classics like "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Open Arms." After a short break from their relentless tour schedule, they're primed to blow minds again in 2014, pairing up with Steve Miller Band for select dates that are sure to be the stuff of classic rock legend for years to come.

Journey Background

San Francisco-born Journey is the quintessential arena rock band. Assembled in 1973 from the ashes of Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band has since gone through a number of line-up changes — only stalwart guitarist Neal Schon has been with every incarnation. Despite a rotating roster, the band has sold 47 million albums in the US, and is consistently named one of the ten best American rock bands in history. While the '70s and '80s provided them with the most commercial success, their current manifestation with Filipino singer Arnel Pineda has given them truly global breadth.

    Awesome!

by iAN on 2024-03-15SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Had a blast watching the band play live. The production was awesome, they got the crowd involved and I'm pretty sure we all sang to almost all if not all of their songs! Great venue too! Hope to catch them again along with Toto, they should definitely come back and do another one, and we will all be there that's for sure!

    Very good concert experience.

by Oak on 2024-03-15SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

I have worked many concerts as a local stagehand in the past, and have paid to see a few since. This Toto and Journey Concert was worth every penny. Both groups did a great job. Really Enjoyable. Great stage show, light show, vocals, music and many great songs.

    It was great

by Ted on 2024-03-14SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

It was great being able to enjoy Journeys Music and 50 year anniversary wow. And bonus Toto. Being on the older side I would have liked the volume turned down slightly, the acoustics seamed to suffer(clarity) somewhat at times.

    My "Journey"

by CurlerGirl on 2024-03-14SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Journey was excellent. All the hits were covered and the guitar solo Canadian anthem was awesome and a surprise. I had read that the new lead singer has worked tirelessly to be able to sing the hits as Steve Perry did and it definitely showed. The band was tight and on key. Arnel Pineda was lively onstage, made an effort to travel through the crowd on the floor and high five people. He never stopped smiling and looked like he was enjoying himself. The only downfall was the venue (Sask Tel Centre, Saskatoon). The parking/traffic situation was horrible - we spent two hours trying to get to the concert - traffic did not move. It took us 1.5 hours to travel less than 2 km from the main road leading to the Centre to the parking area and as a result we missed the entire opening act (Toto) so cannot provide a review. Thank goodness we made it on time for Journey and would definitely recommend going to see them live (just at another venue).

A great time was had! Seats not too far away and the screens made it better to see up close to each performer.

    It was okay

by Double gg on 2024-03-14SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

If the sound was a little bit quieter then you could have heard the singers better. When the concert was over we heard quite a few people saying the same

    Enjoyed the music

by Lady on 2024-03-14Rogers Place - Edmonton

Fun night of great music! Really appreciated both bands, Toto and Journey. We found Toto was more clear for sound whereas Journey was good but too loud at time, drowned out the lead singer. Great lead singer with Journey!

Long but great music by both bandsm

    by Electra_1 on 2024-03-14SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

The concert was great! Toto was also great! Out seats were near the left side speakers, so we got some very loud music with very quiet vocals. Also all the action was on the right side of the stage when t-shirts and gifts were being thrown out. I love journey, but I'm way past the long solo instrumentals. Some very good playing, whammy til your ears bled. Could have been less of that. The guys are getting old, but still tight. Lead singer was like a monkey running around. Very good voice. Concert was nearly 4 hours

    Life changing experience

by Tornado on 2024-03-13SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Toto and Journey were very good. Surprised when they didn't end with Don't Stop Believin Shocked when my wife went into labor a couple hours after the show. Sweet sounds of Journey may cause your wife to have a child! Buyer beware.

    Parking needs attention

by CherylBeryl on 2024-03-13SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

The staff were amazing at getting people seated. The sound was off during Johnathon cains' solo performance. The downside was the parking. We sat in traffic for well over an hour and missed the start of the show. There needs to be a better plan to get people in and out of the venue.

Bad Speakers. Sounded like a bad megaphone.

    by Rpm7000 on 2024-03-13SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

After TOTO the sound system was pretty bad. It ruined my anticipation of experiencing an awesome Journey Concert.

    Wow

by Rush on 2024-03-13Rogers Place - Edmonton

I wish Toto had played about 20 more songs. They just blew me away. Professional & entertaining. Journey was also great. I had seen them a few times before. They played all the hits & we’re very tight.

    Horrible!!

by Don S. on 2024-03-13SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

I have been going to concerts for over 50 years. I have seen hundreds of artists in numerous cities in numerous countries on multiple continents. This is the first time I have ever walked out of a performance. I found the show to be listless. Routine. Boring. The band was just going through the motions. No excitement at all. The audience was sitting on their hands and Journey did nothing to liven things up. The video effects were mundane. It basically became the Neal and Arnel show, with some other guys tagging along. Guitar solos were thrown in to supposedly spice up the hits. But I felt the guitar instrumental solo of O Canada was pandering to the audience. Maybe they thought this was one way to get everyone on their feet (out of patriotic respect). Anyways, I lasted 45 minutes into their set. This was probably about half way. I wanted to slog it out to the end, but couldn't make it. And I did something I have never done before.....walked out of a concert. A redcoat usher asked if I was leaving early. I confirmed and they asked why. I said because the show was horrible. They agreed. There were more than a handful of patrons making on the way to their vehicles when I exited. At least I was home in the comfort of my own living room within 30 minutes, watching a recording of the Oscars. And this would have been before Journey even left the stage. Also, I have never left a review before. I am sure I will get slammed by trolls. But this was my opinion. It was what I was asked for. If others had a great time and really enjoyed Journey, then I am very happy for you and will not argue your opinion of the show. Thank you for allowing me to share. And by the way, Toto was fantastic!!

    Rock Lives On!

by Queen on 2024-03-13SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Hard to imagine a career that spans 50 year in any category! I applaude them for that too. The younger add ons to the band brought new energy with the sound we love. Felt thrilled to be able to be in the audience. They touched all of our hearts deeply by starting off with O Canada! Was moved to tears. Absolutely everyone was standing in complete silence. What a deep show of respect. Thanks so much Journey

    Journey & Toto review

by Colin C. on 2024-03-13SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Great concert. Parking lot organizers did fantastic job of organizing the many vehicles. The amount of parking at this facility is second to none. No other place in Saskatoon can do such a great job. No other place!!! Not now, and not in the future!!! Security and Check in staff were very efficient. Concession staff were quick and friendly. Ushers were knowledgeable and helpful. Our seats were first row section 39. Visual and sound were perfect. Toto sounded great. Harmonized very well. So good to see them for the first time. Journey pulled out all the stops. Opening song pumped everyone up and to play the Canadian National Anthem was so patriotic of them with the Canadian flag waving on the big screen. Hit after Hit they played. This is my 3rd time seeing them with new lead singer. Him and the drummer and 2nd keyboardist hit those high notes just like Steve Perry did! You can tell the band loved playing their music. Spectacular show!!! Thank you, promoters, for bringing Journey and Toto to Saskatoon.
