    Disappointing

by squash on 2023-10-29The Avalon Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

$50 for parking is ridiculous for a less than 2 hour show. We will definitely think twice before seeing anything else at Fallsview. Ads did not say that the featured backup guitarist would be performing solo for 1/2 hour first. Justin Hayward's show was only about 75min. The female 'backups', one vocals/Keyboard and the other vocals/flute were overdone - they should have just been backup. (I do not recall Moody Blues having any female members.) Justin's voice is faltering, he had difficulty with some of the high notes. But when you're 77 and have recently had laryngitis that is not surprising. Perhaps time to call it quits? Overall it was nice to hear some of their songs although I did not appreciate the woman next to me singing along. I paid to hear Justin Hayward not her!!

Justin Hayward Ontario Tour: Danforth Music Hall May 2023

by 666.diablo on 2023-06-02The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Voice of The Moody Blues, Justin Hayward, delivered a wonderful setlist of mostly Moodies classics. He chose a brilliant fingerstyle guitar player Mike Dawes to open the show as well as play along in the headlining act. All these songs were given a refreshing new twist by being played unplugged while at the same time, mostly retaining their original haunting style – something one would expect from Moody Blues songs. Also great was how Justin told the stories behind some of the songs which gave them a sense of context. At age 76, its amazing that Justin’s vocals are still as strong and expressive as ever. Another nice thing about this gig was the volume was just right – you didn’t need earplugs. Unfortunately, there were a couple “Karens” near me (you know who you are) who got annoyed by me taking photos. One actually called me out and the other used her smartphone and shone her flashlight on me. Just for the record, not once did I use flash nor did I raise the camera above my head. I was also seated the whole time so I never blocked anybody’s view. All there was were a few soft clicks of the camera as I snapped photos – something easily drowned out anyways when Justin sang or when people clapped and cheered. My camera was also in line with the venue’s policy. I can’t get anymore discreet than that. Well, I just ignored them and continued taking photos after a few minutes. Interestingly, my best photos were actually taken after I had ignored them and resumed. For all the “Karens” out there (male or female) – PLEASE, GIVE IT A REST UNLESS IT IS A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE. Anyhow, back to Justin Hayward: Your singing was so expressive we could see The Story in Your Eyes. You really do have The Voice. It was definitely Lovely to See You again. Hope you’re back in Toronto soon.

    Justin Hayward

by R on 2023-05-31The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Justin Hayward gave a wonderful performance He sounded great and sang favourite moody blues songs There was an opening act which was never advertised The event stated start time was 6:30 but that was when doors opened and in fact it was close to 8:30 before we saw Justin Hayward. I felt that was a long wait. The times could have been more clearly stated Overall the venue and show was very good.

Great experience, first time seeing Justin. Brought back lots of memories from my youth, listening to Moody Blues albums late at night with my headphones on. Singing along to songs I have forgot that don’t get played on radio stations.

Justin Hayward - Songs to live by

by Tuesday Afternooner on 2023-05-31The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Enjoyed an excellent concert by Justin Hayword, at the Danforth Music Hall ,on May 28th. The venue was an intimate setting, and he played all our favorite songs, which still carry an important message for today. Messages such as "give just a little bit more, take a little bit less, from each other tonight". I grew up with the music from the Moody Blues, and can remember many late nights in my youth, listening on my headphones, while my family was fast asleep. He still has an excellent voice, and we look forward to seeing him again, if he chooses to grace us with his presence, here "across the pond" in Canada. Thank you Justin !

He's still got it!! Fantastic musician!

by cheerio on 2023-05-31The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Attending our first concert after the pandemic I didn't know what to expect but Justin Hayward, lead singer from the Moody Blues did not disappoint. After all these years the man's voice is still probably one of the best being angelic & beautiful. He is a class act stepping out always dressed to a tee and is a fine story teller. His precision for his vocals is spot on! The band members who he has to support him all are soo passionate to ensure their harmonies/playing is in tune with each other. Simply amazing! Fabulous choice of songs and I have to say the venue's acoustics were absolutely perfect for this show. You did not need to use ear plugs as the volume was perfect! Super evening and lovely to see you again my friend!

    Enjoyable intimate venue. Grat show

by Scotland on 2023-05-31The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

One negative was the time the doors opened was dispkayed on the ticket not the time the concert started. This resulted in many people showing up early and a veryblong lineup waiting to get into the theatre.

    Amazing Concert

by Phazers on 2023-05-31The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

His vocals are as beautiful as they ever were! His accompanying musicians were top notch. He played for the audience by performing many okd, favourite Moody Blues songs, along with a few of his new songs, which were excellent as well. I was in heaven during the whole concert and didn’t want it to end!

    Excellent Concert

by Beacher on 2023-05-31The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Justin Hayward was fantastic when he took the stage at 8:20 pm. He sang for 90 minutes and did a combination of his new stuff and Moody Blues. His voice is still as crisp as ever. Disappointed that ticket event said 6:30 implying concert started then. This led to almost a two hour wait for many of the patrons.

    Opportunity to see a legend

by Ericdawingnut on 2023-05-31The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Such a treat to see Justin and his band members (who were excellent/entertaining) at the iconic Danforth. Great music selection and arrangements; and I really enjoyed the chatting/back of his life experiences and stories behind many of the songs.

    Justin Hayward concert was amazing

by Podbay on 2014-11-04The Concert Hall - New York

The Justin Hayward acoustic concert at the Concert Hall in NYC was outstanding. The show opened up with Hayward's touring guitarist, Michael Dawes, delivering a blow-your-mind instrumental set that had the audience mesmerized. As a guitarist myself of some 48 years, I can tell you I was totally blown away. After a brief intermission, Justin came on stage with Michael and his backup vocalist, Julie Dagins, who also played the keyboard(s) and synths. He opened with Tuesday Afternoon, played many fan favorites during the show, and added at least four tunes from his new album, Spirits of the Western Sky. In between songs, he regaled the audience with many stories, some related to the songs, of course. He was the consummate performer and gentleman, and treated us, his adoring audience, with dignity and grace. Highly recommended!

Lovely to see you again, my friend

by grammarqueen on 2014-06-17River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

Alone or with the other Moodies, Justin Hayward is an enthralling musician. He proved this at his concert on Friday evening when it was only Justin, his acoustic guitar, a backup keyboardist/vocalist, and a young but very talented lead guitarist. Whether Justin was singing favourites from the Moodies collection or his new, solo introspective songs, he still proved that he can carry an audience with him. His voice retains its strong but ethereal quality and his lyrics make the listener think. As always, it was a night of magic.

    Justin Hayward

by Rider365 on 2014-06-16River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

Overall a really nice show. Hayward showed up about 20 minutes late, then played for about 90 minutes, minus a 10-minute break, when the audience got a chance to hear the awesome talents of his back-up guitarist, Mike Dawes. In total Hayward played for about 80 minutes. Hayward's vocal skills are still amazing. His guitar work was terrific as well. The audience even seemed to really like the few tracks he played from his most recent album, Spirits of the Western Sky. The album sold out in the lobby after the show. Hayward did reach out to the audience during the performance, with bits of info about his life both now and then, as well as some background to some of the music. The show was seriously scripted, with no deviations from what was obviously the plan. He could have actually showed a bit more spunk, perhaps even smiled a bit. At times it seemed as if he was just going through the motions. He seems to be an inordinately calm and mellow person.
