About

Korn in Concert

Since 1993, Korn has pushed boundaries, combining traditional heavy metal with elements of hip-hop, grunge, and alternative rock. They are considered pioneers of the Nu Metal genre, and the band's founders name the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Faith No More as their earliest influences. Korn's ignition of the Nu Metal spark inspired a long list of performers to create within the genre. Examples include Coal Chamber, Slipknot, and Limp Bizkit. Korn released their twelfth studio album, The Serenity of Suffering, on October 21, 2016. Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has said that the album is "heavier than anyone's heard us in a long time". Korn promoted this release during their 2017 tour, The Serenity of Summer. Other Korn tours include 2013's The Reunion Tour with Head, 2011's The Path of Totality Tour, the 2010 Ballroom Blitz Tour, the 2009 Escape from the Studio Tour, the 2007 Bitch We Have a Problem Tour, the 2005 See You on the Other Side World Tour, the 2002 Untouchables Tour, and the 2000 Sick and Twisted Tour. In addition, Korn's recurring Family Values Tour took the band across the United States in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2006, and 2007. In 2013, Korn resurrected the Family Values Tour as a one-day Family Values Music Festival. Listening to a recording is nothing like being at a Korn show, no matter how loud the stereo goes. Fans go to live performances again and again to feel the powerful music pulse through their bodies. They often comment on the consistent energy and passion in Korn live performances, and venues are typically packed. Expect to be on your feet the entire time, and keep an eye out for the mosh pit that always forms right in front of the stage. Shows are a mix of new and old, including long-time favorites such as Shoots and Ladders, No Place to Hide, Freak on a Leash, and Here to Stay. Korn has won numerous awards, including two Grammys and two MTV Video Music Awards.

Korn's founding members, James Shaffer, Reginald Arvizu, and David Silveria, started working together under the name L.A.P.D. They were based in Oakland, California. The group moved to Los Angeles, where they released two albums. After adding Brian Welch and Jonathan Davis, they renamed the band Korn and started recording at Underground Chicken Sound. By 1993, Korn played gigs fairly consistently, and they attracted the attention of Epic Records. This led to the release of their first demo album, Neidermayer's Mind, which was popular with fans who were excited about their unique sound.

  • KORN "old school"

by nuttinONtv on 2010-04-03Shaw Conference Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

loved the venue, and that's coming from three 40 year oles. Been wanting to see Korn for years now. Being that it was an old school tour made all the better. Jonathan's voice could of been much louder it seemed to get overpowered. I mean that's why I love him... Five Finger...DEATH PUNCH!! was absolutely amazing. No wonder they are quickly rising. The sound was so crisp and the lyrics easily heard. Ivan's interaction with the crowd won all of us over. What a group of professionals! I would easily drive another 6 hours to see these bands.

Impressed with Five Finger Death Punch. Jonathan Davis can still scream with the best of 'em. Not in2 Korn nearly as much as I was when I first saw them 10 years ago but they still were worth the price of admission. Cheers.

  • Korn is unbelievable

by LaToya on 2010-04-03BIG FOUR BUILDING - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Korn was amazing. I've been to a lot of concerts, especially metal, and this Korn concert is definitely in my top 3. Listening to Jonathan Davis' voice on the albums, one wouldn't think that the guy could sing like that live, but he can. He's even better live! And his ability to show his raw emotion through song is mesmerizing. Great great concert. Come back soon please! Sooner than 10 years from now!

  • impressed by death punch

by Bender on 2010-04-03Shaw Conference Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

all around a very good show. the high point for me was definatly five finger death punch, those guys can tear it up. Ivan Moody has amazing stage presence and gets the crowd involved really well. even 2 cents were pretty impressive as well, i liked the Pantera cover that was something i have never seen anyone do before. Korn was also very good, they played all the songs i wanted to hear plus more. lighting was amazing and the drummer was an unbelievable show to watch. im not sure if i would see korn again but i will be seeing finger everytime they come through town! the absolutly blew me away!!

  • five finger rocked korn off the wall

by ottoman on 2010-04-02Shaw Conference Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic show great venue. 2 cent was a ruckus openner and in my opinion five finger stole the show yet korn was off the wall. The shaw has to do somthing about making people line up outside for so long good thing it was warm.

Five finger death punch is probably one of the best sounding live bands I've ever heard. They rocked the place with their narly music. Music control was well balanced for them and sounded just great.

  • Five Finger Death Punch stole the show

by Tcrash on 2010-04-02Shaw Conference Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Really good show. My only qualm is that I am too short to watch a concert at the Shaw. Wish it had been at a different venue. Five Finger Death Punch was phenomenal. They are better live then I ever imagined. Two Cents was pretty cool. They threw me off when the lead singer happened to also be the drummer! Haven't seen that since the '80s. But it was watchable because they eventually switched in a replacement drummer. Korn of course was awesome. They pulled off an awesome show. The coolest part was they drummer's kit. Very cool.

  • 5fdp and korn were wicked!

The only thing that I didn't like was carrying my coat and the t-shirt and hoodie I bought all night. Although, the show was great.

The croud was gathered, energy was flowing and the Music was off the charts. Would have liked it if there was seating better, but I'll take what I can get.

yes they are... a great bunch of guys...gifted musicians...and soooooo nice. i won a meet and greet, they are great guys, all of them. the show was wicked, sounded great, and blew me away. it was worth the 3 and a half year wait, and the new song was heavy, and hard. they were tight, and it rocked... late june release. according to ray, cant wait.

  • Korn Kicked MORE ASS Than Megadeth!

by Sashiose on 2010-04-01BIG FOUR BUILDING - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Though I had no idea who the opening bands were (and wasn't overly impressed with them) the moment Korn started up it was pure adrenaline! I danced, I screamed, I toked, my neck is sore from headbanging ... WHICKED SHOW!!!

  • korn rocked Queen E
