What a fantastic concert! Thankfully doctors re-tested him for Lymes disease and could help him heal! He's got excellent music!
Kris, his guitar and harmonica. Well worth the trip from AB and would do it again in a heartbeat!
I was a little apprehensive in the beginning...after all, Kris is no spring chicken! I soon realized I had nothing to worry about. Kris played all of his hits, interacted with his audience and even had a surprise guest join him for Me and Bobby McGee...Gordon Lightfoot! It was an awesome concert from start to finish. I highly recommend it!
A true showman. He stayed for 1/2 hour -at least- bending down shaking hands and signing autographs for those who were at the stage. He is everything I have ever read about him. Beautiful soul
This Kris Kristofferson concert can now be crossed off my bucket list. He played by himself. Standing at the footlights with his guitar and his harmonica's. It was simple and intimate. He delivered a very humble, soulful and heartwarming concert. His performance was very in the moment and touches on current events and painted a realistic picture of mortality and many issues his generation are facing today. I would love to see him again.
I have been a fan of Kris since my Mom bought his "Silver Tongued Devil" LP in the early 70s. Kris with just his guitar and the occasional harmonica played all his great songs and I sang along the entire time. Wonderful moment when he brought out Orillia hometown hero and legend Gordon Lightfoot to duet on Me and Bobbie McGee.
it makes sense to have lowered expectations and to keep your fingers crossed, when an 80-year-old takes the stage for a one-man concert. there are plenty of things that can go wrong. happily, there was no hoping for the best while fearing the worst as kristofferson met and surpassed expectations in a 90-minute a fast-moving setlist of his awesome career and staggering array of hits. there was a terrific vibe in the hall, an appreciative and loving audience and he reciprocated with good humour and making sure that no Kristofferson classic was left unsung. his voice was steady, his playing was even and he didn't sweat it if he missed a note and nobody else cared either. he didn't pause for even a minute during the songs, never stopped for a sip of water, occasionally wringing his hands a bit, as perhaps arthritis was making him stiff while playing the guitar. there was a bonus legend moment when he called up Gord Lightfoot, who gave a hand on Me And Bobby McGee and he was also greeted by a warm ovation in his home province - two legends who penned an awful lot of the great songs of the 60s and 70s on the same stage and both clearly enjoying the outpouring of affection. Kris's piss-and-vinegar attitude, which has been part of his charm and part of his many troubles, remains clear and it was great to see that age hasn't eroded that moxie. if you live in a city or town that is lucky enough to be hosting him this year, grab a ticket. grab an LP and get yourself in the mood and enjoy. The 2017 version of kristofferson isn't the same as the 1972 version of Kristofferson but its still a version well worth the price of admission and better than most can do at half his age.
A simple show with a great storyteller! Kris made the show not only about music, it was about his life experiences too, funny comments during the show brought laughter and good cheer. We had a surprise visit from Gordon Lightfoot, which was pretty awesome as my parents and I listened to him too back in my childhood days! What we found amazing... at his age his ability to stand up there for a solid 90 minutes without a break or a drink of water. Wow, I couldn't do that!
Absolutely breath taking. You'll never see a performance like this from any of the new artists!
