kris is the man great concert what a down to earth guy
WOW!!!!! This is the first time that I have seen him alone, what an amazing show. He held me captive and probably everybody else there. There was no distraction from band etc etc. I thought I enjoyed his concerts before but not to this extent, There is no doubt that the man has more talent for writing words and singing them to make you listen. I only wish that I could be face to face with him and tell him the impact that he has had with me listening to him, and given that chance he would most likely turn it into a song. Seems to be his style. That's why he is so loved. Yes he has aged and to anybody that went thinking he was still going to young I guess they were disappointed. His voice wasn't as strong as it was when he was younger but that doesn't matter. His words are profound and from the heart. But he was also funny which he never seem to be before so in that respect he has blossomed even more Would I go again.....you bet...in a heartbeat
Put it this way i fell a sleep three times through out the concert!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Kris, but I was not impressed with the show at Rama on August 20. His singing seemed off on most songs. He blew or wiped his nose after almost every song and I'm wondering if he was sick and should have cancelled the show. We arrived 10 minutes late due to traffic accidents on the way and we weren't allowed to go to our seats while he was singing; you are only allowed to go to your seat between songs. (unheard of!) We had to stay in the hallway until he finished a song, therefore, we missed "Me and Bobby McGee". I was NOT impressed!!!
We have wanted to see Kris for many, many, many years and absolutely loved his concert at Rama. He is one VERY talented songwriter/singer. Kris was FANTASTIC!!! He stood the entire time and just sang one hit after another without breaks. Over an hour and a half of solid talent. WOW
I remember seeing Kris with my mother when I was 14 years old.Now 30 years later I returned to see him for my birthday. I have always been a huge fan.Though he is a man of few words the stories in his lyrics say it all.I feel honoured that I got to see him.
The best songwriter in history still has it at 74 years old. With just him and his harmonica and guitar, he charmed the crowd, sang all the old favourites plus a few new songs. Where did the 1.5 hours go - I could have sat their all night and listened to his storytelling songs and gravelly lovely voice. He is still the BEST!!! The crowd at the end were all singing to "Why Me Lord" and it gave you goosebumps. He then graciously signed autographs, shook hands, and finally had to be pulled off the stage by the organizers. His fans did not want him to go.
had the chance to see another legend .although it was a solo show .i think he is oneof country music's best songwriters .to see him live was a great honor fo rme
Great show, the guy is a living legend. Kris may be getting up there in years but the guy still has it. Excellent show.
Really enjoyed show. Even though Kris is "getting up there" and missed a couple of notes it is forgiveable. Gracious and charismatic guy.
I first saw Kris live about 35 to 40 years ago and it was an amazing concert. I'm sad to say that I was disappointed this time. As far as the venue goes, Casino Rama has extremely uncomfortable seats and really should do something about it. They do have large screens on both sides of the stage and I enjoyed being able to see Kris up close. The acoustics are excellent as well. The crowd was much livelier in the seventies, standing and clapping, singing along, and really getting in to the concert. I don't know if that was because the mean age of the spectators was younger, or if Ottawa fans are different, or whether it was the singing. Personally, I would have loved to be up swaying and singing along. As far as the singing went, I would have enjoyed listening to his CDs at home a lot more. There was very little difference in the tempo of his songs. It seemed that he just couldn't get up to speed on the livelier ones and the beat was far more repetitious from one song to the next, than what it is on his CDs. He did interact with the audience, responding to comments, and adding comments here and there as he sang. His comments drew laughter on several occasions (as they were meant to). He hasn't lost his ability to perform on stage. Am I sorry I went? No, not really! When he sang, "Lay your head upon my pillow......" I must admit that I thought, "Oh yes!", and me a faithfully married woman! I won't buy concert tickets to see him again if I have the opportunity. I prefer to remember him as he was. At the same time, it was kind of nice to see him "one more time".
The greatest song Chris wrote why me lord! He never sang it. We pleaded at the end, he heard us, he ignored us.
After seeing Kris at the same venue last year (2 years ago?) where his voice was weak and tired I went to last night's show with little hope.. but I went because its Kris. Wow. I don't know if he drank a Red Bull before the show or not, but his voice was strong and clear throughout the entire evening.. a vary intimate performance despite the cavernous surroundings of the Rama Theatre (a venue I dislike). He played for pretty much an hour and a half (with a brief exit before the encore) pretty much non-stop.. when one song was done he'd move onto the next (with always a "thank you" in between)... would've liked to hear a bit more banter between songs.. but I went for the music and that's what I got. Glad to see that he is still going strong and I hope he comes back again soon (maybe somewhere in Toronto next time!!). Just a really great show.
I think the performer needs to vary the rythms and/or share the venue with a more upbeat performer. I'm a fan and will continue to be a fan. I felt sorry for Chris C. I think the audience was kind to him.
He was amazing! I had waited 30 years to be able to see him in person. We are the same age and I admired his stamina and showmanship. The people in the audience were something else................rude, inconsiderate and without any concert going manners at all. It was NOT a rock concert - just one lone man singing his tunes for you and he should have been respected.
to hear the men himself ! thank you ! for this really
My wife and I went to see Kristofferson at Rama last night. I figured that, with his style of singing and his rough edged voice, that his gravelled voice might have lost it's edge at his age, but I wanted to be able to say I had seen the Legend live. I was pleasantly surprised that his voice was incredibley up to the task. He sang for an hour and a half and presented the audience with a quiet charm and great presentation of many great and famous hits as well as a few I had never heard. He responded to comments from the audience and his performance was entertaining and memorable, one I will be glad to say I was at. At the end of the performance he did a three number encore and then, before leaving the stage, shook hands with many and signed various items such as albums and pictures for quite a few people at the edge of the stage.
I enjoyed every minute of the performance! Mr Kristofferson is a true entertainer with a message and very real.
We had a wonderful time, very entertaining show, Kris is so talented, he sang non stop with a few bits of talking here and there. He is 74 years old and he still can hold his own in a large room without the help of any backup musicians or singers. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
