About

At first listen it’s familiar - like a well broken-in pair of vintage boots – but Lake Street Dive’s perfectly balanced blend of rollicking soul, Motown pop, and knockabout R&B, anchored by flawless harmonies and Rachael Price’s smoky voice, has a freshness to it that’s hard to pin down. The Brooklyn-based, classically-trained foursome have been together for over a decade. But after a sultry Jackson 5 cover went viral, a show-stealing appearance alongside Jack White and Patti Smith at a 2014 Inside Llewyn Davis tribute show in New York City, and a new album of originals recorded while listening to a lot of Bowie and The Zombies, they’ve well and truly picked up the tempo.

    Never fails to disappoint

by Jess robs on 2022-10-14Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

They never fail to disappoint live! Such talent and so enjoyable. Only downside being they didn’t play much from their other albums! I find many artists play only from the new album when many people want to listen to the old stuff!

    Lake Street Bliss

by Lynchmeaux on 2019-10-20The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

What a wonderful show from a band with the lead singer sitting for the majority of the show with a cast on her left foot. The sound mix was perfect...for a middle aged guy with not the best hearing i understood every lyric sung. I enjoyed the reaction of the audience around me, and I'm sure the band did as well. This was another of those occasions where the crowd is singing along on virtually every song. I loved the covers they chose and the way they presented them. Hey i go for the music but a great lighting set up didn't go unnoticed. mmeadows was a decent opening act but what i really appreciated was them coming out into the crowd for their last song and the respect and cooperation they got from the crowd. Overall a great show by an extremely talented band that knows how to perform and a great audience that totally supported and appreciated the show!! Well done. PS Massey Hall crowds could take a lesson from this venue and these concert goers.

Best live band I've ever seen... and I've seen a lot! Band was tight and Rachael Price was pitch perfect and entertaining... even on a broken foot!

Band was Great Lets see, over miked too loud, muddled sound, slightly better down stairs its like a out of phase speaker. I was really looking forward to the concert and totally disappointed. The harmonies were lost for the most part, the total essence of the band was lost the semi acoustic feeling of the band lost, way too loud. I felt like I was sitting in front of the drum kit in the balcony. Hopefully when they come back they are in a better venue and their sound engineers figure out the true sound of the band and bring back Rachels soulful sound and not have her screaming.

    Lake Street Dive is Stunning

by Rreubart on 2017-03-20Moore Theatre - Seattle

Our first time seeing Lake Street Dive perform was beyond memorable; it was unparalleled. Each member of the band is so very talented, yet it's the passionate, energetic and seamless collaboration among the members that make LSD such an amazing experience. I have never heard a singer quite like Rachael, ever. Mike's guitar and trumpet work is astounding, and Drummer Mike has no rival. Then there's Bridget. I'm a bassist and this woman is an absolute marvel, if not a deity. Couple the stunning musicianship, flawless arrangements and charming (I mean this with the utmost affection) stage presence with the brilliant harmonies and clever, innovative phrasing and, well, it was quite an evening. I must mention the sound and lighting crew, whose work was without flaw and enhanced an already-perfect show. We have a new favorite band! Rick R - no bass, no groove

    I love this band!

    by Popsi38 on 2017-03-18Moore Theatre - Seattle

Lake Street Dive always puts on a great show. Every member of the band is so talented and they come together to make a beautiful noise (I mean that in a good way). The energy, the performance and the crowd was all fantastic. We travelled from Vancouver to Seattle to see them, and I'd try to see them live again at any opportunity I could get.

Lake Street Dive was why I drove 550 miles

by HalifaxFan on 2016-03-29State Theatre - Portland

There are few vocalists as pure and sultry as Rachael. Gladys Knight and Linda Ronstadt and Whitney perhaps. We have been captivated since discovering the group on Netflix and Youtube. And each of the four has their unique talents. I bought the vinyl of Sidepony going in to the concert and just enjoyed dinner over it. I confess, the production quality of the LP compelled me to crank the treble and almost turn off the bass. But this smoothed it out.

electric stage prescence with amazing vocals

by blackhat44 on 2016-03-18The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Both acts were far more than I expected. LSD was incredibly tight and focused, with amazing harmony and arrangements. A very eclectic sound that defies category, but satisfies on every level. I was spellbound with every song. First class musicians who really stretch themselves flawlessly.

Not nearly as good as the Horseshoe show

by Gauntlet401 on 2014-09-02The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Not sure if it was the venue or what, but this show was no where near as good as the last one. This band has so much talent, but seems to struggle a bit with stage presence. On a small stage, I guess that goes unnoticed. Rachel was her usual flawless self, but someone needs to hire her a stylist in a big way! A green skirt and purple unitard??? It was like watching a spinach and grape Popsicle dance around. Blech! Bridget was bang on, fabulous! Tons of energy, looking like she was really having a good time. Bringing Mike, the drummer, up front was a nice touch, because he really does add to the show. And then there was Olson... good God man! Try not to look like you're HATING it up there. IMHO, Olson should leave that Telecaster alone. The tone he gets out of it is gratingly tinny. But what he does with that horn is pure magic! Now if he only wanted to be there...

So glad I made the trip from Toronto to see them at the Westcott Theater. They were fantastic live. Loved that the crowd was a good cross section of all ages. Magic night!
