Las Vegas Raiders History

The Las Vegas Raiders began play in the American Football League in Oakland in 1960. In 1963, they hired head coach and general manager Al Davis, who engineered the greatest one-year turnaround in pro football history, leading the Raiders to a 10-4 record after they posted a 1-13 mark the year before.

From 1967 to 1977 the Raiders appeared in three consecutive AFL title games and six AFC championship games. They won their first national championship title at Super Bowl XI in 1977, beating Minnesota 32-14. In 1980, they became the first Wild Card playoff team to win a Super Bowl, beating Philadelphia 27-10 in Super Bowl XV.

The Raiders moved to Los Angeles in 1982 and the following year won their third national championship title, defeating Washington 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII. After returning to Oakland in 1995, the Raiders won three straight AFC West titles from 2000 to 2002 and earned a berth in Super Bowl XXXVII. As the only franchise to play in the Super Bowl in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, the Raiders are known as the “Team of the Decades.” The Raiders relocated to Las Vegas in 2020 and made a playoff appearance in 2021.

The Raiders have 30 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including owner Al Davis.

    Unimpressed

by Maize and Blue on 2019-08-26IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

Over priced tickets to watch third and fourth stringers was a huge disappointment. Add to that a promoter who couldn’t get the field ready for play. The NFL and promoter made the city of Winnipeg look bad.

    Very Boring

by Football Fan on 2019-08-26IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

It was the most boring football game I have ever seen, and there was no other form of entertainment when the game paused for commercials. Very poorly planned. We are done with NFL Football games.

    A Big Disappointment

by Wyatt on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

It would have been great except for the unexpected change in the field size. Also disappointed that none of the “A” players participated in the game. It was just a practice at best. The cost of the ticket was extremely high for the quality of players that played in the game.

Fun, but the poor planning was obvious

by R. R. on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

I had fun, glad I went, but it was a total mess. No pre game tail gaiting. Field was screwed up. Tickets were over priced. But I had fun.

Not Ticketmaster's fault but the game was a joke for the price

    Disappointed

by Green Bay Fan on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

We purchased tickets for $425.00/seat. Flew to Winnipeg to see our Packers play live. It was to be a thrill of a lifetime, celebrating our Anniversary and watching the team I had cheered for, for 40 some years. What a bad joke to had the end zone changed, the announcer could not even catch up with that change. The game was not exciting to watch, so disappointed for the expense to see the live game!!!

    Rip-off

by Ken k on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

This was a massive disappointment. From the shortened field, to no kickoffs and to no starters playing, the price charged for this bush league event was outrageous.

    Expensive tickets and low quality

by R. D. on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

Not impressed with how expensive tickets were and that discounts were offered after I bought. No starting quarterbacks and quality of game was lacklustre.

    Uneventful

by Rome on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

Just not an nfl experience. Field was short because of a groundskeeper error. Tickets were overpriced!!

Very disappointed with the execution of this game.

by J. H. on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

Very disappointed with the execution of this game. Would have been nice if they would played on the CFL field rather than shorten the field to 80 yards and elongated kick-offs. I am a fan that loves kick off returns. Come on think outside the box. The fans would have enjoyed a more exciting game. And the teams did not played any of their top players. Fans were misled thinking that Rodgers and Carr would play part of the game. Overall the game started slow but had an exciting finish with Oakland kicking a field goal to win the game.

    Little disappointing

by Mjs on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

Tickets were very overpriced for not seeing any starters playing. No kick returns, and much smaller field. Overall felt that for a NFL game should have been more

    Ok ish

by Ransom1198 on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

I enjoyed seeing the packers and raiders as it was our 13th anniversary so I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else with anybody else! It was to bad the field was a little off and that the tailgate area wasn’t open but I enjoyed it food is good as ever game was mediocre at best not all the starters were in got to see Crosby kick a field goal! Not the best but also not the worst maybe we can try for a regular season game the next time around if there is a next time I am in for going it was very cool to see NFL in my hometown. Whoever thought it up is a genius!!

I was very disappointed with the experience. The field was shortened and I found that quite strange. The whole event at IG Field seemed very disorganized. I spent a lot of money on this experience and I was not happy with the event.

    Nfl

by Stu on 2019-08-25IG Field (Formerly Known as Investors Group Field) - Winnipeg

It was fun in the fact I was with family members. But it was way overpriced and the fact that we only saw 2nd and 3rd string players was a huge disappointment! NFL dropped the ball on this one!
