About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

Great Show! A little on the long side but not too bad. Took my wife and she loved it.

The props, lights, costumes and overall production are awesome. I was having goosebumps the whole time. Will definitely recommend this to friends and relatives.

  • Great Show, Very Entertaining

We were very entertained by this high energy and colourful show. The voices, costumes and set were excellent and typical for a Broadway show. A bit long for (3 hours including intermission), but well worth the time.

  • Les Mis

I've seen it before with a better cast. couldn't they find anyone better to play Jean Valjean? this guy was a disappointment. Fantine was also terribly weak and disappointing. the best cast was Eponine. my advice overall with this cast? save your money and rent the movie.

  • One of the greatest musicals of all time

    by Larry1206wa on 2013-07-31Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

The touring performance was all it could be. Even though there were a couple of understudies performing some of the lead roles, the cast was excellent. Javert was incredible, and so was Jean val Jean. The sets were well done. The two most memorable scenes were the storming of the bastions, but the way they did the flight through the tunnels was magic. Overall it would be well worth it at twice the price.

  • Les Mis was absolutely wonderful!

by janccd on 2013-07-31Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

I purchased two tickets to see Les Mis at the concert hall for our wedding anniversary. We had seen Les Miserables recently at the movies as well, with Anne Hathaway playing Fantine and Hugh Jackman playing Val Jean and Russell Crowe playing Javier. We really enjoyed that movie and we were amazed as we didn't know they all had singing voices. Seeing it live on stage though, with a live orchestra, with such a wonderful and professional cast was so fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing it on Sunday at the Centennial Concert Hall! We would see it there again!!!

  • Les Mis was unbelievable !!!!

by Artea on 2013-07-31Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

This was the 5th time in the last 25 years that my wife and I have seen this production. (4 times live stage (Toronto, Winnipeg & Kelowna) and once via movie) All of them were wonderful but this last production was absolutely amazing. We were totally exhausted after seeing it and for a good reason--we were overwhelmed by the singing, orchestra, stage props, acting and story. We can honestly say that we would go back and see it in a heartbeat.

  • Les Miserables

by Gemcitygemini on 2013-07-31Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

I have now seen Les Miserables twice at the Centennial Concert Hall. If possible, I would have gone to every performance while it was in Winnipeg. There are not enough words to review this play. I again await the next time it returns to Winnipeg, although, I would have to attend and sit in a wheelchair. It would be well worth it.

  • Anything but Miserable!

I have been wanting to go see Les Mis since I was in high school, and finally had the opportunity to go. The production was phenomenal! I knew the music would be incredible, and there was no disappointment there. I had no doubt the acting would be equally good, and it was. I expected a full range of emotional experiences, and the crew delivered. The stage show and special effects were beyond anything I had hoped, however! I expect smooth scene changes, but even this expectation was exceeded. The way lighting was used to change the background was extremely effective. Nothing was distracting. All in all a fantastic performance. Bravo!

  • Les Miserable Fabulous Show!!

Some of the words were difficult to understand when being sung.

  • The voices in Les Mis were incredible

by docgoddess on 2013-07-31Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Some of the plot points were confusing: Valjean wasn't seen lifting anything heavy in the beginning, so the scene with him lifting the cart in front of Javert was confusing; Fantine singing "I dreamed a dream" before she lost everything was a bit puzzling. But wow, the voices were incredible and those kids were quite spectacular.

The last time I saw Les Mis was twenty years ago. This version was even better. The singing was amazing. I laughed and I cried. It was so great I would see it again in a heartbeat.

  • Dissapointing

    by Mike1543 on 2013-07-31Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 3 out of 5

This was my third time around in the past 20 years or so. We have attended each time they pass through( every 10 yrs or so). The production was by far the best we've seen. Although we were very disappointed in the voices of the leading g cast members. If it was my first time hearing the production then I would nothing to compare too. But they didn't hold a candle to past cast members in those rolls. For example when Eponine sang her main solo I was hoping that she could salvage the night but was let down again.

  • Les Mis ... OUTSTANDING!!!

by carrieme on 2013-07-31Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Moving, uplifting, artistic .... adjectives that are descriptive, but to actually experience Les Mis is unforgettable. The range of emotions portrayed, from the victimized to the redeemed, is truly remarkable. A superlative production, with performances of the highest calibre! Would recommend this show to everyone!!!

  • Les Mis was Rushed

    by Lesmisfan100 on 2013-07-31Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

The singers and actors in Les Mis were second to none in terms of vocal ability. But, I felt like they were rushing through the production. It was almost like they had to catch a plane and wanted to get through the show and get off the stage because they had somewhere else they had to be. The first act of the show especially was like a giant megamix. Song after song with hardly a break between. The show lost some of the emotion, for me, as a result. There was no angst from Jean Val Jean, or conflict from Marius, or longing from Eponine. It was all missed because of the pacing and tempo of the show. The show clocked in under three hours. I have seen Les Miserables many times and the shows always went about three and a half hours. Cutting it down by half an hour meant that some songs were sacrificed totally and some songs had verses eliminated. This production was not as powerfully emotional as it had been in previous productions. I still enjoyed it because of the music but it did leave me wanting more of the original story. This almost felt like there was no story just songs. I don't know if the movie version contributed to the new stage adaptation or if the movie was based on the new adaption. But, either way, both versions left me cold.
