About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

  • Spectacular - A must see

by Andrea on 2024-08-09National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Les Misérables many years ago. I frequently listen to the music on Spotify. This is the best version I have ever heard. Fantine and Eponine are particularly noteworthy. I started to cry during On My Own - it was that emotional. The orchestra was also phenomenal!

  • Les Mis echo’s

by Seshyboss on 2018-07-31Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

The sound was off and it sounded like an echo. Also the bass and drums were quiet... not enough emphasis to the deep notes. The second half sounded better... maybe they Found the issue and fixed it.

I have seen Les Mis several times and it is without a doubt one of the best musicals ever. I found that the stage was very dark but of course that goes with the story - maybe it's just because I am getting old. Also I wasn't able to make out all the words of some of the songs but others were as clear as could be - I do find that though at musicals at the Southern Jubilee Auditorium - the sound is sometimes challenging for me - again - maybe my age! :-) It is a very powerful and moving production and overall I did enjoy it.

Awesome production, but the orchestra was to loud, it over took the singing from the actors. You could not here what they were saying!

Was so excited to finally be able to see Les Mis but was so disappointed, left at the intermission. The sound quality was so poor and I have been to several other Broadway shows at the Jubilee. It was impossible to understand the singing as it sounded muffled and like yelling all over each other.

  • Les Mis experience of grace and redemption!

by Country69 on 2018-07-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

We have seen this story several times and are always ready to see it again. It is a powerful story of grace and redemption which shows the nature of man and the power of the grace of God in the life of a man who had committed his life to Him. It also was a powerful picture of what conditions were like in France at the time of the Revolution that sparked this event. The sad parts were the deaths of so many idealistic students and the prejudice of the workers against a woman who had been deserted by the father of her child. The actors and actresses did an amazing job of playing their parts, the music was very good, the orchestra adds so much to such a production. All in all, an A+ production.

  • Les Mis left me unfullfilled

by Tesha on 2018-07-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

The singing was not as great as I would expect from a travelling Broadway show. Very poor annunciation of words from the singers. Also, not a lot of personality in some of the actors. I was disappointed.

  • Sound system a bit off

by ebry on 2018-07-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

Don't get me wrong, this is a great musical, however the sound system or maybe the acoustics of the auditorium was not right. This is the second time we attended this musical, so we were familiar with the story, but for first timers probably the songs were not as clear. Actually we were a bit disappointed.
