Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).
Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.
We were mesmerized the whole time. Such an amazing production.
Absolutely one of - if not the most amazing show ever -- thank you to this wonderful cast of talented performers - we enjoyed every moment --
Epic production and great cast made this a great night. Wish we'd been closer to see more of the actors facial expressions and emotions, however might have been difficult to see though the tears! Thoroughly recommended
Fantastic show. Beautiful and moving story about redemption and forgiveness. Talented performers and seamless transition between scenes. Highly recommend!
The voices of all cast were amazing ! Brought me to tears !
Such a fun night out - great musical and the singer performances were amazing!!
An amazing experience. So well done and performed.
The actors that they chose is perfect, you really get emersed in the story, the singing really adds to the emotion of their lives.
This musical has never disappointed me. I have seen it four times at the QE and every time I am brought to tears, laughter and suspense and I leave with a heart filled with love for everyone in the performance. The cast, the props, the orchestra are all incredible. It is a storey of betrayal, suffering, love, war, defeat, sacrifice and faith that keeps you entertained throughout the entire performance. Thank you QE for bringing this back.
I enjoyed the whole thing. It was brilliantly done.
This was the 10th time for me to see Les Mis. I've seen it from Salt Lake City to Portland to Seattle and Vancouver. I can honestly say that this Saturday Matinee performance in Vancouver was the best yet.. Cast - including understudies - were amazing. Usually I've found that at least 1 cast member is somewhat lacking but, not this performance!!!! Amazing talent and voices...so memorable...and the orchestra was outstanding as well. Long life to Les Mis!!! BRAVO touring cast and crew.
Without a doubt, my all-time favourite musical! I have seen Les Mis 4 times, and this performance did not disappoint. The cast, the sets and the performance were spectacular. I have never seen a better Fantine.
Outstanding performance. Best I’ve seen in Vancouver.
We bought tickets for the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Vancouver and sat LC row 21. We found it almost impossible to make out the words to the songs. This was not normal since I had already seen the show twice and could hear it perfectly. I wondered if it was where the seats were located. The experience was definitely frustrating. The performance was good, the set design was excellent, as were the costumes. I thought two of the characters could have been stronger.. Javert and Enrolas.
We found this production more moving than the show we saw in London. My wife who has seen the musical 4 times now said it’s the best she’s ever seen. The cast is uniformly strong. A number of players stood out; Jean Valjean actor has great range Javert portrayal is very powerful Innkeeper and his wife very funny The kids playing Gavroche and others were excellent
The music was amazing...the sets made you feel like you were really there! The actors and actressess did an amazing job.
Overall a great production. I’ve seen Les Mis 7 times over the last few decades and there were some fabulous parts to this rendition, but there were also some misses. Jean (Nick) was very difficult to understand and it was noted by many members of the audience during the intermission. Common statements were heard all around, he was mumbling and not enunciating at all. His vocal talents were beautiful, don’t get me wrong, he just needs to slow it down and speak clearly. Javert was much the same, very difficult to understand for most of his segments. Thankfully I know the show and the words to basically all of it but for so many first timers it was very frustrating. Marius was absolutely brilliant and stoke the show with his genuine take on the role. All the female roles were cast beautiful as well, someone did their homework there for sure! The opening 3 scenes seemed. Dry rushed, and being the foundation for the story building it was odd that is was sped up like that.
Really enjoyed the performance - felt at times that the orchestra was too loud - could not hear the words that were being sung. Otherwise awesome.
If it wasn't for the man who played Jean Valjean (Nick Cartell) the show wouldn't have been as good. In general the singers were very good except for the one who played Eponine. I just couldn't take her attack on the pieces and her phrasing.. it just sounded like she was yelling! way too much attack and I had to squint every time she did that. Enjorlas shouldn't have a "Favio" hair cut either. The set design was excellent! Other than that it was good, but not the best.
I’ve seen this production 6 times in the past 30 years and this was one of the best performances: the sets are great, the singing was outstanding, and the show flowed seamlessly in between acts.
