About

Two-time Grammy award winning comedian/actor/writer Lewis Black uses his trademark style of comedic yelling and finger pointing to expose the absurdities of life. His comedic brilliance makes people laugh at life's hypocrisies and the insanity he sees in the world. He has performed throughout the world and the US, where he performed at Carnegie Hall and had two successful Broadway runs.

His latest stand-up special, Tragically, I Need You, released earlier this year and has already surpassed 1.3 million views on YouTube. The brand-new special explores topics including his ways of coping with the pandemic, his frustrations with the evolving world, and of course his thoughts about the chaos of America these last few years.

Adding a unique element to podcasting, Black delivers audience-written Rants which have been submitted from fans around the world on his podcast, Rant Cast.

Black is the longest-running contributor on Comedy Central's THE DAILY SHOW and his stand-up specials have appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime, and Epix.

In 2020, he released Thanks for Risking Your Life. In 2015, Black notably voiced the character "Anger" in the Pixar Academy Award-winning film, Inside Out. His other notable films include Universal's Accepted co-starring Jonah Hill, Blake Lively and Justin Long, and also Man Of The Year opposite Robin Williams, Christopher Walken, Laura Linney, and Jeff Goldblum.

The comedian has released eight critically acclaimed comedy albums including the 2007 Grammy Award-Winner, The Carnegie Hall Performance. He won his second Grammy in 2011 for his album, Stark Raving Black, and has a total of 6 Grammys nominations. He has published three bestsellers: Nothing's Sacred (Simon & Schuster, 2005), Me of Little Faith (Riverhead Books, 2008) and I'm Dreaming of a Black Christmas (Riverhead Books, 2010).

A published playwright, he's written over 40 plays and has found his work performed throughout the country, including at the A.C.T. Theatre, the Magic Theatre, The Williamstown Theatre Festival, and The Public Theatre.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Lewis is dedicated to a number of charitable organizations including the Luv U Project, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and The 52nd Street Project.

He's also deeply committed to supporting our troops. A seasoned USO tour veteran, he's performed for the troops on three Christmas tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Lewis is currently on his 2023 Off The Rails Tour. For dates and more info go-to: www.Lewisblack.com.

I was in Niagra for a quick gateway and stumbled upon the show. I've watched Mr. Black for a very long time on the Daily Show and he's one of my fave comedians. His comedy is hilarious, especially to political junkies like myself. The theatre was beautiful and I enjoyed every minute of it!

  • Louis Reigns!

Loved the entire show! Gotta love his kvetching! No one does it like he does. Louis is a genius!

  • Absolutely Hilarious

I have to tell you, I was worried that my wife wasn’t going to be impressed with his comedic style, she was also bit apprehensive and not sure if she was going to enjoy at all either…low and behold, she laughed the whole time and told all our friends that asked how the show was, how much she enjoyed it!! Score one for me buying them…score the biggest one for Lewis Black not letting me down! Would totally see him again.

  • Fantastic show

Fantastic show, well done and Lewis has a one of a kind stage presence. Smart humour that went deep and also lots of little fun asides. We will definitely be looking to see him again soon!

I have always liked Lewis Black's comedy. I didn't know what to expect when seeing him live on stage. He did not disappoint. He was very funny and at the same time grateful to be back on stage with a live audience. He is a treasure.

Nothing more to say. Possibly my most favorite comedian.

I love lewis black. This was my fourth time seeing him. Being that we have all been locked up for a couple of years, the material wasn't his greatest but still a good time and great laugh. Avolon theatre has crazy small seats with no armrests so you better like your neighbour :-)

  • Lewis has done better

Maybe I just am reliving those shows you can see on YouTube, but I felt Lewis was not at his best. I smiled here and there, but it actually didn’t make me “burst out laughing”. I will continue to follow him, but this show was “meh”… but glad I got to see him out and about.

  • Lewis Black has Honed the Rant to a Fine Edge

by David C on 2022-07-25The Avalon Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara FallsRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve wanted to see him for years and just never been in the same city at the right time. Black did not disappoint. His special take on humour and society is a treat to watch. Laughs are deep and sustained. He connects in surprising ways with his audience. After a long pandemic break from performance he remarked that “what I missed is my connection with you”. This admission came with a moment of emotional pause that if one was not watching carefully you might not have noticed. He loves his audience. I thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in his acerbic perspective. Keep it up Lewis!

  • Definitely seeing these two again!!!!

We've seen Lewis before but not Kathleen. Got to know her comedy through 820AM. Both comedians were incredibly funny. I truly hope they tour again soon.

  • Lewis at his ranting best!!!

by LaughLover on 2017-09-20FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Lewis gave his usual sharp critique of politics, life and other observations. He was current, fair in his comments and used Canadian content as examples or contrast. And of course didn't disappoint with his rants. Kathleen was very funny. Her observations in general were good but her stories about her family were extremely funny. Didn't realize how short she was but it didn't stop her from having command of stage and audience. Excellent night.

  • Really funny, must see

by Guilty1 on 2017-09-20FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

It was a really good time, both were very funny, both interacted with the audience. I will go again when they come back.

  • must see!

I knew it would be good,..but seriously my cheek muscles hurt from laughing and smiling so much! Needed medicine.

  • great show again!

by corvair on 2017-09-20FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

started on time....surprised some (late comers) that he started the show then returned at the end to his usual question....great show...very very diappointed that our seats were changed...to very inferior location

  • Great show, a little heavy on the politics.

by TFry on 2017-09-20FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

This was my second time seeing Lewis Black, I caught him at the NAC in Ottawa a couple of years ago. He was outstanding! While this performance was very good, FOR MY TASTE, he was a little heavy on the political environment his country is going through. I just really appreciated the stories that Mr. Black told at the previous performance I had been to. Kathleen Madigan was on stage next. She dwelled a bit on the politics as well, but not as much. Finished up by responding to rants that the audience had submitted. This was novel, and pretty good.

  • Not great

by oldfan22 on 2017-09-20FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - HamiltonRating: 2 out of 5

Very political, I think we need to get away from politics at this point. We are drowning in it and look for something else. No intermission between acts.

  • Satirist and Comedian Good Pairing

by Hardguitar2000 on 2017-09-20FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Lewis Black is as cutting now with his observational humour as ever. Trump is an easy target but fortunately it wasn't the whole evening. Oddly enough while he was on some members of the audience were a bit of a dick but he took it in stride. By the way the woman that yelled at someone else to put their phone away was right on. Phone person was irritating. Kathleen Madigan was very funny talking about her family, health care etc. and although this was the last show of the tour I recommend both of them if you get the opportunity. At the end of the show they did a "rant" which most of the audience didn't seem to understand. It wasn't improv but talking points by Lewis and Kathleen had been solicited from the audience before the show started.

  • You better get there!

Good to see Lewis in person and feel the full effect of his wit! Kathleen Madigan was an unexpected enjoyable surprise!
