The Los Angeles Philharmonic, affectionately called the LA Phil by concertgoers, is one of the most forward-thinking symphony orchestras in the country, as beloved by music lovers for its visionary programming as it is for its location in Frank Gehry's iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall. Originally founded in 1919, the Los Angeles Philharmonic emerged from relatively humble beginnings to become one of the world's premier symphony orchestras. Over the years, many notable conductors have led the orchestra, including Zubin Mehta, Andre Previn, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. In 2003, the LA Phil's popularity spiked after a move from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion to Frank Gehyr's sculptural Walt Disney Concert Hall, which boasts world class acoustics and a one-of-a-kind organ designed by the architect. Celebrated young conductor Gustavo Dudamel took the reins in 2009, paving the way for the LA Phil's continued presence at the vanguard of concert music.

This was one of the best events I've ever been to. What a great idea and venue.
First class performance great seats what more to say
Words cannot capture the essence of this concert! Gustavo Dudamel's reputation as the most exciting interpreter of orchestral music is without question; seeing him and the Los Angeles Philharmonic - LIVE - is an opportunity not to be missed!
Amazing show! While he did not perform some of his other hits, his sections with Star Wars and especially the final reel of E.T. with HD video was fantastic. Overall very enjoyable and would recommend.
I've never seen the LA Phil live before. I come from a smaller city with a professional orchestra of about 50 members, and seeing an orchestra that was this big, and yet still tighter than any orchestra I've ever seen, was a truly amazing thing. The program selection was really wonderful - often on a typical classical concert program, with a short piece, a concerto, and a symphony, there's one or two of the three that I could really take or leave. All three pieces - neither of which I can remember hearing before - were thrilling. The Hindemith was so dense and thick and rich, like a good dark chocolate or red wine. The Prokofiev concerto was subtle and graceful, and Daniel Hope was an absolute pleasure to watch and hear. Seeing his face up close on the big-screens in the Bowl was enlightening with regards to his interpretation and feelings for the piece. The Saint-Saëns was grand and proud and triumphant, with many intricate parts for the ear to catch on to. And it really showed off what the orchestra could do - I remember thinking, the orchestra in my city never could have pulled off this piece, it would have sounded like mud. The LA Phil absolutely sparkled.
Mozart's Requiem at the Hollywood Bowl was an unforgettable, amazing, sensual experience which I would highly recommend. The atmosphere at the bowl is of pure ecstasy, especially enjoying the garden box seats, quite the location.
This was a great performance. This was my first time at the Hollywood Bowl, and would definitely go back. The sound quality was fantastic.
Such a magical experience! I would recommend any event at the Hollywood Bowl. Bring a picnic and experience something truly special!
Cant get much better than this. Joshua Bell, great music, beautiful weather, great ambience. Venue and staff. I could do this in all seasons, every year. Then to meet Joshua Bell after the concert while he autographed CDs was the icing on the cake.
