  • Loverboy and Prism Retro Rockers

by mirrorman on 2013-04-22Casino Rama - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

My wife and i had a great time. Both bands brought back some fond memories of when we were younger. If there was a knock it would be that Prism's set was too short and Loverboys sound wasnt all that loud (there is a number 10 on those marshall amps) Mike Renos mic needed should have been turned up. As sometimes he was drowned out just from the backing rthym. when he should have been the lead. Otherwise it was a good show, and two thumbs up for the band Vital organs they had great sound, excellent joice of cover selections and seemed to genuinely have a good time.

This was a Benefit show for RVH in Barrie, and it had three different groups perform during the night, Vital Organs, a group made up of doctors and hospital staff played first, and they put on a good show. Prism came on next and blew the house down!! High energy output was the name of the game for them. Loverboy finished out the night and had everyone rocking the night out with their songs. I've seen Loverboy before, and will again. A truly great evening with some great bands and music.

  • Loverboy and Prism - Amazing!!!!!

    by Pebbles1963 on 2013-04-22Casino Rama - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

What can I say - truly an Amazing show! Being the first time seeing Prism I was blown away especially with Al Harlow. Such an amazing character - very dynamic and charismatic individual. I couldn't take my eyes off this man as I didn't want to miss what he was going to do next. Their music will live on for years. Loverboy was amazing - as always! Mike Reno was in top form belting out all those hits which have made Loverboy what they are today - an unforgettable band!!!!! This band never disappoints - having seen them several times - and I will continue to support these amazing musicians. Carry on guys!

Took a trip down memory lane, and it was still alot of fun. Prizm was great, nice to see them again, Loverboy is Loverboy, a little older, but still fun. The biggest surprise was Vital Organs, a local group of doctors playing cover tunes. Very cool!

  • Working for the weekend!!!!

by LamMan on 2012-06-13McPhillips Station Casino - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

The night was simply fantastic...the casino venue was surprisingly very good...sound worked very well..and the ambience of the space turned out better then I expected...The crowd consisted of fans well into their 60s' and they all appreciated the efforts by all the members...the songs brought back great memories....The high point of the evening was stolen by none other then Bassist Spyder...a winnipegger by trade and knew how to rile the crowd...was say basic ways and prowness....outstanding solo work...Mike Reno wore a bandanna at one point..but found them red leather pants of his had shunk..But he did a great job upfront...Good work boys and to Mcphillips Street Station..Well Done!!!!One more note 32 years passed since the last time I have seen them!!!! CHEERS!!!

  • Reno still has the pipes!

by Debbadoo on 2012-06-13McPhillips Station Casino - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Loverboy was absolutely awesome! The sound was a bit off the first song, but after that it was amazing! Mike Reno can STILL belt out the tunes just as well as when they were first released! Matt Frenette (hometown boy!) was amazing as always. The guys were really tight! Would go to see them again in a heartbeat!

  • As Good As Ever!

by demogirl on 2012-06-03McPhillips Street Station Casino - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

I was hoping to relive the 80s and I was not disappointed! This was a fantastic concert. They sounded just as they did 30 years ago and we had a blast. Not only could Mike still hit the notes, the band proved they still have it after all these years.

  • Loverboy Played all their hits

by Lynnsramblings on 2012-03-05Casino Rama - RamaRating: 3 out of 5

Well, it was great to hear all the old hits! I was surprised how short the concert was. Only 1 hour and 15 minutes and then they came back for a three song encore. I think it was the shortest concert I have ever been to.

  • HAD A BLAST AT LOVERBOY CONCERT

by SCBATECH on 2012-03-05Casino Rama - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

CASIO RAMA HAD A GREAT FACILITY FOR THIS CONCERT. THE CROWD GOT INTO THE CONCERT VERY QUICKLY. EACH BAND MEMBER DID A FANTASTIC JOB ON THEIR INSTRUMENT AND TOGETHER PULLED IT OFF. LOVED HEARING ALL THE OLD FAVORITES AND WOULD OF LIKE FOR THE CONCERT TO GO ON LONGER. I THOUGHT THEY NEEDED TO TURN UP THE VOLUMES AS I FIND IT IMPORTANT TO HEAR AND FEEL THE MUSIC. ALWAYS WANTING MORE.

  • Lover boy was Great!

    by Kgh3 on 2012-03-05Casino Rama - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

Nice to hear they can still Rock. Mike's voice is still very good. He should loose a few pounds, hopefully we'd have him around longer :-) We would have liked to hear the duet "almost paradise" even they could have subbed in a replacement for Anne. I do recommend anyone that loves this style of music. Thanks Mike,Spider and the rest of the band. Grant in Barrie

  • Loverboy Rocked Casino Stage !

    by Mandrews13 on 2012-03-05Casino Rama - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

I purchased tickets as a surprise for my husband. From the beginning of the show till the last song each song sounded amazing even though it is 30 years later. They kept us well entertained and it was great to see how well they worked together.Mike can still work that mike showing how he has mastered control over pitches and echoes. A lot of the songs bought back great memories. We really enjoyed it. As a teen we'd go to the snack bar and put our quarters in the jukebox."Turn Me Lose " was the first one every time . Amongst other favourites sung by Loverboy on the playlists .Man that's a great song.Needless to say then next day our son made a cd for us.Where my original LP went I don't know. We played it all day while doing renos on the house.

  • Excellent Show!!

by StyxChix on 2012-03-05Casino Rama - Orillia, OntRating: 5 out of 5

I had never seen Loverboy before and had no idea what kind of show they put on. Let me say it was a great show!! The band was really tight and not one note was missed during the performance. Mike's voice was in excellent form. After checking out their website I see they are only doing four shows so far this year ... perhaps that is why they where so great .... putting it all out there on the stage where it belonged!! The only downside was that at times Mike's voice was not that loud in comparison to the band, so it was hard to hear him at those times. Part of this was also due to his moving the mike away from himsele as he sang. ... But even then I still give it 5 stars!!
