LOVERBOY Melted the Snow in Whistler, They are HOT
by Python46 on 2011-11-30Whistler Olympic Plaza Outdoor Venue - Whistler, British Columbia Canada-11/26/2011Rating: 5 out of 5The first annual Whisler Food Bank Fundraiser honoured with both Trooper and LOVERBOY. The 2010 Olympic Plaza is the Venue for the concert. The weather was less than stellar and temperature was 1 degree C. It's an outdoor venue but it is covered. Several hundred people braved the cold and rain and were not disappointed.
It was a super intimate venue and us Lucky Ones who came to see the Vancouver Favourites were allowed to lean on the stage. It was a family event and the 2 RCMP's on site had an uneventful night. There was plenty of security on hand also. No alcohol event but lots of hot apple cider. Only 10 bucks or a food donation. What a deal!
Trooper started the show at 7pm. They did all their favourites. The Boy's in the Bright White Sports Car, 2 for the Show, all the greatest hits they could fit in just over an hour. Encored with Raise a Little Hell. Ra McGuire super frontman on vocals, Brian Smith Guitar, Gogo on Keyboards, Clayton Hill on Drums and Scott Brown on the Bass. It was so cold and Ra kept teasing Clayton his head was steaming. He was super hot from pounding the drums and having fun. They rocked , got the crowd all warmed up for LoverBoy. I just can't get over how happy they are and how they look like they are having the time of their life. Thanks again guys for doing a meet and greet after the show.
Lover boy got on stage about 9 and the Olympic plaza just exploded. These rockers are still so admired and are so personable we all were just blown away. Paul Dean on Guitar, Mike Reno vocalist and stellar frontman, Doug Johnson Keyboards and Sax, Matt Frenette Super Drummer and Kenny-Spider-Sinnaeve on the bass.
The show just had the whole audience singing to every song. What really impressed me was the attention the band gave to all the children. Paul, Spider and Mike would go out of their way to hand the kids guitar picks. Spider was playing to the audience right at the edge of the stage and one child grabbed his leg and wouldn't let go. He loved Spider. He did let go, it was so much fun, cold but fun.
They played to about 10:15. And then came out for a meet and greet. Matt gave out half a dozen drum sticks to the kids. All members signed my albums I brought, I even got a StreetHeart album autographed. Paul, Matt and Spider all played in StreetHeart together in the 70's.
I have a disability now but I was able to brave the cold for my 2 favourite local bands. You guys have no idea how special your show really was for me. Thank-you so much. I hope to make your next show when it's local. Thanks for meeting with me and all the other fans after the show. Keep on Rocking !
