    A legend in person...

by M. on 2019-11-09Bluma Appel Theatre at St Lawrence Centre - Toronto

One of the best author talks I’ve ever seen. We are lucky to have her in this world as an author, a Canadian one at that, a voice for the environment, commentator on the political climate, and a role model for strong headed women everywhere. Being in her presence felt like you were wrapped in an embrace of intelligence, witt and class.

    As feisty as ever

by RhondaH on 2019-11-09Bluma Appel Theatre at St Lawrence Centre - Toronto

As feisty as ever, Margaret Atwood tells us her thoughts and experiences in writing her latest novel. Well, not her latest novel… We’re still waiting to hear about that.

    Incredible!

by Michele on 2019-11-09Bluma Appel Theatre at St Lawrence Centre - Toronto

It was an incredible night. Towards the end I thought “can we do this every week?” Getting to see/hear Margaret Atwood in person was an honour. She was so warm, sharp and incredibly funny. We laughed a lot and I definitely didn’t want it to end.

    Engaging but off center

by keltoigirl9 on 2012-11-27Chan Centre For The Performing Arts - Vancouver

Being an admirer of Margaret Atwood's writing ability as well as her political beliefs and charitable endeavors,I attended her lecture with great anticipation. She did not disappoint. She was witty, charming, astute, and engaging. My one wish would have been that she had discussed her writing in more detail. I was also a little surprised at her very short (some may have thought flippant) answers to the first few students who nervously came up in the Q & A. But the most disappointing was that the scholar who was standing at a podium on the far left of the stage and then introduced Ms.Atwood, did not lead her to the centre of the stage where a podium and a pitcher of water(obviously for her) was waiting. Ms. Atwood stopped at the left hand podium and stayed there for the full lecture. Not only disappointing for us on the far right but definitely a "crane of the neck" for the people directly above her!!
