I cannot say enough, they killed it. The music, the lights, the crowd the entire atmosphere was off the charts! Best front man, H was just incredible..i mean they all were but H had it going on this weekend. Marillion...best kept secret, so shhhhh dont tell anyone. Love them
so this was my first experience of a Marillion weekend, been a fan since the beginning, but the last time i saw them live was 1989 on seasons end tour, I was then living in the UK. fast forward 30 something years and 3 days of Marillion in Montreal. night one was a good mix of older and popular songs and a great way to warm up and leave everyone wanting more. night two was the new album from beginning to end. An hour before its dark was already well listened to when it was released earlier this year, but witnessing this live was almost a spiritual experience and reduced many to tears (me included) night three was seasons end album from beginning to end and was the draw for me as like I said earlier was the last tour i saw Marillion on! Again delivered on every level!! Marillion are a masterclass of outstanding musicians that deliver the best live experience imaginable. Seeing Marillion should be a bucket list item and is now well and truly ticket off for me, there are so many memories engrain from this weekend experience, thanks Marillion that was better than five stars and blew me away along with the roof off the l'Olympia
My first Marillion weekend. Now I understand the magic. It’s a big family. The boost of energy is awesome. Lucy is as close to the fans as the band members themselves. Can’t wait for the next weekend
Fist time I saw this Tolkien namesake, Fish was at the mic. Lot of changes since then, LOL! Have seen the Hogarth line up a few times now, and the band always puts on a great tight show. The vocals seem a bit harsher though, or maybe it was where I was seated. But maybe not, as the guitar solos soared loud and clear. In any case, a great show. The fans loved it.
One of the best UK progressive rock bands who've been around for nearly 40 years! Great music, performance, interaction and acoustics that were appreciated by a capacity crowd. Good vibe!
They were fantastic from the opening song to the encore they were at the top of their game will go again in a heart beat
This is my first time seeing Marillion. I still don't know why the radio don't play more of their songs or people knows them more. They have incredible albums! The setlist for this concert was great. But for a band with that many good albums, there are always good songs left out. Also, what I'm seeing on this tour, is that they change the setlist every night. So if you have the opportunity to see them more than once, you won't regret it.
hottest evening of the year thus far, the band was amazing considering the temperature. talented artists always rise to the occasion no matter what is presented on their path....my evening started out meeting steve hogarth and shook his hand, blessings passed between us, i knew the night would only get better. thanks marillion for playing with all your heart and soul...it was a precious moment ...summer solstice...love and thanks for the bottled water...
The band was in great form and put together an excellent set from their entire career. It would have been great to hear a few of the other deep cuts they played at other shows on this tour, but what we got was very good. The venue was unbearably hot on a very hot day - the lineup outside in the heat became the increasingly sweaty and uncomfortable crowd inside and I am surprised no one passed out. The band commented a number of times on the heat and spent a lot of time between songs towelling off and throwing water bottles into the crowd - I think they were also worried about casualties, particularly since most on the floor had lined-up outside for two hours, had been standing through an hour pre-show, the opener and the headliner, and by the end, were into their fith or sixth straight hour of standing in 100 degree heat. There were a couple vents on the walls that seemed to be blowing some luke-warm air into the room, but had very little effect. Still amazes me that people come to these shows and yack throughout, but rudeness is certainly nothing the band or venue can do away with. Anyway - great show in a sauna, will bring a few towels next time, maybe a change of clothes.
Despite suffocatingly high temperatures and humidity Marillion performed an engaging and thoroughly professional show Wednesday night in Toronto. Classics from the "Fish Years" righty up to new material - there was something for all Marillion fans! Well worth the wait since their last North American tour. Bravo! The venue, The Opera House, however was not up to Marillion standards. Small, cramped and NOT AIR CONDITIONED is totally unacceptable in the year 2012. Poor visibilty from the mezzanine and balcony make this standing room only facility somewhere I'll never venture to again under any circumstances. Filthy, unhygienic washrooms that I'm sure even Toronto Health and Safety would be scared to check out.
Band was at their best . The only disappointment was the unbearable heat in the building and that it was a standing venue. Balcony was for guests I presume. I will never go see any concerts at the Opera House as I assumed it was something like Massey Hall. No seating was a bummer.
