From a long-time Dire Straits / Mark Knopfler fan i was truly moved by this concert. Living in British Columbia I never thought that I would have the opportunity to see him live. Definitely worth it!
Everyone''s attention was so fixed on the superb performance that at times you could hear a pin drop. All were listening so closely and the band didn't disappoint us at all. Each musician was so talented that you just wanted the concert to go on and on. They really honored all us fans by more than once continuing when all stood up and applauded asking for one more song. Mark Knopfler is so talented. His new songs that we were not familiar with were really good and it was an absolute delight to hear a few from the Dire Straight Days. Mark was such a Gentleman and it was nice to see how much he seemed to appreciate his band members and how instead of acting like the huge star that he is it seemed like he was just having a great time being one of the guys. If we ever get to see him again it won't be soon enough for us.
This guy still rocks. Fantastic concert - great mix of the old with the new. Kudos, Mr. Knopfler, Kudos!
Absoultely the best... we talked to people that atteneded this concert as going to a Mark Knopfler was on their bucket list! Great mix of the old and new - Sultans of Swing!! Can't be beat!
This was truly an amazing concert. Mark and his fellow musicians kept us spellbound and rocking from the first moment they began. At first I wanted to turn down the sound of the back up instruments in order to hear the lyrics more clearly. Then, I thought, I know the songs by heart just listen to the music. Wow. My daughter in law said I looked like a kid on Christmas morning. This was the first time I had seen him in person and it will definately not be the last. I look forward to his return to Vancouver.

They were great in the eighties, tightest eight piece group I've seen in awhile. The new album is good, but live takes it to another level.
Mark has stood the test of time , and unbelievably brillant concert. I had seen him 25 years ago and listening to him last night brought be right back there, sent chills down my spine. It was great to hear his new stuff, with his unmistakeable guitar sound and what a thrill for him to play lots of Dire Straits hits, more than I could have wished for. This is one of the best concerts I have ever seen and I have seen a lot!
Mark Knopfler and the band had a great show Friday night at the QET in Vancouver. The musicianship was outstanding! Mark had a great rapport with his band and the audience. Including encores, MK played for over two hours. The concert included Dire Straits classics Romeo and Juliet, Sultans of Swing, Telegraph Road, and Brothers in Arms. Going Home was featured during the encores.. Mark's four songs from Get Lucky were well received, as were his other post-DS tunes.
The Queen Elizabeth theatre was the best venue for this concert. The sound was great and very intamate. I have previously seen him at the Centre for the Performing Arts, but I found this location to be far superior for the sound. They did two encores and really responded to the enthusiam of the crowd. Everyone loved the show. What fantastic musicians!!! All 8 members of this ensemble were great! I will go to every concert that Mark Knophler has in Vancouver and will highly recommend to all my friends.
I have not been to the Queen E for over 30 years and was looking forward to this show and venue . I laughed as I was greeted by the staff . I had forgotten about their dressy tunics . They were great and made life easy getting around the theatre . The show its self was very good . Mark Knopfler was surrounded by a group of amazing musicians . They got through rock , folk . blues , country , and combinations of all four . Like all great musicians they made it look easy and were very comfortable on the stage . Knopfler himself was the king of ease . He was so relaxed and after a tune or two was in full form . There was a real push from the crowd for Dire straits tunes and Knopfler answered the call but still mixed the set up with new and old tunes from his post-straits career to really give a show that was exciting and interesting .
What a master of his trade. Wonderful show by an exceptionally gracious guy who geniunely appreciates his fellow musicians skill and talent. Show was full of new and old greats. Well worth it .

This man is a true artist from his writing skills to his playing the guitar with his own distinctive style and sound. Good mix of the years of his music with standing ovations for Romeo and Juliet, Telegraph Road and Sultan's of Swing. I am always amazed that he plays his electric guitar with just his fingers, no pick! I see him every time he comes to town and can't wait to see him again.
Great show at the QE Theatre. Surrounded by an ensemble of excellent musicians, Mark Knopfler put on a performance that enthralled and, at times, left me shaking my head in amazement. It unfolded at a relaxed pace, but the ease with with the band performed the music should not underestimate the brilliance of the performance. It was a pleasure to attend such a great show and what a venue. The QE must have the best acoustics in town - perfectly suited for the subtlety and ensemble nature of Knopfler's music.
90% of the time I don't know what the hell he's saying, but instumentally, he and his band were AMAZING. Loved it. After Sailing to Philidelphia,the third song he did, of which I couldn't understand one line, was SOO good? Does anyone know which album it was from?
Nice set list this year, introducing some new songs and retaining favourites.
Knopfler is a brilliant and gifted guitarist. The band was sensational. They gave and some. A real treat. Sat in the first seats of the dress circle. No obstructions. Acoustics fantastic.
Okay… I’m a huge fan of Mark and I just think he’s one of the best guitar player on the planet. But you don’t have to be a big fan to see how talented this guy really is… I have seen him almost every time he decides to go on tour for the last 10-15 years now, and he always gives a great performance. ALWAYS! Mind you, he’s not the only great musician on stage as he his surrounded by his long time drummer from the “Dire Strait era”, and 6 other multi-instrumentalist musicians, all absolutely incredible to watch and appreciate. And they entertained us for almost 2h30 non stop… Simply amazing!
paid way to much to see him wasnt happy thought he would play at least some dire straits again was not happy would like a refund
