    Martin Short was truly amazing

by ronearle on 2014-06-16River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

We would go see him again at any opportunity as he put on one of the most clever and funny shows we've ever seen. His interaction with the audience was first-class, and the show moved quickly from one theme to another without any undue pauses.

    Martin Short

by Finch on 2014-06-11River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

Very disappointed that Martin made no references to SCTV where he really got his start and no reference to his Canadian fellow comedians especially the late John Candy. Although he only used one expletive - thank you - the bathroom humour bordered on disgusting.

    Short on comedy

by Langley1 on 2014-06-11River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

Martin Short's performance was short on comedy. The show included video clips from his more successful days and although he returned to the stage several times in his old characters, most of the show was about name dropping smoozing with big celebrities and stories. It was interesting if you just wanted to see Martin Short in person but I was looking more for comedy not how far he's come from his Canadian days.

    Martine Short

by david191820 on 2014-06-09River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

Martin Short displayed a very impressive range of comical talent and creativity. His interaction with the audience was warm and highly humorous. For a person who has experienced alot of trauma and grief in his life one would never know it. He made us laugh whole heartedly and thank goodness included Canadian content in his dialogue and show. I consider Marty to be a comic genius and would love to see him again and again !!!!!!!!!!

Energy and entertainment reminiscent of Broadway

by Dougy200 on 2014-06-09River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

Martin sprung onto the stage - no warm up act - and immediately began a routine of story telling, song, dance, impersonations and humour that lasted a full 90 minutes. And it left you wanting for more. Martin spins you through an emotional gamut - humour, inspiration, and melancholy with nothing more than piano accompaniment and decades of one man showmanship. Thanks Martin - it truly was a blast.

    Not Worth The Price

by Anonymous on 2013-03-03The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Enjoying Martin Short in person was what drew us in to buying tickets for this event. But he fell short of our expectations: Apart from bringing out his two well-known characters, Short himself seemed poorly prepared for this event. (1) He heralded the other comedians as all being from Canada. Other than himself, only one was Canadian--maybe; we're not even sure now. (2) He seemed to turn too often to using his pianist as a joke-point rather than having plenty of new material ready; and (3) His sudden launch into a song about the death of bin Laden was really surprising--not at all in the realm of comedy, a primarily U.S.-focussed topic, and a violent theme that certainly did not elicit laughter, which was what we and those around us (equally bemused) expected to be doing that evening. We got the impression that this song was something that he dredged up from a previous performance rather than being an original work specifically for this gala. In short (no pun intended), Mr. Short seemed to come to this "gala" quite empty-handed. The British guy was delightful--he's really coming along! The Australian was excellent--we'd pay to see him alone. The other two men were mediocre and need to hone their craft considerably. The female was dismal. Considering that Martin Short was the headline for this gala, we were surprised that he seemingly had no input into the selection of those who were to follow him. Certainly, he knew nothing about them. We also were surprised by the wildly mixed quality of those comedians, who for a "gala", we had been anticipating much better EXCEPT FOR THE BRIT AND THE AUSSIE, BOTH OF WHOM HAD WELL-THOUGHT-OUT, VERY WELL-DELIVERED, AND REALLY FUNNY ROUTINES. The rest, including Martin Short, were a waste of $$ and time.

    Disappointing event

by Anonymous on 2013-02-12The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I thought this was an evening with Martin Short; I had not realized that he would be primarily presenting other comedians. Had I known this I would not have been interested.

    Canadian Icon -- deservedly

by Funnybone on 2013-02-10The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Martin Short is a Canadian treasure. He is multi-talented -- comedy, singing, some dancing. He adlibs brilliantly. He plays several memorable characters as well. The comedians were a mixed bag -- John Dore, Phil Harmley and Wil Anderson were very good.

Opening Gala without much Martin Short

by Dragonflies123 on 2013-02-10The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

The advertising for this event was deceptive at best. It was a surprise to find out, once there, that there were six comedians lined up for this performance, and that they would take up the majority of the evening. Martin Short, aside from a couple side bits, was more the MC than anything else. Fair enough: Martin Short is the MCs for six comedians. But that's how it should've been advertised. I spoke to a number of people that night about how the gala was put on, and everyone expected some kind of warm-up act before Short, and then, after the intermission, an hour or so of him. John Dore needs notes to remind him about his "jokes"? Did he take his appearance very seriously? A couple of the young comedians were quite funny, but out of a wonderful city like Vancouver, those chosen didn't seem to be the best you could've found. Bottom line: customers shouldn't have to do deep research in the internet to find out what kind of performance is being planned. It should be as straight forward as possible in the announcement.

    Who doesn't love Jiminy Glick!

by MakeMeLaugh on 2013-02-10The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

This show consisted of 6 comedians and Martin. I would have prefered seeing much more of Martin but understand that the others were needed while Martin changed into his variety of characters etc. While I'd say the back up troup was average, the female comedian was like a deer hit by a car on the highway. You just wanted to shoot her to put her out of her misery. Martin Short is such a talented performer and a joy to see. My favorite characters are Ed Grimly and Jiminy Glick. Jiminy killed it when he stuffed donuts into his mouth and jumped on Sophie, his "interviewee"! Martin has a powerful singing voice and is a great star to see. I'd like to see Martin spend some time talking about himself and maybe some life stories or interacting with the audience, but again, that's just to see more of Marty.

    Martin Short Comedy Show

by Sunshyn on 2009-07-31River Cree Resort & Casino - Edmonton

I liked that he played all the different characters that he has done over the years. He was also interactive by bringing 3 men on stage to do the 3 amigos. He made us laugh and that is a good thing.

    Mahvelous Marty

by ProudCanadian on 2009-07-28River Cree Resort & Casino - Edmonton

Martin Short was absolutely hysterical. He is charming, hilarious and extemely talented. Stand up, video clips, impersonations, storytelling, singing and improv made this show a night to remember. We laughed out loud all the way through, and were thoroughly entertained, as Martin gave us exactly what we came for - most beloved moments from his long and successful career on stage, T.V. and in the movies. What a treat!
