MATT ANDERSEN IN CONCERT:
Canadian folk and blues musician Matt Andersen is one of the hardest working artists on the road, averaging upwards of 200 live performances a year. It's easy to see why audiences love him -- Andersen is an impressive force to behold at his authentic live shows, and his virtuoso guitar playing and powerful vocals are matched with an equally impressive knack for connecting with fans. Whether he's covering classics like "Ain't No Sunshine" or performing cuts from his 2014 album Weightless, Anderson's passion and showmanship always elevate his material to the next level on his must-see tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Hailing from the blue collar Canadian community of Perth-Andover, Matt Anderson got his start in 2002 with the band Flat Top. By the mid-'00s the budding bluesman was performing solo, honing the narrative-driven style he's become known for with extensive touring throughout the US and Canada. He made his album debut in 2007 with Second Time Around, following up with several acclaimed studio and live albums in 2008-09. He scored a considerable critical success in 2011 with the album Coal Mining Blues, which depicted working class stories from his hometown. In 2014 Anderson released the album Weightless to another round of critical praise, building excitement among fans for his continued touring.

Matt Andersen and his band were AMAZING, venue was clean and comfortable, staff were helpful, parking was easy.
Matt Andersen always gives a great concert. Amazing Talent and voice! We loved it and enjoyed every minute! Great music and The Hello Darlins were also a great opening act.
the venue was awesome the sound was outstanding and well Matt is the real deal
Other than YouTubing Matt Andersen's music, I didn't know what to expect attending the concert. In my opinion, the music translates do a richer, deeper listening experience in a live setting. The music is emotional, soulful, honest and sincere. I appreciated the balance of big, boppers and slow burns. If you're take a flier and seeing the band for the first time I think you will be happy with your choice.
Matt Andersen is a legend in the making! A voice rarely matched and a show well worth attending.
Great opening act and Matt picked up power throughout the show ending with a Grand Finale.
He was amazing! I don’t think though his new back up singers add anything extra. For me, it made his voice harder to hear. My favourites were when he sang alone. Ain’t No Sunshine blew me away! He is also personable, just sorry his concert wasn’t another hour longer.
I have Seen Matt 5+ times. He never disappoints. The man has a voice of an angel. Him with the band was so fun! The openers were great too!
I loved the concert. Matts voice is incredible. He seems to have been born with the guitar in his hand. Very entertaining. The band is equally incredible. Love the inclusion of all band mates. That was my first Matt Andersen concert, definitely not my last.
A very different performance from what I am used to seeing him have as he had a full band behind him. As usual, very strong, powerful vocals by Matt.
One of the best concerts I’ve seen in a long while. Matt Anderson is a Canadian treasure and his surrounding group for this tour added exactly the right formula. Hard to see how it could get better but Matt will figure out a way if there needs to be. Top notch. Bottle of Joy it was.
Matt and crew + the Hello Darlins put on a hell of a great show! I was thoroughly disappointed in the mixing for the show, as it was far far too loud, and I still couldn't hear the vocals for most of the show. That said, what I could hear was fantastic. I would highly recommended catching this show!
First became familiar with Matt Andersen when he played the Calgary Folk Festival years ago. Have been a fan since. Great concert with the Big Bottle of Joy. Still a big fan of his solo acoustic sets.
Despite a glitch with the sound system at the outset (soon fixed) the show was great! Matt is a great entertainer with a fabulous voice and energy. Old songs, new songs, the show was great! Would definitely go again.
Matt was engaging and down to earth with the audience - amazing voice and guitar skills! Only wished the acoustic performance of songs, on his own, in the middle of the show was a larger/longer portion - he really shines during that performance portion!
This was a fantastic show! The new and the familiar tunes were excellent. The keyboards - piano and organ - guitars, drums AND back up singers were amazing. We love Matt’s thoughtful song writing style and the topics tell truly human stories that are relatable. Thank you for the tribute to Stuart McLean - we loved Matt’s version of “There’s no Sunshine When She’s Gone”. Amazing musical evening.
The Hello Darlins were great. An excellent opening act. Matt Andersen has one of the best voices ever. The first few songs were mixed so poorly that we could not understand any of the lyrics. The solo acoustic part of the act was great and the sound man seemed to get his act together for the entire band after that. It was much better but the first part of the show was very poorly mixed.
Matt is such a powerful performer that he divides the world into two groups. Those that understand and those who haven't seen him live yet. The short mini set in the middle where Matt played solo with acoustic guitar in hand was a special treat.
Matt’s band drowned him out. Could not hear his narrative because his voice was so muffled. Best parts were his solos and time with the Hello Darlins. Won’t be returning to the Jube. Come from Away had awful sound as well.
