    Great setup but Vancouver sucks

by Countess on 2023-11-28UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

I’m only giving this four stars because Vancouver crowds suck and the sound in the venue left a lot to be desired. Meshuggah had an incredible stage show, despite the fact that the band barely moves. I think they know that they are too technical for movement so that’s why they use such awesome stage craft. Thunderbird arena is a no for me in the future though, and Vancouver fans need to get loud and have more fun.

    Words are essentially pointless…

by masontempus on 2023-11-28UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

I don’t listen to much metal; most of it simply leaves me cold. Meshuggah, however, exist in a class of one. They’re it. They stand alone. They astonish me, and I do not astonish at all easily. There’s no point in comparing artists, never has been. There’s no such thing as “best” in music. But I saw the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Rush, Tull, Zappa ( 6 times ), Allan Holdsworth ( at least 15 times ), Return To Forever, UK, King Crimson ( half a dozen times ), Yes and many, many others; what they each had in common with Meshuggah was truly magnificent musicianship and a singular, unique vision. And, like Meshuggah, they could all reduce me to tears and leave me both utterly drained and inspired to better myself. Last Saturday night I experienced a genuinely staggering performance. It was my second Meshuggah concert, it will not be my last. PFM

Amazing band but sound levels at UBC area weren’t the best

by TK on 2023-11-28UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

Meshuggah is one of the best metal bands in the world but the sound tech at UBC Thunderbird area let the drums and vocals be washed out and almost unrecognizable through the guitar treble. Still a great show!

    heavy >:)

by Lee on 2023-11-28UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

they played perfectly as far as i could tell, their presence and visuals were sick, the mix was expectedly heavy as fuck, and the people were really cool for the most part. my neck still hurts 3 days later 10/10 shoutout to the young guy with the long straight hair and no beard in the pit at the vancouver show, i was the other young beardless guy with white hair and glasses in the small chance you see this lol

    Wrong Headliner

by Cody on 2023-11-28UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

I personally thought that In Flames should have headlined this tour, as me and most of the Arena I went to left after In Flames. Messuggah and Whitechapel were waaaay too scream-o for me. Also, the venue was pretty far from the downtown core. Overall, a 7/10 and that score goes solely for In Flames and their VIP I did. Great band and a great group of guys!

    Meshuggah never disappoints!

by JonC on 2013-02-21Sound Academy - Toronto

This was very easily one of THE best concerts I've been to. The bands were incredible, the entire evening was amazing. The only drawback was that it was way too crowded, or it felt that way anyway. I've been to a lot of concerts, but I don't recall ever having to spend roughly an hour to actually get out of the venue after the show. It also took about 15 minutes to walk about 20 feet to get from close to the stage to the bar, because it was so packed.

    Meshuggah/Animals As Leaders/Intronaut

    by Austin1995 on 2013-02-21Sound Academy - Toronto

Both opening bands really killed it (Intronaut/Animals As Leaders). Sound academy is an amazingly intimate venue where you feel really close to the bands on stage. The entire building was so full of energy and being so small, made it a really personal experience that won't soon be forgotten. The lighting/sound was very well done, and for about 2 and a half hours of music, the tickets were very fairly priced. The venue is so small, that I managed to meet Tosin Abasi (AAL), which was the coolest part. Seeing Meshuggah live really turned me on to their music, having gone into the show knowing very little of their music.

    Heaviest.

by HandyHandy on 2012-06-15Sound Academy - Toronto

The most insane / technical metal show I've ever been to. The band is so incredibly tight. Good to either hang back and watch in awe, or bounce around in the moshpit. GO SEE THEM!

by lazyboybd on 2012-06-11Sound Academy - Toronto

Too much metal, heavy awesumness \m/ I've not been a meshuggah fan for long, this was first time watching meshuggah live and freaking heavy stuff they pulled. I am glad I went! Summing it up would be the quote from my buddy 'Meshuggah for President'
