Mike and the Dirty Knobs put on a true old-school rock n roll show at the Danforth. Played some new stuff and some classics. All great. Love that Heartbreakers sound.

  • Great Rock n Roll Band

by Terri on 2024-07-19The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent musicians. Nice to see Steve Ferrone on drum kit. Although he looked tired. Was last show of tour.Mike very personable. Band has improved a lot since last year where I saw them at same venue, Danforth Music Hall. Wanted to buy a t shirt but US payment system didn’t take tap. Needed physical card or cash.

  • Mike Campbell and the band were amazing!

by Fireball on 2024-07-19The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Dirty Knobs rocked from start to finish! Having seen Tom Petty several times, I was hoping that this would be the next best thing and they certainly lived up to my hopes! Mike's is a master on the guitar and having long time Heartbreaker Steve Ferrone on the drums just made it feel right. Very cool that they bring a few Petty classics into the set and their new stuff continues to have that vibe that long time fans will gravitate to right away. Can't wait to see them again next time they're nearby!

  • Great concert!

by Jogogreen on 2022-09-01The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Mike Campbell and his band put on a great concert. They played straight ahead rock and roll and played songs from their albums and Tom Petty. So great to hear that Heartbreakers sound again. Really impressed.

Fantastic show. The opening act, Alvin Youngblood Hart, was incredible. First rate. Mike Campbell was fantastic. Small technical issue with some of the microphones, but it’s live entertainment these things happen. Overall 10 outta 10

  • Great night of rock n' roll

by GJN on 2022-08-31The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

A great show in a terrific venue (Danforth Music Hall). The material on the two first albums a well written rock played by really talented musicians. Hadn't been to show in two years and this was the right show at the right time. Thanks to Mike and the band.

Thes best venue ever, to have one of the most renowned guitar player like Mike Campbell so close and general admission is perfect and social and allows distance saving. And I’m all love love love thanks so much

  • Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs 28 August Toronto

by Bluesdeville57 on 2022-08-31The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great. Mike and his band played for at least two hours giving the crowd a varied selection of originals, covers and some classic Heartbreaker tunes. At times I thought the PA / vocal sound was being washed out by the instruments. Later in the show the balance seem to improve. Also some nice harmony singing from the Toronto crowd. Even Mike said so. Mike puts his heart into his shows.

  • Band mix great but they left Mike's vocals In California

by Whinersmusic on 2022-08-31The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

A great show but, alas, the mix had Mike's vocals way down behind the band instruments. I've been at other shows at the Music Hall where the mix was bang on so it must be an issue of a new venue to the band or the like. Don''t want to nail the sound person (local or with the band?) I was in the balcony and that may have impacted as well. I could actually hear their amps from the stage from up there and suspect sound person just placed more of that into the hall speakers as well giving the music side a tad too much attention. I love the two Dirty Knob albums but none of the lyrics got through. Even with the Petty numbers, it was a bit rough. However, when the band brought it down to some quiet parts, you could get more vocals. Those parts were highlights and you could see, feel and hear the band at work as a very tight group. The newest member of the group at the 2nd lead fit right in as far as that goes. The use of the e-bow was fantastic. Different tones and effects from the pedal boards was like being at a clinic of what to do live. All-in-all, I was glad to hear Mike at work. Dexterity comes though all over. Mike is able to involve the crowd in fun ways and started that early in the show - the first song actually - and got everyone into it real fast. 5 star show with 2-3 star sound. Hope to see him again sometime soon at a different venue perhaps.
