In the annals of pop music history, 2013 will forever be known as the year of Miley Cyrus. Facing unprecedented levels of public scrutiny over her racy image, her appropriation of hip hop culture, and even her haircut, the former Disney star still managed to come out on top, releasing her fourth studio album Bangerz to critical acclaim and a number-one spot on the Billboard 200. With production help from top-shelf producers including Pharrell Williams, will.i.am, and Dr. Luke, Bangerz features a unique hybrid of country and hip hop that has clearly resonated with audiences, earning Miley her first US number-one hit “Wrecking Ball.”
Rivaling the success of Bangerz has been the controversy surrounding Miley’s dramatic new image, which borrows heavily from “ratchet” culture in the form of grills, bling, and twerking. Provocative music videos for “Wrecking Ball” (dir. Terry Richardson) and “We Can’t Stop,” along with her infamous performance with Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, raised more than a few eyebrows, and even inspired a series of concerned open letters from Sinead O’Connor. Debate over Miley’s new image, however, has done nothing to hinder her success -- the videos for “Wrecking Ball” and “We Can’t Stop” shattered Vimeo viewing records, and her VMA performance was the most tweeted about performance in the history of, well, Twitter. Add to that a successful October 5 appearance on Saturday Night Live and you could say Miley’s year has been “pretty cool.” Fans can catch Miley LIVE in concert on her 2013 Jingle Ball tour – even if you don’t know how to twerk, it’s sure to be an experience to remember.
Miley’s career as an entertainer began in 2003 with several small acting roles, including an appearance opposite her father Billy Ray Cyrus on his hit show Doc. In 2006, she launched to mainstream success with her breakout role in Disney’s Hannah Montana, which spawned several films and albums, including her multi-platinum pop debut Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. In 2009, Miley gained exposure to country audiences with crossover hit “The Climb,” featured on the soundtrack for Hannah Montana: The Movie. Her third studio album, 2010’s Can’t Be Tamed, marked a departure for Miley -- the inclusion of dance elements and a distinctly more suggestive image foreshadowed what would ultimately come to fruition on 2013’s Bangerz, her biggest success to date.
I travelled from Port Alberni to Seattle I wished she had played in Vancouver BC at GM Place. She needed a better stage we were on the side and she hardley come to the side maybe ten times they need to remember that not everyone can get front facing seats. my kids loved it.I also wished she did one or two numbers as Hannah Montana
Drove to Seattle from Canada to see the show with my 6 year old daughter for a daddy daughter trip, who was pumped about seeing Hannah Montana. This was definately not a Hannah Montana show- it was all Miley Cyrus. I get what's happening- she's looking to shed her "disney" image but it was disappointing to my 6 year old who expected to see the "Best of Both Worlds". I got that "uh oh" feeling watching Miley that she's heading towards the Brittany (sp?) life, all sexed up on stage. All that said, my friend was there with her 11 year old who loved it. Just a heads up- if you expect Hannah- it could be a disappointing evening.
WE really enjoyed the concert. Miley has certainly grown up in both her music and her style. Most of the music was really not suited to younger girls, and yet i say hundreds of girls under 7 years old.
Having Miley's brother play for the pre-concert was terrible. My seven year old daughter had to close her eyes. He was not appropriate for all the young girls that were there to see their Hannah. He even took off his shirt to change in front of everyone and the tattoos.... Well, my daughter turned her eyes away. His dancers were also inappropriate for the young girls. Miley was awwesome, she is definately growing up and sang some songs a bit too heavy and all the hair flipping. My daughter did love it though. Excellent show.
The kids had a great time well done easy in and out of the venue!!
The seating was not good we were in 6a row 1 and we could not see Miley only on the screens we didn't get to see her dancers at all the stage needs to be higher.
My daughters thought it was the greatest concert they have seen so far! Very pleased that my daughters had an opprutunity to enjoy such an event!
I cannot believe how amazed i was. I would deinetly go see her again in concert.
The concert was very entertaining. Miley has a great voice that is so recognizable. I hope this young star can stay on the right path. She has a great future ahead of her. My girls and I loved her....
This was not Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus...just Miley. Music was outstanding. Excellent live performance for a young star. Only 90 minutes, but not much of a catalog to choose from yet. The Tacoma Dome was brutal. The seating was not steep enough to have a stage at the end of the arena. Too difficult to see from the side if you were further away from the stage.
What an amazing young talented singer!!! Every person in the stadium had a great time! I would go again if she came back to another venue. We drove for 4 hours to watch it, loved EVERY mintue!!
MOMS and daughters were thrilled to see MILEY as herself and enjoyed her numerous hits. THe kids loved the special effects. WE were NOT thrilled with the seating in the TACOMA DOME, the stage should have been in the middle of the arena for all of the smaller fans to see her. OUR girls stood on their seat in$79 tickets to see over the top of other kids standing...the people in the cheaper seats had the best views...that was disappointing, especially after driving for 4 hours.
My mom and I drove 3 hours from Vancouver, Canada to see the concert. My mom said it was so much fun doing a road trip with just me and her and seeing your concert!! My most favorite part was when you where on the motorcycle in the air. It was sooooo cool! I also liked the scene with the frog and the guys climbing up the walls with the glowing green lights in the Fly on Wall number. But my most favorite part is when the floor sank down and you waved good bye to us at the end of concert. Thank you I had so much fun at my very first concert!!
Great performance, Costumes, Props and displays! Miley pleased the crowds.
miley was terriffic!! she so unbelievably amazing live! it was well worth it!! She song ao many songs and rocked it out to each one! she gave it her all and you could tell she was loving it! I love her!
We drove all the way from Vancouver, BC to see Miley in concert and it was great to finally see her in concert. The concert focussed heavily on her Miley songs with a few Hannah Montana highlights to keep the younger crowd happy. The opening act, MetroStation was ok, but Jonas Brothers was a better match. Daughter would have preferred the Best of Both Worlds type concert with Hannah Montana songs, but it was still great to see Miley in concert. Fun night that she'll remember for a long time. Volume level of music combined with thousands of screaming fans was ear piercing at times so if you're a parent, consider some ear plugs :). MetroStation performed about 35 minutes. Miley performed for about an hour and a half. Show starts at 7pm and ends around 9:40pm. Everything started on time, give or take a few minutes. If you are parking at a stadium, see if you can get parking at the end of the parking lot so you can leave easier. We waited about 45 minutes to get out of the parking lot!
I took my 15 year old daughter to see Miley in Tacoma from Vancouver, BC. I was thrilled to see such a well done concert. She did not disappoint. Fans went crazy for her and she sang 'live' unlike other performers.
Miley's concert was awesome. Me and the kids loved it!!!! It's hard to believe she's only 16, she sings and performs amazing. Will go again.

I THOUGHT SHE WAS AMAZING SHE PLAYED LOTS OF SONGS AND WAS FANTASTIC. I WOULD DEFINITLEY SEE HER AGAIN. METRO STATION WASNT GREAT BUT MILLEY WAS AWESOME!!!! GO MILEY
