About

World-renowned DJ and super-producer Moby dropped his 11th studio album Innocents in October 2013, impressing fans yet again with the announcement that it was entirely recorded in his Los Angeles apartment. Moby is best known for the 1999 musical milestone, “Play,” which not only sold 10 million copies and produced eight singles, but also turned EDM into a household name. In 2013, Moby entertained ticket holders with both old and new songs, covering popular and lesser-known material from all 11 of his studio albums. Between a small tour in support of “Innocents,” as well as a handful of west coast DJ sets and festivals, Moby keeps concertgoers in both theaters and rave tents happy with his massive energy and stage presence. His newest album "Innocents" is an ambient and introspective LP. It features a broad range of guest collaborators, including Skylar Grey, Cold Specks, Mark Lanegan, Damien Jurado and Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips.

Cycling through several pseudonyms, Moby had his breakthrough as Moby with his single "Go." In 1993, Moby signed with Mute Records and in 1999, his fifth studio album "Play" sold millions, sky-rocketing him into super stardom. “Innocents” is the first album Moby has made that is self-produced, and this new creative approach has helped generate some of the artist's most mesmerizing and ambient electro-pop in years. Considered by AllMusic as "one of the most important dance music figures of the early 90s," Moby will not disappoint in the days to come. From early 1990s rave anthems and forays into break-beat hardcore to the gorgeous melodies and string arrangements on classic albums, like “Play,” “18” and “Wait for Me,” a Moby concert runs the stylistic gamut when it comes to music. It's like watching a master DJ make a great mix tape right before your eyes.

    Love Moby but...

by BeTox on 2011-10-25Métropolis - Montreal

The show in Montreal was rather average. For me I wanted to hear more from his latest album "Destroyed". And even though I was located near the far back end, I found the volume far too loud. Moby's refined sound does not require heavy metal type volume.

Moby always turn what is to be a great show into the most amazing show filled with musical brilliance! Loved the show, the guy is a musical genius and his proximity with the crowd is the best thing ever! Good Job!

If he was to play every week, I would go back every single time! I didn't know what kind of show to expect from him, and I got way more then what I could imagine! And must see show for every one who enjoys electro/disco/dance...and even rave!

Moby in person does not disappoint! Also terrific that he even bothered to stop and play at a small venue in the conservative capital of Canada.

    Moby

by rucman on 2009-10-30MacEwan Hall - Calgary

I've been listening to this guy since 1991 - he is a creative genius. A real privilege to absorb myself for two hours and fifteen minutes with such a talented individual. And waht an awesome band he had with him, all amazing but gotta single out Kelli Scarr (who also warmed up for the Mobe-ster.) One of the best gigs I've ever seen. Thanks!!

Moby - some good, some bad but still

by pconroy on 2009-10-28Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Moby has changed a lot over the years (haven't we all?). Migrating from his early punk and dance days (yes, the two can coexist) his latest offerings are significatnly more mellow. Sadly the newer mellow songs just don't cut it live. The newer tracks also lack the 'gospel' vibe of the 'Play' and '18' albums. Luckily he played some of the classics (go, feeling so real) which had the crowd dancing away. Entertaining (but possibly a little grumpy tonight) but not unforgettable, Moby still has 'it' but he needs to focus on his strengths.

    Better than expected

by sbutter on 2009-10-26MacEwan Hall - Calgary

I didn't think Moby live would be that impressive, but I was wrong. He put on a great show and was supported by a few really amazing female vocalists. He played a good mix of old and new songs too to get the crowd going.

    11 Years, Well Worth It!!

    by Sarah25 on 2009-10-25MacEwan Hall, - Calgary

As a die hard Moby fan, I've waited for 11 years to see him, ever since I heard Porcelain, and you know what? I travelled over 1300kms for this once in a lifetime chance, and I'm left totally satisfied! We showed up 45 mins before the doors opened, and got 2nd row baby!! Other than that 7ft tall guy in front of me, I got some great pics! I would recommend this to any music lover who loves to move! Even my 50year old mom loved it! Excellent for all ages, except standing and waiting for 3 hours in heels bit the big one. Would love to get a video of the whole thing, singers, violinist, bass, and drummer were all amazing! I hope Moby comes back to Canada before another 11 years goes by! Sang every word of every song, and lost my voice because of it! Thank you, thank you thank you! Skydiving, check! Disneyland, check! Moby concert, CHECKCHECK!! Now, I'm a happy lady!

    Moby concert left us waiting

by sugarbee on 2009-10-25Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

After waiting in line on a chilly night, my husband and I waited an additional 2 hours inside to hear Moby. The concert ticket stated that doors opened at 8pm. Moby didn't hit the stage until just after 10. Unfortunately for us, we were not able to stay much past 10 as we had another commitment. We ended up hearing three songs (which were impressive) and then we had to leave. Overall, I would say that this concert was a big disappointment.

    Moby was fantastic!

by Sheffield2Edmonton on 2009-10-25Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

What a good show Moby and his band put on, on Friday in Edmonton. The venue (Edmonton Event Centre) was great for the kind of music he plays - dance, trance, rave stuff. We had a blast - go see him if you can.

Quite a wait but then it was awesome

by arkandale on 2009-10-25MacEwan Hall - Calgary

The show which had a start time at 7:00pm did not start for a quite a while. The opening act started after 8:00 but then there was nothing for over an hour and most of the people become quite upset and started to scream. We had to wait for Moby to come on stage around 9:15-9:20 pm. Unfortunately, we could not stay to the end. We will have to see Moby again. He truly is amazing.

If you have a chance to see Moby live, just go! He's amazingly talented and energetic - after the show he was off DJ'ing across the road!
