MOD SUN IN CONCERT:
Mod Sun is short for Modern Sunshine, which in turn is shorthand for Movement On Dreams Stand Under None. With a name like that it comes as no surprise that the rapper's extensive catalog is full of relentlessly sunny tracks that are even more blissful in concert. Influenced by artists as diverse as Kid Cudi, Bob Dylan, and Wu Tang Clan, he describes his music as "hippy hop" - a combination of hip hop music and hippie culture. He refers to his fan base as his "friend base", and keeps that sentiment strong in concert where he interacts with ticket buyers to keep them thoroughly engaged. With standout songs like "No Girlfriend" and "Never Quit" -- an ode to marijuana featuring Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker -- his live shows are happy affairs that suffuse audiences in positive vibes.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Mod Sun, aka Dylan Smith, was raised between Minneapolis with his mother and Long Beach, CA with his father. He started playing drums at age 13 and by 16 was touring with pop punk and post-hardcore bands including Four Letter Lie and Scary Kids Scary Kids. In 2009 he underwent a hip hop metamorphosis and adopted the Mod Sun moniker, releasing his first mixtape Let Ya Teeth Show later that year. He followed up with several mixtapes and EPs over the next few years including fan favorites Blazed By The Bell in 2011 and Happy As F--k in 2012. His unique brand of electro-influenced hip hop has drawn collaborators like G-Eazy, Schoolboy Q, and Shwayze. In 2015 he released his long-awaited debut album Look Up on Rostrum Records, the indie label responsible for launching Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.
I have been listening to Mod Sun for almost a decade. Found him through our good friend Blackbear and I've been in love ever since. Sadly he was banned from Canada just before I became part of the Friendbase. Got to see him perform on the Love Sux tour last year but him headlining? OH MY FUCKING GODS! I'm so so glad I went broke to see him and his crew perform at both the Toronto and MTL dates. I'd break the star meter if I could!

This was the first time I went to see mod sun also the first time I went to see a show of this type of music and it’s was the best show I’ve ever went too.! Like this was amazing kept everyone up and moving! Standatlantic was very good as week and partyalone was very good too! Really enjoyed this show!

It was the first time I heard his music and I immediately loved the vibes. I’ve been listening to his stuff ever since and I can’t wait until I can see him live again!! :))🤍
Nope. He’s right here. Mod is not only amazing live but what he stands for as a human and as an artist is incredible. The experience of seeing mod sun live is like something you will not see anywhere else. His energy on and off stage is so fun welcoming and happy. Go see him if you get the chance he is a movie.
I have been to so many concerts but nothing compared to this. It was better than front row at def leppard - that says something. Mod Sun has the best voice ever and his energy is unmatched.
