Montreal Canadiens History
With an NHL-record 24 Stanley Cup Championships, eight conference championships, 24 division titles, and a Hall of Fame contingent of more than 50 players and more than a dozen coaches and executives, the Canadiens have an unrivaled pedigree.
The team, founded in 1909 as part of the National Hockey Association (forebear to the NHL), won its first Stanley Cup Championship in 1916. Behind legendary center Howie Morenz, Montreal added championships in 1924, 1930 and 1931. The latter two titles came at the Montreal Forum, the arena they would call home for 70 years. In 1942 the league was reduced to six teams; the Canadiens were selected as one of the remaining teams to form the “Original Six” and the foundation of the league we know today.
With eventual Hall of Fame right wing Maurice "Rocket" Richard anchoring the "Punch Line" with Elmer Lach and Toe Blake, the Canadiens won a Stanley Cup Championship in 1944 and '46. Blake would return as head coach in the next decade, piloting them to five consecutive Stanley Cup Championships between 1956 and 1960. The Canadiens won four more Stanley Cup Championships in the 1960s (three under Blake).
Sparked by future Hall of Famers such as Guy Lafleur, Ken Dryden and Larry Robinson, the Habs earned six Stanley Cup Championships in the 1970s — five with Scotty Bowman at the helm. Bowman would go on to become the winningest coach in NHL history.
The Canadiens won six division championships and three conference titles and made the Playoffs every year in the 1980s, adding one Stanley Cup Championship to their resumé when they defeated the Calgary Flames to close out the 1985-1986 season behind the goaltending of rookie Patrick Roy. They returned to the Finals in 1993, again behind Roy, to beat the Los Angeles Kings.

Kayden Guhle…..enough said except we are in the playoffs baby!!!!!
The Bell Centre was electric! Go Habs Go! What an amazing experience. Highly recommend it. Lots of food places and very affordable. Not a bad seat in building
All was perfect. Great time, great game. Can't wait to go again. I have seen NFL and NHL games, always been a smooth procedure.
Fun. Great experience. Sold out hockey game. Will come back again
Great game, great seats, great beer (a little overkill on price of beer) .....
From the VIP tour of the Bell Centre to the atmosphere and energy of the fans the experience was amazing and I can’t wait to do it all over again ❤️
Excellente expérience entre amis, l’ambiance fut incroyable!
No arena compares. Great energy, great game, great time.
Just a fantastic atmosphere and really fun experience at the Bell Centre!!! Plus......the Habs won.
It was an exceptional experience as the Canadiens won all games with an awesome atmosphere in the building. The best NHL venue to watch a game.
Such a great and affordable place to watch hockey 🏒. The only issue was my seats had an impleaded view and I was very disappointed based on no indication of that in the sale of the ticket or the price
Great comeback the best Atmosphere as always And the entertainment at centre bell is always the best in the NHL
First Habs game of my son, it was amazing! A night I'll remember all my life!
First time seeing my team (Colorado) live. Conveniently beat Montreal in a shootout on a Saturday night in front of a sold out crowd. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. 2nd NHL game ever, wish I lived closer because I'd be back for more.
Amazing hockey game, what a show it was, unfortunately my Habs lost in a shootout. An amazing night at the Bell Center, tickets a bit pricey for the location I was,but I always return every year,
Had a great time at Habs v Sens. Crowd was wild, amazing atmosphere!
March 18th, 2025. Montreal 6, Ottawa 3. Montreal came back from trailing 3-1, got back in the playoffs race. Crowd was amazing. Best NHL hockey crowd. The venue is perfect, staff is very nice and helpful, concessions just right. The new Jumbotron is awesome. The DJ rocks. Crowd animation is less childish than before which is great. Loved it !
Three Days Grace was better than expected. Disturbed always great!
La partie fut enlevante et l'atmosphère électrisante au Centre Bell en battant les Sénateurs!
