About

In 2008, both Sub Pop and Mudhoney celebrated their 20th anniversaries. Sub Pop could think of no better way to do so than by putting out as many Mudhoney records as possible. So, in the past 18 months, Subpop has released a new Mudhoney album called The Lucky Ones the deluxe, remastered edition of Superfuzz Bigmuff, and recently, the vinyl reissue of Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge.

As Jay Hinman says in the liner notes for the deluxed-up Superfuzz: "My feeling-and I know I'm not alone in this one-is that for all the play and worldwide attention several Seattle-area bands got during the 1988-92 period, at the end of the day (and even at the time), there was Mudhoney-and then there was everybody else. To me, you, and most everyone who was paying close attention to underground rock music during those years, Mudhoney still sound like the undisputed kingpins of roaring, surging, fuzzed-out, punk rock music. Mudhoney very interesting band!!

by byteme on 2011-09-12The Horseshoe Tavern - Toronto

I have to say that I was very impressed with this band by their sound extremely distinctive and their impressive stage presence. Their performance was flawless energy level was high and they looked like they were having a great time. The crowd from what I saw were fans of the band which made the evening very enjoyable! Truly a band I would recommend seeing if you haven't had the pleasure!!

    Pretty damn awesome

by KEric on 2011-09-12The Horseshoe Tavern - Toronto

I've never been to a venue as intimate as the horseshoe tavern, or seen a show as punkish as Mudhoney, but both were awesome changes to the norm, the crowd was nuts, and the band just got it going even more, I would highly recommend to anyone who loves loud music and getting a little rough at shows.

    Mudhoney was stunning

by moresthepity on 2010-03-15The Starlite Room - Edmonton

The Starlight Room isn't exactly reknowned for great sound, but Mudhoney was scary sharp. I have never heard their howling shrieks and screaming guitars with such clarity before! I've been lucky enough to catch them many times over the years, going back to the eighties, and they have never sounded so good before. But that was only one part of the show! The proverbial wall of noise smacked you in the face with such power, force, and skill that it just made your head spin! I hadn't seen them in damn near 20 years, and I wasn't too sure if I wanted to have my memories of them destroyed by a half assed performance that would make you think that you were at a Stones show. But man! The on stage energy they displayed just had to grab you by the goolies. It was all like a bizarrely twisted mix of Iggy, The Buzzcocks, with Dave Brubeck timing skill all mushed together and sent off on a seriously screwed up acid trip! The only two problems that I had with the show were the other people that were there. The bone head kids who had obviously never heard anything beyond their last two albums, and gave a "huh?" response to extended versions of "Here Comes Sickness" and "Suck You Dry", and just completely missed who the intro to "You Stupid Asshole" was directed at. The other thing was the half cut Yuppie trying WAAAYY to hard to be cool in front of his boy and just wouldn't stop screaming "Play the song from Singles!" even after they had played it. Oiy

Great show! They still have it! Sound was great and so was energy from both the band and the crowd. It was like being back in 1991!!!

Great venue, nice intimate show you could really feel the positive energy in the room. Opening acts were weak except the guitarist on the second act, you shined!
