About

Mumford & Sons have catapulted to stardom with their captivating mix of bluegrass, country and rock, enchanting audiences with their soaring harmonies and catchy pop melodies. The English folk rock band’s second album Babel was released in September 2012, debuted at No. 1 in the U.K. and U.S. with the hit single “I Will Wait.” The album also took home the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and in 2013 the band won the Brit Award for Best British Group. The band consists of Ted Dwane on vocals, string bass, drums, and guitar; Ben Lovett on vocals, keyboards, accordion, and drums; and Marcus Mumford on lead vocals, guitar, drums, and mandolin. They formed in late 2007 in West London, and put out two EPs in 2008, Love Your Ground and a self-titled effort. Those EPs garnered interest in the U.K. and the U.S. and led to opening slots on tour with Laura Marling and Johnny Flynn. Mumford & Sons’ debut studio album, Sigh No More, was released in late 2009 in the UK and early 2010 in the U.S., peaking at No. 2 on both the U.K. Albums and Billboard 200 charts. The album sold over three million copies in the U.S. alone on the strength of hit singles “The Cave,” “Little Lion Man” and “Winter Winds.” They also earned two Grammy Award nominations, one for Best New Artist and the other for Best Rock Song for “Little Lion Man,” and won the Brit Award in 2011 for Best British Album. A worldwide headlining tour followed with the likes of Fanfarlo and The Middle East. Mumford & Sons released their fifth studio album Rushmere on March 28, 2025, and will support it with their 2025 North American Tour that kicks off in June.

  • GREAT concert - venue not so much

by vtown on 2010-11-15Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Mumford and Sons puts on a GREAT concert. Everyone enjoyed it! They played the majority of the songs from Sigh No More, plus a few more that are coming up on the new album. The venue (the Sound Academy) wasn't the best... it felt like they over sold the tickets, although it was great that it was packed, the feeling of not being able to move was a bit deterring from the concert itself.

Mumford & Sons was amazing. Venue was very packed though.

Mumford & Sons at the Sound Academy were incredible! It's the best show I have ever seen. These guys are so talented and have so much energy, they really got the crowd going. You have to see this band live! Please come back to Toronto soon!!

  • The Best Show I've Ever Been To! Hands Down!!

by PaulJW on 2010-06-03560 Club - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Every moment from the second they walked onto stage to the moment they stepped off was amazing, breathtaking, inspiring, and unforgettable. I didn't think they could produce the same sound from the album, much less improve upon it, but they did- especially Marcus' voice. I will eagerly be awaiting their next show in the area.

  • Mumford had fun and so did we

by gemjammer on 2010-06-02560 Club - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I fear the next time I see this band it won't be as intimate they will be so massive. You could just feel they were having the best time entertaining us and the crowd responded well, even for Vancouver. It doesn't hurt either that the eye candy factor was high indeed mmmmm cute! We waited until 10.45 to see them and with doors at 8pm it was quite the wait, but it didn't matter one bit. They rocked so amazingly. Great venue, nice to have a new place in town. Commodore next time guys, don't do a stadium gig just yet please.

This was an excellent show. Great venue as well. I was right up front, and it was an amazing experience. Their interaction with the band was really good The opening band was great. The Middle East from Australia. Great vocals and sound.

  • Great band at a sweet new club

by AndrewLePatourel on 2010-06-01560 Club - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

A truly excellent performance, lots of power yet losing none of Mumford & sons pride and bright message. The middle east also played an excellent set and I'll be sure to check them out! Vancouver's latest club didn't disapoint either, bars everewhere and $6 beers are not to be sneezed at. The camera used to feed the upstairs projector was of poor quality and had about a half second delay.

Fantastic show!! One of the best I've seen in a long time

  • Mumford rocks live!

    by Deedee007 on 2010-05-31560 Club - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

This show was fantastic! They sound incredible live! It was shorter than I had expected though...could have listened all night! I took a friend that was not familiar with their music and he was blown away at their talent! His exact words were " next time they come it will be a GM Place. They are going to blow up here!"

  • Great live!

by SwitchyRascal on 2010-05-31560 Club - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

The band was fantastic live. They looked like they were having so much fun up there. Great to watch. The venue was questionable, though.

  • The whole crowd was one!

by Kaylinf on 2010-05-31560 Club - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Mumford and Sons put on the show of a lifetime- it didn't matter where you were standing, you felt like you were right on stage with them. The only downside was that the show started super late, and being a Sunday, I am guessing a lot of people called in sick to work the next day.

  • Mumford Magnifique

by buckyG on 2010-05-31560 Club - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Excellant show with very good sound for Mumford, but sadly the sound mix for The Middle East was not up to the standard of their performance. Good appreciative crowd and the boys put on a great show. Wish they could have played longer though.

  • by jennyt3d on 2010-05-31560 Club - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Mumford & Sons at the 560 Club was hands down one of the best shows I have ever seen. All of the boys are so talented and their energy during their performance spread throughout the audience. I love how they covered a Neil Young song and they thought that it might be blasphemy. They were wonderful and they are a band that will continue for awhile!

  • sold out show well worth the lineup

by cheekymonkey on 2010-05-31560 Club - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

After waiting in the rain sprinkled line up for quite some time, mumford and sons was just the thing to warm us back up. The sound was great , the vocals were bang on and the energy was perfect. Check them out!

Hands down the best live performance I've ever witnessed! I already felt strongly about this band - but seeing them live just sealed the deal for me. They are all incredibly talented musicians. The whole concert had such a warm and laidback vibe. The fact that they all stand in the same area instead of being spread out across different parts of the stage had such a lovely effect. Their music is simple yet incredibly complex - filled with different instruments and sounds. They are all so extremely passionate and their energy was electric! Incredibly talented musicians and songwriters.. They delivered a killer live show!

  • Best Show Ever

Best live show I've ever seen. Great performers!!!

  • INCREDIBLE

by thefourthlegacy on 2010-02-16Lee's Palace - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Living in Winnipeg, sometimes the bands I really want to see pass over us and go to bigger cities, but when I heard the almighty Mumford and Sons were coming to Canada, it didn't matter - two very early flights and several hundred dollars later I found myself in Toronto for one of the most incredible shows I've ever seen. I was so happy the entire crowd knew the words despite the fact their wonderful album isn't even out here yet! I hope everyone had done what I did and invested in shipping it over from the UK. Heart-wrenching lyrics combined with killer melodies, foot stomping kick drums and one of the most genuine, sincere and lovely bands I've had the fortune to see live made it one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen, and I hope they continue to take the world by storm. Such soul and passion and raw talent is rare these days, and these guys deserve nothing but incredible success and admiration for what they bring to the stage.

  • Mumford and Sons put on a high energy show.

by Stubert on 2010-02-16Lee's Palace - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Mumford and sons, a British import rock-folk band, put on a fun, high energy show that inspired crazy audience interaction and the loudest cheering for an encore that I have ever heard. They played songs form there debut album, just released, but also a few 'untitled' songs that have yet to hear the sound of day. It is great to see a band that is enjoying themselves, and they were having a great time. The opening band, The Sunparlor Players, were also a huge hit with there folk-rock dirty base driven music. Their final song had the lead singer red faced, sweating and winding the crowd into massive applause, giving the audience one hell of a finale. Opening bands can be hit or miss this was a huge hit. To be different they not only sold there album(on both CD and Vinyl) but also sold homemade preserves. I proudly claimed the last 'handsome strong mustard'. Overall this show was amazing and since it was one of there only shows in Canada on the audience received a rare treat. If they return to Toronto make sure you have tickets because next time they will be selling out quickly.
