About

Mumford & Sons have catapulted to stardom with their captivating mix of bluegrass, country and rock, enchanting audiences with their soaring harmonies and catchy pop melodies. The English folk rock band’s second album Babel was released in September 2012, debuted at No. 1 in the U.K. and U.S. with the hit single “I Will Wait.” The album also took home the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and in 2013 the band won the Brit Award for Best British Group. The band consists of Ted Dwane on vocals, string bass, drums, and guitar; Ben Lovett on vocals, keyboards, accordion, and drums; and Marcus Mumford on lead vocals, guitar, drums, and mandolin. They formed in late 2007 in West London, and put out two EPs in 2008, Love Your Ground and a self-titled effort. Those EPs garnered interest in the U.K. and the U.S. and led to opening slots on tour with Laura Marling and Johnny Flynn. Mumford & Sons’ debut studio album, Sigh No More, was released in late 2009 in the UK and early 2010 in the U.S., peaking at No. 2 on both the U.K. Albums and Billboard 200 charts. The album sold over three million copies in the U.S. alone on the strength of hit singles “The Cave,” “Little Lion Man” and “Winter Winds.” They also earned two Grammy Award nominations, one for Best New Artist and the other for Best Rock Song for “Little Lion Man,” and won the Brit Award in 2011 for Best British Album. A worldwide headlining tour followed with the likes of Fanfarlo and The Middle East. Mumford & Sons released their fifth studio album Rushmere on March 28, 2025, and will support it with their 2025 North American Tour that kicks off in June.

This was the best concert I have ever been to. They made you feel like you were watching them play a small gig even though it was a huge arena. The music they played was amazing and they made you feel like you were with the band. The audience was into it from the start and it made it amazing. They were better live than on their cd!

  • Wow!

What an amazing show. The energy of this band is something you don't see every day and the talent is unbelievable! Great audience interaction too. And what a humble group of guys. They were just as excited to be there as we were---will definitely see them again!

  • Brilliant British Musicians

by vtain on 2011-10-26Air Canada Centre - Toronto, OntarioRating: 5 out of 5

The amount of talent these gentleman have is just incredible! Going into the show I thought it would be a boring show, to my surpise the amount of energy coming off the stag was so powerful. You couldn't help tapping your foot to the good old fashion sound of british folk rock. They are the type of band that sounds so much better live then on CD. They were very interactive with the crowed. We had great seats. Side stage 4th row. Perfect view. They are a very well dressed band. I would 100% see Mumford and Sons again and again. I can not wait for the new album to come out.

One of the most breath-taking, life affirming shows I've ever been to. The Sons put their entire heart and soul into their performance, and you feel as if you are witnessing something truly extraordinary when at one of their shows. They connect with each person in the audience with their music, and you come away wanting to live your own life better for what you've just seen and heard...

  • Mumford rocks but venue needs work.

by dryfhout on 2010-11-17Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Mumford was excellent and I enjoyed openers Cadillac Sky and King Charles. I had VIP tickets which was great for several reasons. Got to go to the front of the line. The area up top at The Sound Academy was spacious and nice. Free water and pizza later in the evening. Issues 1. The merch table only allowed one person up at a time, this created a huge line at all times. No way this was more efficient or effective. People crowding around with multiple staff dealing with orders is part of the live show experience. I didn't even go to the merch table because there was no way I was standing in that line. 2. The sound in the VIP section was crap. The seats were crappy too, but that wouldn't have mattered if the sound was the way it should be. Part of what I looked so forward to was Mumford's moments where everyone is in and they have such a full all-encompassing sound. Not in the VIP. We could here chatting and needed to block out distractions to listen to the band. AT A LIVE SHOW!! I wanted to get lost in the music, and that wasn't possible. They need serious additional speakers/surround sound up in the VIP seating area. It was disappointing because the bands rocked it!!

  • Mumford & Sons were EPIC!

by Anonymous on 2010-11-15Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Never before have I been to such a captivating concert! The venue (Sound Academy) was just the right size. The crowd was full of energy. And the band...oh the band!!! They sounded amazing! I thought I loved them before! I am anticipating the new album, and look forward to seeing them live again.

  • words can't describe it!

this was by far the best concert i have ever been to. an amazingly powerful performance by the band that was only matched by the enthusiasm of the crowd. i have never seen/heard such an appreciation of a band from an audience as i did at this concert. it seemed as if every fan in the audience was singing to each and every song with everything they had! mumford and sons truly have a huge following here in canada, with more than just reasoning!!

  • by LiaP on 2010-11-15Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Mumford and Sons was an amazing show!! The band sounded fantastic, drinks weren't too expensive, and the crowd was really into it. Such a great performance. Only problem... I could barely see the band...

  • by Anonymous on 2010-11-15Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Last week I posted my review that Florence + the Machine was the best show I had seen. I take that back. Mumford + Sons managed to surpass that. Reason being is not only was the quality beyond perfection, but the entire crowd was into it. Everyone there was there because they loved the band and the music. I felt like at Florence it was split between true fans and people who had heard "Dog Days" on the radio and thought they would check it out. Mumford manages to create music that feels 'real'...incorporating a blend of instruments that is refreshing and unique. If you cannot get tickets right off the bat, I promise spending the extra bucks to get your hands on one is worth it.

  • Excellent!
