About

Mumford & Sons have catapulted to stardom with their captivating mix of bluegrass, country and rock, enchanting audiences with their soaring harmonies and catchy pop melodies. The English folk rock band’s second album Babel was released in September 2012, debuted at No. 1 in the U.K. and U.S. with the hit single “I Will Wait.” The album also took home the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and in 2013 the band won the Brit Award for Best British Group. The band consists of Ted Dwane on vocals, string bass, drums, and guitar; Ben Lovett on vocals, keyboards, accordion, and drums; and Marcus Mumford on lead vocals, guitar, drums, and mandolin. They formed in late 2007 in West London, and put out two EPs in 2008, Love Your Ground and a self-titled effort. Those EPs garnered interest in the U.K. and the U.S. and led to opening slots on tour with Laura Marling and Johnny Flynn. Mumford & Sons’ debut studio album, Sigh No More, was released in late 2009 in the UK and early 2010 in the U.S., peaking at No. 2 on both the U.K. Albums and Billboard 200 charts. The album sold over three million copies in the U.S. alone on the strength of hit singles “The Cave,” “Little Lion Man” and “Winter Winds.” They also earned two Grammy Award nominations, one for Best New Artist and the other for Best Rock Song for “Little Lion Man,” and won the Brit Award in 2011 for Best British Album. A worldwide headlining tour followed with the likes of Fanfarlo and The Middle East. Mumford & Sons released their fifth studio album Rushmere on March 28, 2025, and will support it with their 2025 North American Tour that kicks off in June.

This concert was my first mumford concert and was amazing! The town of Niagara on the Lake handled the large crowd so well. Venue was perfect, lots of food vendors and beer.

  • Mumford - A Solid B+ Experience

by MarekSchnyetz on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 4 out of 5

First the town, Niagara-On-The-Lake (NOTL) is a quiet community - mostly wealthy, older (retirement/pre-retirement). It's a theatre town (Shaw Festival) in the heart of Ontario's traditional wine country. It's historical with lots of significance in early settling, war of 1812 etc. The town is postcard picturesque with lots of old shops and inns and flowers. Unlike the GOTR stopover in Simcoe, the NOTL community did not really embrace the concert event. In Simcoe, the town closed its streets and held a party, with shopkeepers getting involved selling their own custom merch and embracing the GOTR festival atmosphere. Not so in NOTL. There was no acknowledgement of the concert in any downtown shops. We had an early dinner at a popular downtown restaurant and had to rush the service a bit as they were unaware that a concert has happening in town. Yet the location (Butler's Barracks) was a great venue in that it was an 8 minute walk from the downtown core of the town and spacious enough to accommodate the outdoor grass-ground level concert. Typical Mumford set-up with huge stage, standing room only for first half, blanket-sitting older crowd in the middle and food stations, merch, and porta-potties in the rear. Lots of fluid crowd movement back throughout the fenced grounds. After opening acts, Mumford set started with Lover's Eyes, then I Will Wait, and continued with a good mix of old stuff with a healthy dose of new Wilder Mind tracks. Marcus is getting more comfortable with the jokey banter in-between songs with the audience but still minimal. Set ended with Little Lion Man and The Wolf. Solid performance with good sound and energy. I miss the energy of the GOTR stopover feeling from Simcoe but as a one-off concert, it was still a good performance. The highlight was probably The Cave which really got the crowd going and Below My Feet (a track to experience live). I question playing the quieter stuff but that's a band's prerogative I guess. Concert lights and big screens were good. But nothing theatrical. Leaving the venue was a challenge with muddy walkways/paths and zero lighting. The park is a historical site, not an actual park, so it wasn't lit and I'm surprised more people didn't trip or stumble on the long walk around the fencing to exit the area. Parking lots were full with cars parking on nearby baseball diamonds - but plenty of ushers/volunteers to assist. One bizarre thing is that people could sit on their cars parked on the road and see the stage with a pretty clear view. There were residents who set up some lawn chairs too on the grass around the fenced area where they could hear and even catch some of the stage too in their site lines. I have to remember that if I don't want to pay the ticket price and still experience the concert. Haha. Pretty tame crowd - lots of pot smell but little seen. Lots of 30+ yuppies. Many 50+ too which surprised me. Overall, for an outdoor concert, it was a pretty decent setup which I probably would have enjoyed more if I wasn't spoiled with an awesome time at the GOTR-Simcoe Stopover - which was an altogether special beast.

  • AMAZING EVERY TIME

by Geegeee on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 5 out of 5

This is the third time I've seen Mumford & Sons and they still have yet to cease to impress. From Marcus Mumford being hilarious and charming the audience between songs, to the performances themselves. The energy and fun that they bring on top of their enormous talent is astonishing. They always play long sets and this time was no different, old stuff, really old stuff, and new stuff. I love that they all switch instruments- it makes them diverse in more than one way

The show was amazing! The clouds went away and the rain held off for the concert. I had seen Mumford and Sons before but this show was the best one yet!

by Hesi on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 5 out of 5

Mumford and Sons put on the most enjoyable and unforgettable concert you could ever have the pleasure of seeing. I would highly recommend going to see them but that would mean more competition to get into the next concert. Meeting these guys is top 5 on my bucket list, amazing band.

  • Love the field :)

by EndoftheAisle on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 4 out of 5

Always love a good on-the-grass concert! However, the TV monitors were WAY too low! We could barely see the when we were standing up, let alone while we sat and enjoyed the music... There were a lot of smokers at this concert, where we felt that we couldn't enjoy the setting as much because we were always trying to find a spot without smoke in our faces. We also felt that the band skipped a couple of key songs... Overall, they did a phenomenal job performing in a fantastic location.

What an unbelievable show! Great tunes, great atmosphere, and a band that truly seemed to be having a good time on stage. Can't wait until the next time they're in the area!

  • Great show, not enough water

by AliMo on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 4 out of 5

Mumford and sons were absolutely amazing! Wish I would have known at the time of purchase just how big the event was going to be. I had no idea that 30,000 people would be attending. There weren't water refill stations that we could find, which was very inconvenient searching through the sea of 30,000. Overall good show, but too many people for my liking.

  • Mumford and Sons were the best ever!!!

by slipcovers on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best concert ever! I love Mumford and Sons so much! I wanted to go to their secret concert in Toronto, but wasn't quick enough to get tickets. Then I was going to try to get tickets for the concert in New Jersey, until I heard they were coming to my town!!! I was so excited!!! They played a mixture of old and new, and it was amazing! Would go see them again in a heartbeat.

  • Mumford & Sons was incredible - Parking...

by Chiovitti on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 5 out of 5

The show was incredible. The band was out of this world, it was just leaving the parking lot was terrible.

  • by Haha42 on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 5 out of 5

The show was incredible. 30,000 people in a field with Mumford and Sons serenading us magic happened.

  • by lplp on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 5 out of 5

The entire show was amazing, from Son Little, to the Maccabees to the incredible Mumford and Sons. Second time seeing them and continue to be amazing live.

  • Absolutely Amazing!!

by Aquadung on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 5 out of 5

Mumford & Sons really are what I would call true performers! Very few bands/musicians sound better live but I can honestly say that they do. Not only are their voices amazing live, but they are so versatile with all of the instruments that they play and they will keep you laughing throughout the show. This is one of the best concerts that I have ever been to and I would not hesitate to see them again!

  • Best Live Performance of the Summer

    by Mumfordfan25416 on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 5 out of 5

Although the location was not ideal (2 hours outside of Toronto in Niagara) the layout of the venue was perfect for the type of show performed. The acoustics would not have been nearly as good if performed at a venue like the ACC. The only downfall was that none of the ATM/debit machines were working. The music itself was phenomenal, playing classic songs from their old album and their new album. Great crowd. Great Energy. Great Music. Highly recommend!

  • Concert Beyond Excellent....Parking pathetic!

by DadDaughter on 2015-06-18The Commons at Butler's Barracks National Historic Site - Niagara-on-the-LakeRating: 5 out of 5

My daughter and I attended and had a fantastic time right up until we tried to leave. Mumford and Sons put on a lively and exciting show....the venue made the outdoor concert even better (especially since it did not rain). Lots of security, food, beverages and washroom amenities....way to go to organize for so many people. The parking....wow...whomever thought that through should never be put in charge again. 3 hours it took to get out. My compliments to other people in the crowd who were stuck with us for keeping a level calm....it was not easy I know. Also, thank you to the Police who made a terrible situation better by keeping people moving as much as they were able.
