Nashville Predators History

The Predators joined the NHL in 1998 during a two-year expansion that saw the League add the Atlanta Thrashers, Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild. The team made its first trip to the Playoffs during the 2003-04 season, and proceeded to make the postseason six of the next seven seasons. Nashville won its first Playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks in 2011, and returned to the second round again the following spring.

Two seasons later, with Peter Laviolette as Head Coach, Nashville began their four-year run as a Stanley Cup contender. With P.K. Subban arriving ahead of the 2016-17 season to anchor the defense, the Preds upset the Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks in consecutive Playoff series to reach the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. That streak had two distinctions: It was the first time a No. 8 seed knocked out a top seed (the Blackhawks) and the Predators became the first team in two decades to win 10 consecutive home Playoff games.

Facing the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup Final, the Preds lost the first two games before storming back to take Games 3 and 4. After a decisive Pittsburgh home victory, the Penguins prevailed 2-0 in Game 6, with both goals coming in the final two minutes.

Filip Forsberg, who re-signed with the team for eight seasons in July 2022, is the Predators all-time leading scorer. Roman Josi, Pekka Rinne, Mike Fisher and Steve Sullivan have all won NHL awards, while Josi, Rinne and former captain Shea Weber have the distinction of being NHL First-Team All-Stars for the club. The Nashville Predators have made the Playoffs 15 times in their 24 seasons.

    Fun Event

by prairieboy1 on 2017-11-26Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

Really wanted to go to a game at Bridgestone Arena since watching the playoffs on TV last year. It looked like a great place to be with a lot of fun. We were not disappointed! The fans are really into cheering for the home town Preds. Lots of chanting/jeering/heckling of the opposition players. A tough place to play in.:) and a fun place to be. We were cheering for the Habs but never felt threatened in any way. Lots of good natured kidding about teams. Although no one in our sections or the sections nearby seemed to be as excited about Montreal scoring as me.:) The action never stops. Great music during breaks and a live band during the intermission. Fun and entertaining "turkey bowling" between periods. Food and drink were reasonably priced. All the ushers workers etc were very friendly and helpful. I think wearing the other teams jersey may have even had them help us and talk to us more than the regular fans. It was nice to have the friendliness. I am so glad we came. Hope to come again. Maybe can cheer for the Preds next time.

    Jets in Nashville

by Better on 2017-11-23Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

The Bridgestone is a great arena with good sight lines and amenities. Too bad our hockey team didn’t show up for the game but a good experience nevertheless. The downtown area around the arena makes the whole experience that much better!

    Great fun! Great Value

by Izzy15 on 2017-01-06Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

We went to see PK Subban play against his former team mates. Although, PK was out with an injury, we had a great time. They do much to engage the crowd. It was so much fun. There is an electricity in the arena. The atmosphere in the hockey arena was infectious. Can't wait to return to this amazing venue to see another hockey game.

    Canadians should take this advantage

by Beerguyrob on 2016-05-14Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

Thanks to almost losing the team, Nashville now has a passionate hockey base, and sitting among them in the 300s is no different than sitting in any Canadian arena. Except for the price - I would say seats are half what they cost up north, including exchange rate. It was great value for the dollar spent. And the bar scene on Broadway after is better than most towns could dream of having right next door.

    Good game

by Paddy on 2016-03-04Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

It was a good game, and I was happy that Nashville won. However, I found the fan cheering rather negative and disgusting. You should be congratulating your team when they score, rather than denigrating the opposing team. To yell "You suck!" and "It's all your fault" sounds like poor sportsmanship to me. We were at a game in Nashville last year, and I honestly don't remember the fans reacting like that. A goal scored is a reason for celebration, not bad-mouthing the other team. Will not attend again if that does not change.

    Seat Poachers

by RossM on 2016-02-23Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

This was was my third attendance at a Predators game. I travel all the way there from Saskatchewan Canada and it is definitely worth the time and cost. I was sitting in expensive seats and there were a few seats unoccupied near me. They stayed unoccupied until the middle of the second period when the usher disappeared and in came the seat poachers. At the beginning of the third period a lady near me asked another usher if these people where allowed to sit there. This usher asked the poachers to move and then both ushers disappeared again. In 5 minutes the poachers where back. This should not be allowed. Keep the ushers on the job until at least the 10 minute mark of the third period.

The seats were great! The seats were the worst!

by nenaqu on 2015-03-27Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

This is a review about the arena and not the event. I'll just say that the game was great. I had tickets for section 115, row mm. Couldn't ask for better seats. Close to action, but still get a good view of the areas of the ice, that is can see down into the corners. So these were great seats for watching the game. But the seats themselves were horrible. I guess this section/area of seating are the "removable" seats, so they're not fixed. This means that if someone at the end of the row decide to lean back the whole row moves back with him or if someone 5 seats down has restless legs the whole row of seats begins to vibrate and shake along with him. So if you tend to suffer from motion sickness, I recommend avoiding these seats.

Great atmosphere. Doing a good job of selling hockey in the Midwest. Fans have energy and some fun rituals. As a Canadian it was a fun time.

A Jet fan amongst Predators was great

by Mccocin on 2015-02-15Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

Travelled from Winnipeg to Nashville to watch the Jets play. The Predator fans were great. We wore our Jets gear and were treated like family visiting for the first time. Was a little surprised at how many empty seats there were for the first place Predators. The Bridgestone arena is a good venue but there weren't any cup holders, at least not in our row (EE). Would definitely go again.

Fans of the Predators have a cult like feel!

by Shmare on 2015-02-08Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

The Predator fans were very aggressive and did not welcome fans from other teams. The "you suck" chant after every goal was disturbing. Fans we sat around we're not friendly and made you feel uncomfortable. Think twice before you wear your jersey for the opposing team. Arena was cold in temperature, you definitely need to wear a coat in there. All camera shots in the arena were only of Pred fans.
