Nashville Predators History

The Predators joined the NHL in 1998 during a two-year expansion that saw the League add the Atlanta Thrashers, Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild. The team made its first trip to the Playoffs during the 2003-04 season, and proceeded to make the postseason six of the next seven seasons. Nashville won its first Playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks in 2011, and returned to the second round again the following spring.

Two seasons later, with Peter Laviolette as Head Coach, Nashville began their four-year run as a Stanley Cup contender. With P.K. Subban arriving ahead of the 2016-17 season to anchor the defense, the Preds upset the Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks in consecutive Playoff series to reach the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. That streak had two distinctions: It was the first time a No. 8 seed knocked out a top seed (the Blackhawks) and the Predators became the first team in two decades to win 10 consecutive home Playoff games.

Facing the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup Final, the Preds lost the first two games before storming back to take Games 3 and 4. After a decisive Pittsburgh home victory, the Penguins prevailed 2-0 in Game 6, with both goals coming in the final two minutes.

Filip Forsberg, who re-signed with the team for eight seasons in July 2022, is the Predators all-time leading scorer. Roman Josi, Pekka Rinne, Mike Fisher and Steve Sullivan have all won NHL awards, while Josi, Rinne and former captain Shea Weber have the distinction of being NHL First-Team All-Stars for the club. The Nashville Predators have made the Playoffs 15 times in their 24 seasons.

Most boring hockey game I ever saw. Until Nashville gets some players with energy they do not deserve fan support. Stadium is beautiful

Preds Fans Are Lots of Fun!

by NovaScotianFan on 2013-04-07Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

My wife and I are diehard hockey fans, we watch a LOT of hockey (being Canadians!), and know the game inside / out. We had a blast at the game, the game itself wasn't very stimulating, but the whole Preds package is based on fun, the fans are awesome, so glad we came.

    Friendliest people, ever!

by emLe on 2012-06-11Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

This was not our first Nashville game, and it was another fantastic trip. Worth the 12h drive from Southern Ontario to see a 2nd round playoff game for the cost of 300s at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The staff at the event were so friendly, the pregame festivities were fun, the giveaway tshirt was a nice touch, and we had several opportunities to have our photo taken and emailed to us (free!). They know how to do it up right in Nashville. This venue is LOUD - a terrific atmosphere. Live music between periods, as a band plays on the stage built above the zamboni entrance. Sadly, we did not have Vince Gill or Carrie Underwood for our game (they were at the game previous).

    Bridgestone Rocks !!

by Honkytonk on 2012-01-03Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

We had a Awesome time. There was a live band outside the venue playing before the game, infact there was live music everywhere. The citizens of this great town treated us very well. The arena is huge and the fans were loud. We were out numbered what seemed like 16,000 to 20, but the Predator fans were courteous and friendy to us. We would go back in a heartbeat.

    Wow great people!

by Plekybaby on 2011-11-15Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

I would start by telling you that I was a bit anxious to go that far to see a Habs game as of I had bad experiences in the past. Some fans are vicious, violent etc.. You can imagine my anguish when entering the premises of the arena! Woooo what a big surprise! I couldnt be further from the truth!!!! Courtesy, sportsmanship.. and many other words to describe Nashville's fans. They could give lessons of politeness to many fans.. even to some Habs fans. Anyway, it was a great game, a great environment, great seat and we won ^_^. I would go back if it wasnt that far... Well, maybe I will, who knows!

    Poor showing by both teams

Maybe if Mike Fisher had been playing they would have had more momentum.

    Great venue for hockey

by Hanker on 2011-03-31Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

The Bridgestone Arena is a great place to watch hockey....In between periods there was live music being played in the endzone seat which was fantastic, and the action on the ice was fast and tenacious....would recommend this venue to anyone...

Good Venue for a Hockey Game

by vlaz on 2010-12-01Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

Neither team played well on this night, but the Predators goalie was excellent. The venue is basic but nice, very clean and the fans make this a fun place to watch a hockey game with their chants. We had a blast and would go again when we are in the area.

    Great venue, great match.

by MTGraves on 2010-06-13Bridgestone Arena Nashville Predators - Nashville

The Pred's arena is in a great location, right where the nightlife is. We travelled from the UK to watch the Leafs match and it was well worth the visit. Great town.
