Loved it ! Loud and chaotic......everything was so well done! The references to gothic style decor with modern fashion twists. Amazing !
It was superb. The dancing, costumes, and stage settings that changed so many times and so skillfully manage. It was all quite amazing. It was opening night in Ottawa and the whole event went off without a hitch (as far as I could see).
This play was wonderful. The emotions were captured through dance and the music and it was very enjoyable to watch. I wish it was playing for longer!
Really beautful ballett! thoroughly enjoyed it, the dancers were just fabulous!
If you haven't seen Romeo & Juliet for some time, you absolutely need to see the love story told through the art of dance. Opening night at the NAC was incredible! The dancers were exquisite and their movements graceful and flawless. Prokofiev's R & J is intense and emotional and the choreographer matches the music wonderfully. At different times throughout the show I found myself laughing, welling up with tears and getting goosebumps from the intensity and perfect portrayal of this tragic love story. It is a must see! An absolute delight! :)
This was my second time to a ballet. I have to say it was the best !! The contemporary ballet was fantastic, magical and masterful!!!
I am not a fan of modern music, however this was extrodinary. The quality of the dancers was tops and I even forgot I did not like the music. Great show!
I took my seven year old granddaughter to the Sunday matinee performance. It was her first professional ballet experience. The performers were technically quite good but I found the overall performance repeatedly slow moving and perhaps a bit too artistically presented even for myself. There were quite a few younger girls in the audience and I wondered if the performance was a bit boring for them. Also found it strange to have two intermissions in a two hour production. Perhaps more suited to adults.
I knew it was going to be the 'new' dance mode, not classical, and thought it would be dynamic and exciting. No ...unfortunately, after 10 minutes of the first dance,it became completely boring and uninspiring for me. There was no scenery at all, just a plain backdrop. The costumes were dull. The music uninspiring. I left after 'hanging on' through the first 3 dances. I didn't feel this lived up to our National Ballet Company's talented history and certainly wasn't cause to celebrate 60 years.
Wonderful! From the pre performance talk with Karen Kain to the stunning range of ballet expression. Each piece was presented in such a way to stretch the imagination and showcase the dancers skill and form and artistry.
It was one of best performances I have seen in recent years,I hope in future we can have such amazing programs.
Don't miss this, each piece was unique, dynamic and danced with intention and physicality.
not worth it. no live music, no costume, like rehearse. especially that four dancers walking and guitar singing , waste the audience's time. why is called ballet?
This was a wonderful evening starting with a Forsythe work for the contemporary purist but intriguing and well done. Then a classical Pas de deux by Jerome Robbins to music by Chopin to remind you of the beauty of classical ballet. The highlight for me was "The Man in Black",Johnny Cash singing six songs while three men and one female dancer did a very gentle send up of country and Western dance[note the grunge skirt},the choreography by James Kudelka was outstanding and poetry in motion. Finally, "Emergence",a fascinating portrait of the insect world by the full company, exciting music and the female dancers were more menacing than the men!
I loved this show. It was fresh, exhilarating and highly original. The Johnny Cash tribute was my favorite and the Emergence piece was very well choreographed! Bravi!
wonderful!!! This is short because I don't speak or write English very well. I'm brasilian. I like so much the introduction! Thanks.
