    Nelly is full of Energy!

by CK99 on 2013-01-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Nelly's concert was full of energy and fun. She played a broad selection of songs from her various albums that included all the hits I wanted to hear. Their were a few fun surprises in show as well that I will not spoil here, but it was definitely worth going to and I will go again next time she is in town!

    Amazing Talent!

by LuluB on 2013-01-20Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Loved everything about the show! Forgot how ecclectic she is... So talented! Loved how the energy built up throughout the program. Only downside was there were a couple of songs where the music overpowered the vocals and if you didnt know a song you could not make out the words to the song..... Otherwise it was near perfection!

Despite being a big fan, Furtado was forgetable

by DrTeacher on 2013-01-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

After experiencing nearly 2.5 hours of Blue Rodeo a week ago I was (perhaps unfairly) expecting more and profoundly disappointed with my Furtado experience. While I understand that young Canadian talent needs to be nurtured, first opening act was a huge disappointment. The second act was better - more polished and the songs were more developed. But still two opening acts and then another break- frick!!! As for Furtado herself, her interaction with the crowd was cold and aloof at the start and began to get friendlier about mid -set. She needs to decide what he genre is! Is she a Madona cover artist or is she a Canadian singer/songwriter with a large and proud catalog? There is no denying the power in her voice and the charisma she can harness! Why was is so hard to hear her true talents with a poorly mixed sound system. The distortion, at times, was off-putting. My advise, start on time ditch the warm-up acts, be proud of your own material and don't cover Madona!!!

    Nelly Furtado was the best

by Djcming on 2013-01-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The concert put on in Edmonton on January 15, 2013 was the best concert I have seen yet. This lady is incredibly talented and delivers like nothing and no-one else. So much better live than her cds which are already great....Her latest cd is the first cd I have bought in years and it keeps growing and growing on me....Sometimes a great cd comes along and it takes time to soak in.

Enthusiastic entertainer. Enjoyed the music, however the ecoustics were bad, the bass was too loud, way over amped.

Nelly's team failed her ..backup singer awesome

by CvbQ on 2013-01-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Nelly still has the pipes! Moments of brilliance! It was unfourtuante her sound crew failed her and her DJ put to much empahsis on the base during a couple songs. That might have had to do with the lyric changes to promiscues girl? Now it's Mysterious girl. Please change it back .. We know you aren't promiscuous, it's just an awesome song! The crew couldn't even get the mics right despite a 20 minute intermission. nelly, on numerous occasions, tapped the mic and raised her thumb as to say .. "Idiots on the sound board, turn my mic up! the people who paid to hear me can't." One stage crew punched her in the face during a guitar change .. Enough to stun her. Her DJ, instead of looking like someone with a cool swagger .. Looked like he belonged in a math club. Please someone dress the man. Nelly carried the team on her back after big hoops, despite a hoop flying into the crowd. She got her swagger back after that song.grim reaper on stage was not funny .. It was kind of morbid. Backup singer was EXCELLENT! A true professional. I actually felt bad for nelly through out the concert, that her team was epically failing her. It was like the tour was thrown together last minute. Even the tour shirts are hideous. Maybe it's time for a new manager. I'm upset as a consumer I did not get the concert that I paid for. Thank god nelly held it together to salvage something out of the night.

    Excellent and well done!

    by john79 on 2013-01-16northern jubilee - edmonton

Unlike all the calgary haters on here, I really enjoyed her show tonight ! Very talented and impressed me. Some say the songs didn't flow or it was from a different era but who cares. I also liked Dylan and Jessica. The venue and sound was perfect. Thanks nelly !

Nelly Furtado.... very uninspired concert. Big fan... I've seen her 5 times. The band didn't care at all (except for the background vocalist)... They all looked like they would rather be somewhere else, and I'm not sure Nelly was having a good time. Doesn't have to have the time of her life, but it really didn't seem like we were in the room, until the last 15 minutes. (I was 3rd row). The short amount of times she acknowledged the audience seemed insincere. I could go into the details that gave me this impression, but it seemed clear to me, this was a subpar performance. I go to lots of concerts, I'm usually pretty forgiving... but that wasn't even close to being worth the money. The opening acts: Two 'commercials', rather than opening acts. They are not yet ready for a show of this level. They'll get experience from this opportunity, but at the audience's expense. Worst I've seen for a show at this level. The girl sang off-key, played too fast, doesn't yet know how to speak to an audience. Musically/syllistically, inappropriate. The guy wasn't better. Songs were meh, dressed stereotypical... mistakenly called Calgary Victoria (touring 101), didn't connect via his attempt at being charming in an aloof way. There are TONS of worthy and ready, even-unknown acts that would have crushed these two, who could have entertained the audience & better set up Nelly. The mood in the audience wasn't what it should have been leading into Nelly's show. Wasn't fair to the audience, to Nelly and to these acts themselves. They may very well go the distance... but they have so much to do before they are ready for a show of this level. I felt used as an audience member.

Big bass. I would have preferred more acoustic work, and pure vocals but all in all a good show. Good value. Why not play "In Gods Hands" instead of the copied songs. Josh Groban did this as well which I don't understand.

    Sound was poor

by JayMy on 2013-01-14Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

My husband and I attended the concert and was disconcerted with the overemphasis on the base. Unfortunately, the sound of the instruments overwhelmed Nelly's voice and we found it difficult to hear the words of the song. I would not attend another concert.

    Nelly Furtado

by Wouter on 2013-01-14Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Great voice, great songs, what a performer, what a great feel that she is engaged and spends money and time to help build schools and international awareness. Her voice is fantastic and world class and the Bossa Nova song with the playful vocals after were just stunning. The first song 'spirit...' completely overdid the 'bass' portion of the music: you mixers, I so expect better from you: DO NOT overshadow Nelly's voice..please.. that was a waste.. Also the other upbeat songs: although better mixed than the first..please let's get Nelly's voice on the forefront...make the music supportive, not dominant.. although the musicians were good. Not enough interaction and until the last nobody allowed to get up: sucks...

    A talent!

by LilithOne on 2013-01-14Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Nelly needs stronger stage direction.....awkward pauses, back lights, costume changes, equipment changes. Odd set list organization, weird bucket list ?gorilla?, poor sound engineering for her voice. Too bad because the music is worth it - she had 90 minutes of fun songs. The tour trappings of openers, stage managing, terrible wardrobe aside this concert reminds me that this is a person who is a talented musician ...as both a songwriter and singer..... I listen to her CDs again with renewed interest. PS Nelly background singer is worth a special mention -well done.

    Nelly too Loud

by RoadRunner7 on 2013-01-14Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The sound system was extremely loud. The bass vibrated my heart and created air movement enough to blow my hair. The Jubilee is a music auditorium not a hockey arena. The plastic pants don't work anymore. She should dress more maturely.
