    Too much hype!

by Jazzyman on 2018-04-13Meridian Centre - St Catharines

Lions won! Strong defense throughout, and high level of shooting! Unfortunately, those that manage the atmosphere ruin the evening with constant bombarding of the music and drumbeats. This high-decibel level noise is continuous even when the players are going up and down the floor. Throughout the evening and even with two minutes left in a tight scoring game, fans were enticed with free give-aways with kids and adults jumping up and down in their seats trying to attract the attention of girls running around throwing balls for freebees, or giving away gift coupons. Really, these promotions are overdone! I came to watch a basketball game, not to be constantly bombarded with noise that is so loud one cannot even speak to your neighbour without being heard. We have decided not to return to a Lions game unless and until some sanity prevails in managing the noise levels and hype during the games.

    Great seats

by Whatzzawhathappened on 2018-04-01Meridian Centre - St Catharines

Great seats. Great game. If you plan on hoping to get prizes etc in this area it won’t happen, but view was perfect! Game was 100% Better then when they last played the Titans.

    My kid shoots better...he’s 10!

by Whatzzawhathappened on 2018-03-27Meridian Centre - St Catharines

I’ve seen a couple games before but tonight I brought my wife for the first time and we both were disappointed. Not because the lions lost but because they couldn’t shoot worth beans!

    The Court-Side Experience

by TheSmithvilleCrew on 2018-03-10Meridian Centre - St. Catharines

Took my wife and two younger boys to their first basketball game a couple of weeks ago. We splurged a little and bought court-side seats. Was actually impressed how affordable they were ours being $50 each and the kids being $40 each. Not something I would do every week, but definitely nice once and a while. What an exciting nail-biting finish! Unfortunately - the River Lions lost by two points, but overall the game was very exciting right to the last second of play. Look forward to going back again soon - maybe try out a different section to get a different experience, but anyone who is considering the court-side experience, do it! Definitely worth it, and it's only about $20 or $30 more.

You can't get any better than this!

by Niagaragirl99 on 2016-09-12Meridian Centre - St. Catharines

I am SO excited that season tickets are now on sale. I have been waiting all summer! Last year I attended 5+ games and I have nothing but good things to say. Every game I sat in a different location and I can truthfully say that there isn't a bad seat in the house. I attended with people of all ages (kids to grandparents) and everyone had a great time. The basketball is entertaining, the ticket prices are just right and the best part is that it is right in my backyard. I encourage everyone to go check out a game and see this amazing team!

    Definitely a thrill!!!!

by AngerArtistry on 2016-04-04Meridian Centre - St Catharines

This is a great family friendly or date night event. It feels so good to have a home team we can cheer for aside from hockey. The team is really starting to pick up and we've attended 6 games now with 2 more to go. The crowds aren't huge but the pride we are showing for our team is awesome. There is no bad seat in the house and it's an affordable fun filled evening. Being so close to the action you actually get to see the players moves.....Slam dunks, 3 pointers, dribbling between the legs- you see it all! These guys that have come here to play for us don't make a lot of money, they just love the game of basketball. Come on out and support our Riverlions. You won't be disappointed :)

    Go River Lions!

by Bilth on 2016-04-02Merdian Centre - St. Catharines

Great times! Great basketball! Great fans! Great facility! Great energy! Music doesn't need to be played every second of the game though... more chants rather than pop hits from 10 years ago!

River Lions game at Meridian Centre

by chubby8 on 2016-03-19Meridian Centre - St Catharines

Issues that need to be addressed: - DJ played music consistently throughout gameplay which was too loud. -Choice of music not appropriate for basketball (hard rock, heavy metal songs are not basketball appropriate) Go to a Raptor game and you will get a better idea -Announcer needs to be more in tune with the crowd and should not speak when foul shots are being done. -Food selection should be offered on both sides of the centre. IE pizza is only served on one side -Unsold tickets should be available to elementary schools on the day of the game at a discount in order to fill seats. Attendance was poor -River lions apparel was not available for sale (ie no hoodies in stock) -Better selection of halftime entertainment (see a Raptor game) -Mascot should be more involved with the fans and children -More advertising and awareness required regarding basketball in the Niagara Region

Best Bang for the Buck in Town

by Squisher on 2016-02-18Meridian Center - St. Catharines

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening of basketball at the Meridian Center . The river lions have some great skill players and 3 point shooters. Action was fast paced, back and forth with many lead changes. When the team learns how to close stronger they will start winning more games. Hopefully they will figure it out come playoff time. My hats off to coach Murray , the management team, and the players for giving St. Catharines a top notch basketball team. I plan on attending many more games. The only drawback for me was the constant playing of music during the game while play was going on. I have never been to a professional sports game where the music doesn't stop during play. I found it very distracting and unnecessary . It would be great if it was held to time-outs, halftime, in between quarters etc. All the best the rest of the season, Squisher

Entertaining basketball, facility was great! Team is in its first year and hopefully with more playing time and additional coaching they will exceed expectations. We would consider attending another game in the future.
